Charlotte’s Emily Maynard took “The Bachelorette” to new heights Tuesday night, scaling the side of the Mint Museum Uptown on a date with a suitor.

The ABC reality TV show has been filming across the Queen City as Maynard, a 26-year-old single mom, looks for love among a batch of men vying for her affection.

Maynard and her date, an unidentified tall man with dark hair, arrived around 9 p.m. at the museum on South Tryon Street. They held hands and chatted as they strolled toward the museum – with cameras closely following.

Police blocked Levine Avenue of the Arts as crews filmed the date, which attracted the attention of passersby and those dining at chef Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant E2, located next door.

Maynard – wearing a white tank top, black leggings and brown boots – and her date were strapped into harnesses and given helmets with small cameras attached.

Maynard could be heard saying that she was “so excited” before they began their ascent.

About halfway up the five-story building, the pair gave each other a high five. Her date waved to those below, prompting cheers.

“We love you, Emily,” a woman shouted.

“Give him a rose,” said one, referring to the show’s rose ceremony where contestants learn whether they’ll continue on the dating show.

It took them about 10 minutes to reach the top. Onlookers clapped as they climbed over the roof’s edge.

Maynard was once engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, the son of businessman and team owner Rick Hendrick who died in a 2004 plane crash while she was pregnant with their child.

Maynard won “The Bachelor” last year when Brad Womack proposed to her, but the couple split in June. In January, she was named the new “Bachelorette.”

The show is filming the forthcoming season in a six-bedroom, 8.5-bath European-style mansion in Charlotte rather than its usual California location because Maynard didn’t want to uproot her 6-year-old daughter for the filming, according to reports.

Last week, Maynard and a date were reportedly scheduled to have dinner at the new Osso Restaurant & Lounge and then watch a concert by country-music band Gloriana at the N.C. Music Factory.

“The Bachelorette” will premiere on May 14.

'The Bachelorette 2012' spoilers: Emily Maynard rappelling on second one-on-one

Filming for ABC's “The Bachelorette 2012” is underway, and fans are hoping that Emily Maynard finds the man of her dreams. While ABC usually like to keep filming under wraps, the crew is in Emily's hometown of Charlotte, NC and residents in the area are keeping their eyes open for activity. Lots of “The Bachelorette” spoilers are coming out as things develop, and news is that Emily Maynard went on her second one-on-one date Tuesday night.

Thanks to poster “Cash” at the Bach and Bachette Fan Forums, viewers now know to head over to the Charlotte Observer for some great pictures of Emily out with her guy. Reality Steve filled in some of the details for Tuesday night's date via his Twitter page. He tweeted, “Emily & her date just repelled [sic] UP the Mint Museum at Levine Center for the Arts, dinner on the rooftop, then a Luke Bryan concert to follow.”

So far the identify of the mystery date hasn't been uncovered, but chances are it won't take long to have a name to go along with the pictures. ABC has yet to officially announce this season's cast, but at the rate “The Bachelorette” spoilers are coming out, spoiler fans will have the names long before they are made official.

In the photos it looks like Emily is a bit apprehensive of the rappelling adventure, but the two seem to be having a fun time. The Luke Bryan will be her second concert of the season, as her first one-on-one date had a concert by Gloriana last Friday night. Stay tuned for more “The Bachelorette 2012” spoilers as they become available. Emily Maynard's season of “The Bachelorette” premieres on ABC Monday, May 14

'Bachelorette' season starts in May in N.C.

Posted: 2:00am on Mar 20, 2012; Modified: 1:07pm on Mar 20, 2012

Now that the worst season in "Bachelor" history - and that's including you, Jake Pavelka - is finally over, a hopeful Bachelor Nation can turn its eyes to that sweet Southern rose, Emily Maynard.

The new star of "The Bachelorette" debuts her season on ABC May 14. The show will move to Emily's hometown of Charlotte, N.C., to accommodate her young daughter.

Emily's season should be interesting for a few reasons. One, she's one of the few bachelor/ettes in recent memory that we can actually believe people would fight over. (Ben? Every girl other than Courtney is happy to have dodged that bullet.) She's also the first "Bachelorette" who actually won her "Bachelor" season. Wonder if Brad Womack will be watching?

Two, the new setting in North Carolina should invigorate the show a bit.

And finally, the single mom storyline should be good for a twist.

Here's hoping!

Friend Slams Bachelorette Emily Maynard: “She’s a Wannabe Trophy Wife”

Last summer, Brad Womack’s ex Emily Maynard famously announced she had no interest in being the next Bachelorette. A friend close to Emily explains to In Touch: “She thought it would bring too much attention to her daughter. She said she just cared about being a good mom and didn’t want cameras following her daughter around.”

In January, ABC made the shocking announcement that Emily was The Bachelorette for Season 8 of the popular franchise — and the show’s production would be moving from Los Angeles to Charlotte, North Carolina, Emily’s hometown. Season 8 doesn’t begin airing until May 14, 2012, but the backlash has already begun.

Emily Maynard and Ryan Bowers dance like no one's watching during their first one-on-one date on The Bachelorette Season 8.

Emily’s protestations about ensuring a normal life for Ricki are out the window, a source tells In Touch. On a recent date, Emily took contestant Ryan Bowers to watch Ricki’s soccer game — the entirety of which was filmed for the show. “The game was at Ricki’s elementary school, and they filmed the girls practicing,” the same friend says. “Emily and Ryan stood on the sidelines with the other parents.”

People close to Emily are seemingly beginning to question her motives for agreeing to appear on the show. “She’s a wannabe trophy wife and a gold digger,” complains the source. “That’s all she really cares about.” Ouch! With friends like these…

Living it up with "The Bachelorette"

Bachelorette 8 - Media - No Discussion - Thread #1 - Page 6 QLU0e.St.138

I certainly had a weekend filled events related to "The Bachelorette" filming, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. I am a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows, and Emily Maynard is such a sweetheart that Carolina Bride is thrilled to have this lovely lady repping the Queen City!

On Friday night, I joined other reality TV and country fans for the Gloriana concert, a one-on-one date for Emily and her unnamed suitor.

The two pulled up in a gorgeous car (he drove, what a gentleman!) and went to Osso for a lengthy dinner as we anxiously awaited the surprise concert. There was some rain involved, but no one in the crowd let that quell the excitement. When they came back out to the courtyard are at NC Music Factory, Emily introduced her date to her favorite band, and they serenaded the couple’s first dance together. Emily’s suitor toasted the lady of the hour: "to the most beautiful woman in Charlotte,” and they enjoyed a glass of champagne (what would a Bachelorette date be without champagne?) before departing.

This chica must be tired! The next day the men and the bachelorette were up rehearsing for their 4 o’clock fundraiser performance at Booth Playhouse. I can't reveal too much, but there were Muppets involved (the real ones!), lots of hunks and a healthy dose of laughter and sing-alongs. And as you’ve probably read, Emily and one of her gents are scaling the skyline this week.

What will I take from the weekend? We already knew Emily was sweet and – of course – gorgeous. But even with a powerful spotlight on her, this future Carolina bride shows an amazing amount of grace and poise. When the crowds shout, “Good luck, Emily!" and “We love you,” she actually says thank you. With her daughter’s best interest at heart, she's brought this crazy roller coaster to her town and is allowing it to benefit the local economy and charities that are dear to her heart. The fact that she’s sharing this experience with all of us really speaks to her generosity and spirit.

You may see me in an episode in this season, cheering her on like the total fan that I am. Carolina Bride wishes her all the luck in the world -- we hope she finds the man of her dreams!

And just for fun, above is a highlight from the weekend. We love you too, Chris Harrison!

Charlotte’s ‘Bachelorette’ goes on high-flying date

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte’s Emily Maynard took “The Bachelorette” to new heights Tuesday night, scaling the side of the Mint Museum Uptown on a date with a suitor before enjoying a private concert from a country music star.

Click here for photos from the Charlotte Observer

“Give him a rose,” said one, referring to the show’s rose ceremony where contestants learn whether they’ll continue on the dating show.

It took them about 10 minutes to reach the top. Onlookers clapped as they climbed over the roof’s edge.

Once the pair reached the top, they enjoyed a private rooftop dinner catered by new uptown restaurant E2 owned by renowned chef Emeril Lagasse.

After dinner, the two enjoyed a private concert at the intersection of Trade and Tryon streets courtesy of country music star Luke Bryan. Click here for photos from the Charlotte Observer Click here to watch the air dancing in uptown Charlotte

One witness to the concert said Maynard and her date arrived for the concert around 12:15 a.m. after a slight rain delay and several sound checks by Bryan.

“They dropped them off at the intersection of 3rd and Tryon,” said Ileana Kistler, who found out about the event through Twitter.

Kistler said Bryan played two songs repeatedly for the next hour so production crews could get the right shots of the couple dancing. Bryan rotated between two hits "Drunk on You" and "Do I," Kistler said.

After the filming wrapped up around 1:30 early Wednesday morning, the crowd of about 100 dispersed for the night, but production assistants said post-date filming would continue until about 6 a.m.

“It was neat because you had a lot of college kids, a lot of professionals that had heard all the commotion. It was really loud,” Kistler added. “It was just a really good variety of people (at the concert).”

Last week, Maynard and a date had dinner at the new Osso Restaurant & Lounge and then watched a concert by country-music band Gloriana at the N.C. Music Factory. Click here for photos of Emily and her date as they arrive at Osso

Maynard was once engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, the son of businessman and team owner Rick Hendrick who died in a 2004 plane crash while she was pregnant with their child. “The Bachelorette” will premiere on May 14.

Ryan Bowers, former Greenbrier High School sports star and owner of a local sports training facility, has been selected to be on the next season of The Bachelorette.

A member of Bowers’ staff at AthElite Sports Training Academy in Evans confirmed he has left town for a few weeks to be on the show.

“We don’t know a whole lot of details,” trainer Casey Munn said. “But he is on the show, and he did get the first one-on-one date.”

The 31-year-old Bowers will be one of several eligible bachelors competing for the heart of a bachelorette when the next season of the show airs this summer on ABC.

After a successful football career at Greenbrier, Bowers played at Presbyterian College and later signed a pro contract with the Atlanta Falcons, who sent him to play in NFL Europe. Bowers, one of only two former Columbia County football players to reach the professional level, also played in the Arena Football League.

During the later years of his pro career, Bowers made Evans his home base and and started his own personal training business. His company, which trains several local athletes in a variety of sports, now plays host to the area’s top high school football combine. Bowers found a permanent home for his business a year ago, opening an 8,000-square foot facility at 2520 Associates Way in Evans.

Bowers has also served as an assistant coach at Augusta Christian Schools and later as head football coach at Westminster Schools of Augusta.

‘Bachelorette’ Emily Maynard ‘Had a Great Time’ On Her First Date, Eyewitness Reports

Bachelorette 8 - Media - No Discussion - Thread #1 - Page 6 Emily-exclusive-120209P3_FEDOTOWSKY_B-GR_01120321125556
After enduring a very public breakup with Bachelor Brad Womack, Emily Maynard is back on the road to finding lasting love on Bachelorette. Her first one-on-one date of the new season included kissing, slow dancing, intimate conversation and more, an eyewitness exclusively tells HollywoodLife.com.

Even though her journey on The Bachelorette has just begun, Emily Maynard may have fallen in “love at first sight.” The 26-year-old single mom recently started filming the new season of the show in Charlotte, NC and already she seems to have made a love connection with one of the show’s suitors: Ryan Bowers. “It looked like they had a great time,” an eyewitness at Osso Restaurant and Lounge in Charlotte exclusively tells HollywoodLife.com. “They couldn’t keep their eyes off each other.”

After an intimate dinner laced with kisses and quiet conversation, Emily and Ryan watched country-music band Gloriana perform on the NC Music Factory’s outdoor stage. The cute couple spent the evening holding hands, laughing and gazing into each other’s eyes. Ryan sure knows how to make an impression!

Are YOU excited for Emily’s season of The Bachelorette to begin? Wouldn’t it be cute if Emily ended up with the first guy she gave a rose to?

Emily Maynard Is Doing ‘The Bachelorette’ For All The Wrong Reasons

Emily Maynard Is Doing ‘The Bachelorette’ For All The Wrong Reasons

Fan favorite Emily Maynard claims she’s looking for love on ‘The Bachelorette,’ but insiders reveal that the blonde bombshell has ulterior motives.

Emily Maynard has remained a household name since her very public courtship, and subsequent breakup, with Bachelor Brad Womack, so it didn’t come as a surprise to fans of the franchise when she was chosen to be the new Bachelorette. But Emily had her doubts. In July, the 26-year-old single mother tweeted, “I don’t want to be the Bachelorette,” claiming that she didn’t want to uproot her daughter, Ricki, from their home in Charlotte, NC. “She thought it would bring too much attention to her daughter,” a friend of Emily’s told In Touch. “She said she just cared about being a good mom and didn’t want cameras following her daughter around.”

Sensing the fans disappointment, ABC bent over backwards to accomodate Emily and arranged to have the filming take place in her hometown — plus, they sweetened the deal with a $250,000 paycheck. “That’s a lot of money,” added her friend.

Despite Emily’s protests that she wanted to keep Ricki as far away from the cameras as possible, a different insider adds that the fame-hungry blonde has wasted no time putting her six-year-old in the public eye. In fact, her very first one-on-one date with contestant Ryan Bowers, 31, featured a trip to Ricki’s soccer game. “The game was at Ricki’s elementary school, and they filmed the girls practicing,” the insider said. “Emily and Ryan stood on the sidelines with the other parents.”

The only one with Ricki’s best interests at heart are the parents of Emily’s deceased ex-boyfriend, Ricky Hendrick. “They are very close to Ricki and feel they should have a say in terms of what Emily involves her in,” the friend explained. However, Emily isn’t interested in their opinions — the lure of a massive ring, lavish digs, and national fame has taken control. “She’s a wannabe trophy wife and a gold digger,” added the friend. “That’s all she really cares about.”

What do you think think about Emily’s decision to put her daughter in the public eye? Do you think she’s doing The Bachelorette for all the wrong reasons?

Thank you cfck!

cfck2222 wrote:The new In Touch has a split main cover story on the "dirty secrets" of Courtney and Emily. So, I guess it is safe to say In Touch isn't going to be getting the unofficial leaks from the B'ette this season. Rolling Eyes

The Emily stuff isn't really anything new. The story just claims she's greedy, that she's after the paycheck ($250k in her case, so the story claims), that the Hendricks are mortified she's doing this, and she isn't protecting her kid from the cameras because part of her 1 on 1 with Ryan Bowers was going to see Ricki's soccer game. The story also says she was already picking out her Neil Lane engagement ring a month before filming started. [My comment: probably giving him an idea of what she likes, right?]

However, there is a semi blurry candid photo in the story of 10 Bach guys in the story (including a couple guys whose only visible part is a back or an arm). The caption says the guys hit the town (I think without Emily?). Nobody's identified by name. There's one guy who has his hair in a short high ponytail (hair is probably around chin length) - kind of hippie/surfer style but in a neat way, not unkempt. There's also a couple of pics from Emily's date with Ryan.

An anonymous insider is cited as the source for saying the guys to watch include the "gorgeous" Georgian Ryan Bowers and "bad boy" Jef Holm. No other names are mentioned.
