The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

Not sure why he thinks Arie is a long shot--- he most likely has as much chance as Sean or Roberto. If they truly are still courting Roberto (and I'm loathe to believe RS at this point) then I'd say he has it in the bag. Just that Roberto shot down the rumours leads me to believe he's not doing it - usually when they're in negotiations they don't comment at all on rumours.

on another note - read on another board (for Big Brother Fans) Shane was set to appear on The Bachelorette - not sure which season, but I assume Em's.

As far as Roberto being the Bach - I'll wait to hear what LaureanT has to say

I would think that IF Roberto was willing, he would be their first choice, because the publicity they would garner from finally having a "minority Bachelor lead", especially in light of the lawsuit, would be substantial, and it's unlikely they'll ever have this option again. Whether Roberto would go for it (and I can believe they are still courting him, it took a while until they finally gave up on Chris L) is another story, as he really has shown himself to be, IMO, not all that keen on the whole "reality star" thing. Plus, I have to wonder how he would manage to keep his business running being gone for a few months (and of course, depending on how his "edit" goes, it could either help it or damage it, so there's a risk there as well).

If RS really has an inside source for the Roberto rumor, and it's not just his opinion, all it might be is that he has heard that the producers haven't given up on getting Roberto yet, which of course doesn't mean that they'll land him. But since RS doesn't generally think that anybody who appears on a reality show has much integrity, it's not surprising to me that he would assume that eventually Roberto will cave and do it. But again, that's nothing more than his biased opinion.

I'm on the fence - I absolutely adore him and would watch and rewatch and rewatch.....but....we also know what MF is capable of doing to a lead. The men generally fare better, but you just don't know what MF would do in the name of entertainment. My gut is telling me he shouldn't do it - the viewer in me wants him.

I don't always like RS, but his info is usually pretty solid. So I will now assume that Roberto is still in the running. But I think what he said about Arie is colored by his opinion.

And I won't watch if it's Sean.

I believe LaureanT has said he's not doing it.

From RS's post, to me, it doesn't seem like he's saying that they are still courting Roberto. More like, they went after Roberto in June, he said yes, but that there might have been some kind of backing out/renegotiation since. I'm inclined to believe from his tweets that he has since backed out (not because of money, but because of negative feedback and loss of privacy), but RS just hasn't been notified about that yet.

It actually sounded to me like they went after Roberto originally and haven't excluded him just yet. using the word 'courting' was wrong on my part.

of course, that's if we do believe RS.

but I also agree with IC that MF would love to have him to fill the 'ethnic lead' category they've been under attack for.

Still crossing my fingers for Roberto. I think they wanted him bad, bad. But I do have a feeling he has turned them down. Kip & Tenley have both made comments indicating he did.

Sean would be fine with me. Earlier in the season if I thought he would be boring but I've changed my mind on that.

Guess we wait and listen for the Kaboom

Well, if it's 'minority' bachelor they want, why doesn't Arie fit the bill??
There haven't been any Dutch bachelors either!!! :giggle:

Me too!!!! Although that would mean another season of me being stuck to this board, not doing laundry until the last minute, etc. - OH WELL, I STILL hope it's Roberto. Do we have a 12-step program for our group?

Still hoping that it's Roberto too, but I'm starting to realize it's super unlikely :(
