Chris Harrison's Bachelorette Episode 2 Teasers: "Brash" Kalon vs. Stevie, Ryan Bowers an Early Favorite?
Chris Harrison loves that Emily Maynard eventually tells one of her boyfriends to “get the f--k out.” As The Rosemaster has been saying for a while now, our Season 8 Bachelorette is “sweet right up till the time she’s not.” When someone crosses her daughter, Ricki, look out. That guy may not like Emily when she Hulks out, but Chris thinks viewers will.
But what about when the guys get mad? Chris gave some Episode 2 teasers to TV Guide, including what looks like some friction between season “villain” Kalon McMahon and boom box disco dancer Stevie. “I don’t like you,” we see Stevie tell Kalon, and Kalon responds, "I wouldn't like me either if I were you, bro."
"Kalon definitely — he might as well have drawn a huge target on his back by coming in a helicopter,” Chris told TV Guide, “but you know what, that's him. He's brash, he's eccentric, he's confident — bring it on."
Bachelor Pad 2 tiara princess Erica Rose said Kalon is the male version of her, so maybe he is the “bad guy” this season, but we still can’t dislike him. Yet.
By the way, Chris said the people who texted him during the premiere kept telling him "I love Ryan. He's gotta be the one." Guess that cute two-sided note paid off! Ryan Bowers gets the first date of the season, including baking cookies for Ricki’s soccer team.
Do you agree that Ryan is an early favorite? Or are you more into one of these other guys?

Emily Maynard Shouldn't Trust Kalon McMahon on 'The Bachelorette'
http://www.okmagazine.com/news/emily-maynard-shouldnt-trust-kalon-mcmahon-bachelorette
Could Emily Maynard ever find true happiness with a self-confessed "man slut"? Not if she heeds the words of sources who've seen a raunchy "diary" written by The Bachelorette contestant Kalon McMahon detailing his sexual and partying exploits during a wild 2009 trip to Los Angeles.
Kalon, 27, a luxury branding consultant from Houston, became the flashpoint of the series' May 14 premiere when he arrived fashionably late in his private helicopter to upstage the other bachelors, then smarmily told Emily, "Sorry if I made you wait a few minutes for me, but I promise it's worth it!"
Strangely, this followed on the heels of his claim that he used to be "extremely loud and obnoxious" and a "womanizer" — but after some soul-searching, he'd made a "drastic change" in his life and is now dependable and down to earth.
Emily, 26, may not see it that way — especially when she finds out about that diary. "Kalon wrote an account of his crazy trip to L.A. and showed it to a number of his friends," a source tells Star. "In it, he proclaimed that he has 'obnoxiously high standards' and referred to himself as a 'man slut.'"

Arie Luyendyk Jr. a favorite of 'Bachelorette'
May, 21, 2012

By Lynn Hoppes | ESPN.com
Arie Luyendyk Jr. talks with Emily Maynard as one of the 25 contestants of ABC's "Bachelorette".
The Internet buzz is that former IndyCar driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. will be on ABC's "Bachelorette" all the way to the final handful of contestants on Season 8 of the elimination dating show.
The 30-year-old Luyendyk, son of the legendary driver with the same name, hasn't really been racing much lately. He has been racing part-time on the Indy Lights and has turned to announcing. In 66 starts as a driver, he has only one victory.
But he might be winning the hand of Emily Maynard of "Bachelorette," which has its second episode 9 p.m. Monday.
Maynard lost her fiance, NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, in a plane crash on Oct. 24, 2004. They had been dating for four years and were engaged for about six months when Hendrick passed away. Maynard then won Brad Womack's affections on "The Bachelor" Season 15 but that relationship didn't last. Now she's the "Bachelorette."
For Maynard, it wasn't the racing background that attracted her to Luyendyk out of the 25 contestants.
"Arie is such a great guy," Maynard said on the media conference call. "He could be a taxicab driver and I wouldn't have cared."
Luyendyk is on lockdown while the show is on, since he could reveal his placement, but he did answer a few questions for his "Bachelorette" online bio:
Do you consider yourself romantic, and why?
"Yes. I think the definition of romance is putting your partner first. I believe I do that!"
What's your best date memory?
"When we took my motorcycle and rode to the park for a picnic. After we rode to the lake, we went cliff jumping. It was an awesome day."
What is your motto?
"Drive fast, take chances."

Emily Maynard stopped by "Live with Kelly" Monday morning (May 21) to talk about her experience on the show.
"You know what, it was a really good learning experience for me. If any of those guys had come up to me out [on the town], I would've said 'Absolutely not. Thank you, but no thank you.' But I gave them a chance and they gave me a chance and they really are great guys," says Emily.
Host Kelly Ripa and guest host Taye Diggs are not convinced any of these fellas are good enough for Emily and were particularly weirded out by Travis, the guy who brought the ostrich egg. Emily agrees that it was pretty weird.
"It was very weird and I didn't know what to say, but I told him he needs to lose the egg. They named it Shelly and you'll see the end of Shelly," Emily promises.
She also does say that she fell in love - "I learned so much about myself and I fell in love, so that to me is worth it."
We wonder what exactly that means. And who with?!
Finally, Emily talks about how great it was to film in her hometown so she could still do carpool and pack her daughter Ricki's lunch and whatnot.
"I would come home from a date and it would be like 4 o'clock in the morning and Ricki would be in my bed and she'd want to get up and talk. I'm like, 'No. We have two hours to sleep. Go to sleep now,'" Emily laughs.
"The Bachelorette" airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

Kicking off her week with a media appearance, Emily Maynard was spotted at ABC Studios in Times Square, New York City today (May 21).
The beautiful blonde was in the house to promote her show “The Bachelorette” on “Good Morning America,” and she sounds like it’s been a good experience so far.
Emily explained that weeding through all the corny first impressions proved to be a wealth of valuable knowledge.
“It was a really great learning lesson for me, because those guys that I normally would have said, ‘no way,’ I was forced to really get to know them and I was really surprised by a lot of them. They’re really great guys.”
What about the ‘egg’ guy? “So nice! And you’ll see later on, I tell him he needs to lose the egg. I told him!”

'The Bachelorette': Chris Harrison discusses this season's drama
by Mandi Bierly
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/21/bachelorette-emily-maynard-chris-harrison/
Video At Link
by Mandi Bierly
Tonight, Emily Maynard’s journey on The Bachelorette continues and, if the highlight reel we saw after last week’s season premiere is any indication, we’re in for another emotional ride. “The guys quickly fall for her, and when they realize she wants more — she wants a family and wants it pretty quickly — that changes everything,” host Chris Harrison says. “So when we get deeper into this — the breakups and the heartache — there’s so much more on the line than there normally would be, that the drama’s different. It almost doesn’t even do it justice to call it drama because it’s so much more heartfelt.”
As Harrison says in the video interview below, the show may have catered to Maynard, a single mother to 6-year-old daughter Ricki, by moving production to Charlotte and allowing her to stay in her own home for the start of the season, but one thing won’t change: She’ll still have to deal with fantasy suite cards. “Just like everybody else, she will have that dilemma. What she chooses to do in that moment, and who she chooses to do it with, is completely up to her,” Harrison says. “That, to me, is a great dynamic and a great social issue of our show. We all get to sit at home at the edge of our seat, and be like What’s she gonna do? Is she even gonna offer it to him? Where will it go? Ricki’s a big part of this show, on her mind and in her life. How do you want to be seen? How do you portray this? It was totally up to her.”!
Harrison is looking forward to fans seeing different sides of Maynard. There's the fairly predictable one, her choosing fashion over function: "Something that will always stick in my mind is Croatia. It was so cold at the rose ceremony, and we were trying to warn her, and she's like, 'I don't care if I freeze to death. I'm gonna look good.' That's her, and I love that about her. It's a very Southern thing," Harrison says.
But there's also the surprisingly fierce side we saw in that highlight reel when she learns one of her suitors referred to Ricki as "baggage": "She will defend Ricki to the death and doesn't mind telling a guy to get the eff out of here, if that is what the situation calls for," Harrison says. "She doesn't mind getting dirty."
The move to Charlotte, which meant the crew couldn't film the men in its usual Bachelor mansion, did have some drawbacks, Harrison admits. He had to find new places in the mansion to hide. But it made the show feel fresh, which is why he'd be up for relocating from L.A. again. "We were kinda treated like a rock group coming through town, and Emily was our lead man. Everyone was really excited. You'd show up at some great barbecue place, and they'd be like 'Hey, dinner's on me. Let's have a beer,'" he says. "There's something kinda cool about that. I wouldn't mind doing that more often."
As for the future of the franchise, can we expect Bachelorette creator Mike Fleiss to name Ricki as the Bachelorette in 20 years? "Genius he is, Fleiss has already locked Ricki and [former Bachelor Jason Mesnick's son] Ty up as a future Bachelorette and Bachelor. We're gonna keep this in the family," Harrison jokes. "It's not just enough to keep it from season to season. We're now generational. And I'll still be there. I'll be in my walker. 'Alright, little Ricki, I remember when your mom was here...'"

And on Monday's episode of ABC's The Bachelorette, single mom Maynard, 26, takes Ryan into her Charlotte, N.C., kitchen to whip up some tasty treats during a one-on-one date.
PHOTOS: Meet the guys competing for Emily's heart
"I get to bake? Awesome!" Atlanta-based athletic coach Ryan, 31, says in the preview clip above. "You don't watch The Bachelor and think that you're going to be cooking, but I'm willing to do just about anything for Emily."
The best part of their domestic one-on-one date? Macho man Ryan donned a frilly patterned apron for the cooking session. "It doesn't have room for 'man chest,'" he lamented as he helped Maynard stir in chocolate chips for the cookies.
VIDEO: Emily's home life with her daughter Ricki
"We're hanging out in her kitchen and I'm thinking that this is exactly what life could be like if I was a part of her life," he later reasoned. "I could step in and be a part of what she does every day. There's romance in that."
For her part, Maynard, who'll go on another date with Ryan to an Italian restaurant and Gloriana concert later this season, seemed impressed with the way he handled himself around the kitchen.
PHOTOS: See Emily and Ryan dine and dance on their upcoming one-on-one date
Says the reality star: "It's too soon to tell how Ryan would treat me and how he'd be in a marriage, but he totally passed the cookie test!"

Spoiler Alert! ABC Accidentally Leaks Bachelorette's Eliminated Contestants

What's one level up from a spoiler alert? Complete episode ruiner?
Because that's what ABC just inadvertently gave away.
Yes, the ordinarily secret-keeping network accidentally scooped itself this morning, when it prematurely posted The Bachelorette's week two Diaries of the Departed video on YouTube, a 90-second clip featuring post-elimination confessionals with the three suitors Emily Maynard bids farewell to this week.
The problem? The episode doesn't actually air until tonight. Oops.
In case it doesn't go without saying that there are massive spoilers ahead—uh, there are massive spoilers ahead. So, which would-be fiancés were given the heave-ho?
MORE: Missed last week's Bachelorette premiere? Get caught up now!
Sadly, love just wasn't in the cards for Aaron, Joe and Kyle.
"I have no regrets, but I think I should still be in there right now," Aaron, the 36-year-old biology teacher from Long Beach, said. "I'm disappointed that I didn't get to talk to her more, but sometimes that happens."
Joe, the 27-year-old field energy adviser from Los Angeles, was next up in the limo ride of shame, giving his thoughts on his ousting. Unsurprisingly, he didn't seem to be in agreement on the single mom's decision to keep him out of her and her daughter's life.
"She said that she doesn't see Ricki and her fitting in my life...I get a lot of situations in my life, I get her and Ricky in that scenario," he said. "I get that. I came here to find love and that didn't happen. I think Emily made a mistake."
As for cast-aside bachelor No. 3, 29-year-old financial adviser Kyle, hailing from Long Beach, rounded out the rejected beaus.
"Seeing Emily with Ricki was inspiring in a way, because it shows how good of a mom she is," the aspiring family man said. "I would love to be a father one day. I plan on having kids. We didn't connect, simple as that. I enjoyed myself here and had a great time. We didn't get that opportunity, unfortunately."
Well, that's that. But while ABC may have inadvertently ruined the ending, it's all about the journey, not the destination…er, right?
Tell us, will you still tune in to tonight's episode?

Terry Morrow: Dolly Parton plays matchmaker to 'The Bachelorette'
By Terry Morrow
http://www.knoxville.com/news/2012/may/21/knoxville-celebrities-dolly-parton-bachelorette/?partner=RSS
By Terry Morrow
Dolly Parton lent her time and her theme park to "The Bachelorette." The installment of the ABC series will air 8 p.m. Monday on WATE, Channel 6.
Dolly Parton is playing matchmaker.
The Sevier County native will make an appearance on the May 28 episode of "The Bachelorette," which was reported first on the Tele-buddy blog at Knoxville.com this past week.
Parton opened her theme park for a day in March to the reality series when Bachelorette Emily Maynard wanted to take her one-on-one dates there.
"Being a part of 'The Bachelorette' at Dollywood and meeting Emily and her date was so fun," Parton said.
"I'm just a big old romantic anyway so we had the best time, and I can't wait to see how our Dollywood episode turns out!"
Parton will sing a couple of songs to Maynard and her suitors and then offer advice on love and romance.
"The Bachelorette" airs at 8 p.m. Mondays on WATE, Channel 6.
Parton has never been a fan of reality TV in particular, though she did say recently she's a fan of "The Voice" and "Smash," airing Monday nights on NBC.
She recently declined an offer to perform on the season finale of "The Voice due to scheduling conflicts and repeatedly turns down being a contestant on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison: Ryan's Date Was a Big Reality Check for the Men
by Robyn Ross
http://www.tvguide.com/News/Bachelorette-Chris-Harrison-1047850.aspx
by Robyn Ross
The Bachelorette's Emily Maynard is already hitting it off with some of the guys (ahem, Ryan), but viewers will have to wait just a little longer to witness her first kiss on the show.
"You're not going to see the early, wild, hot tub make-out on Date 1," host Chris Harrison tells us. "The fact that she's a mom ... they didn't want to be that guy that takes it too far and makes her feel uncomfortable."
Read our recap of this week's episode
In this week's chat with Harrison, he tells us that Ryan's date was a huge reality check for him and the guys, why Emily gets angry next episode and how her tears are only just getting started.
Emily's first one-on-one date was baking cookies. Do you think Ryan was disappointed in the lack of adventure or glam?
Chris Harrison: Sure. There's no way that he would've thought the first date was going to be baking cookies and taking them to Ricki's soccer practice. That was the biggest reality check ever and sets the tone for the season. But he enjoyed the date and loved spending time with her and then there was the nighttime part. That's the whole thing with Emily, she can be a mom and then she puts on a red dress and you're like, "Holy cow."
I think this is the first season where neither first one-on-one date ended with a kiss!
Harrison: That's another theme throughout the season. When do you make that move and do you make that move? The fact that she's in a mom plays a huge part in that — you're not going to see the early wild hot tub make-out on Date 1. Everyone puts her on this pedestal, but she's a normal 26-year-old woman who wants to be wined and dined and wants to be kissed and the guys are very wary of that. They didn't want to be that guy that takes it too far and makes her feel uncomfortable. There are times throughout the season when she'll get back from a date and she'll tell me in deliberation, "I could not have thrown out more signals and clues for him to kiss me, hug me, touch me."
The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison: One Guy Crosses Emily and Enrages Her
How excited were you and the guys for the Muppets group date?
Harrison: All of a sudden we were 8-years-old again. We were doing Statler and Waldorf and I joined in as was one of the grumpy guys, which was like a dream come true. Those are my favorite characters and to actually get to be one and act alongside them, I was grinning ear to ear!
Emily was adorable during her skit with Kermie.
Harrison: With Emily I thought no way does she have the chops, but I think because Ricki was there she really wanted to show her she was having fun with the Muppets. She really got into it and was being coy and flirty with Kermit, it was really funny.
Were you surprised she axed Joe on her first week of one-on-ones?
Harrison: It definitely sent an early message to the guys because no one thought he was going home on the first date — that just doesn't happen. So that sent ripple effects throughout the house like, "Wow, she's really serious about it!" and now they're like, "I might just settle for the group date."
The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison: Emily's Season Is Drastically Different
Emily cried while dumping him. If she's crying already, she's in trouble.
Harrison: I know we had this talk and I told her, "You realize if you cry now, we are in for a long road. It's not going to get any easier, and you're not even feeling anything yet." All of the Bachelors and Bachelorettes hate the goodbyes and breakups, but it's so hard [for viewers] to understand how tough it is.
In the promo for next week, it looks like Emily's sassiness starts to come out.
Harrison: If she doesn't see a potential father figure or love, etc. she sends people home. She knows how hard the rose ceremonies are so in lieu of waiting for the rose ceremony, she just lets people go, which made it a little difficult for us because we're like, "OK we need enough guys to have a rose ceremony." But she did what she wanted, and we went along with it.
