Neighbors upset as 'The Bachelorette' films in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Some residents near the mansion site where reality show ‘The Bachelorette’ is being filmed in Charlotte are already upset.

People who live near the mansion off of Marvin Road south of Ballantyne say they’ve heard noise of a helicopter flying at night while crews shoot the show. Neighbors also say the area lights up like a football field at night as crews film all over the estate located in the gated Evermay community.

Multiple outlets have reported ‘The Bachelorette’ is filming inside a six-bedroom, 8.5-bath mansion in Charlotte because the Queen City is home to the new Bachelorette, Emily Maynard.

Nearby store owners say crew members have been coming into businesses for weeks, but last night the bachelors competing for Maynard’s heart on the show were seen getting out of limos.

The eighth season of the show will premiere on May 14. Maynard, who has a 6-year-old daughter, was engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick before he died in a plane crash in 2004.

NewsChannel 36 reporter Dianne Gallagher will have a full report today at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

In September 2010 Peters & Associates gave NewsChannel 36 an exclusive tour of a south Charlotte home when it was being used for a high style photo shoot. That house is now the backdrop for 'The Bachelorette'.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A south Charlotte mansion used as the backdrop for the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” is for sale for $5.9 million and NewsChannel 36 has video inside.

In September 2010 Peters & Associates gave NewsChannel 36 an exclusive tour of the home when it was being used for a high style photo shoot. At the time, the footage aired in a story by anchor Bobby Sisk about real estate agents posing as models to sell luxury homes like this one.

The home has been on the market for several years now. In 2006 it was listed for $5.9 million. In 2007 the price went up to $6.8 million. And it went on the market again in 2012 at a lower price of $5.9 million. The home is listed by Mirium Peters of Peters & Associates.

The house is located in the Evermay gated community and sits on 5.01 acres. It has 12,000 square feet with six bedrooms and seven full bathrooms with three half baths. It was built in 2006. The Mecklenburg County tax value of the home is $5 million.

The European style house has a hard stucco and stone exterior with a four car garage.

The house even has an elevator and a ballroom. It has a fenced yard with an outdoor patio, an outdoor kitchen, in-ground pool and terrace.

‘The Bachelorette’ is filming inside the Charlotte home because the Queen City is home to the new Bachelorette, Emily Maynard and she wanted to stay clooe to home.

"The Bachelorette" will be filming at the N.C. Music Factory on Friday night.

'The Bachelorette' 2012 spoilers: Emily Maynard goes on a 1 on 1 date already

"The Bachelorette" 2012 has just started filming and spoilers are already coming out for this show. Emily Maynard is trying to find love. Are you ready for this show to start Oklahoma City fans?

Reality Steve always has great spoilers for this show. Tonight he went to his Twitter account to let fans know about one of Emily's first dates. Here is what he had to say:

Emily is on her 1 on 1 date tonight w Ryan Bowers, one of the contestants I've already confirmed. Plenty of pics & video of them arriving.

Wet Paint already has some information up about Ryan if you want to get to know him now. Here is what they had to say about him:
He is a 31 year old football player.
Ryan Bowers lives in Georgia.
He is 6 ft. 1 in tall.
He played football in the NFL Europe league.

Steve even posted a pic of them arriving on their date. You can see it on his Twitter. Here is another one of them on the date for you to enjoy. Find the photo here. There is even a video of their arrival. Steve also posted later that Ryan does get the rose on this 1 on 1 date.

'The Bachelor' host Chris Harrison explains Emily Maynard as 'Bachelorette'

So why was Emily Maynard picked as "The Bachelorette" over some of the ladies from Ben Flajnik's season? More often than not, the lead of a show is someone who went far on the season beforehand, but on this occasion Emily was just too good an opportunity for producers to pass up.

Speaking in a conference call this week (per Reality TV World), Harrison explained why Emily would work well while at the same time defending her against critics of a single mom signing up for the gig:

“It was really just knowing that Emily was lightning in a bottle. She is just such a compelling story, an amazing woman and has so much to offer in the way of just great storytelling. I think it is going to be very telling for — and I don't know if it's for the reasons that people see — I think that people see this beautiful blonde and she was on Brad [Womack]'s season. But what I see is this single mom and we've never done that before, and that's really what I find interesting — the double standard. When you have Jason Mesnick and all of the fans go, ‘Oh, look at the sweet single dad. It's so cute!’ Well, Emily's not really getting the same reaction. Why doesn't she deserve the ‘Ooh's and Ahhs’? Instead it's, ‘Oh, what is she doing coming back?’ And ‘What's she doing with her kid?' and 'nice parenting?.'"

The good news for Emily? No matter how mean the criticism gets, it probably won't be as bad as what Ben Flajnik was forced to deal with during his run on the show.

‘The Bachelorette’ producers step up tweeting for Emily Maynard’s season

Is this a good strategy?

When “The Bachelor” usually tapes their seasons, it’s as well-kept of a secret as Fort Knox. The producers are usually so desperate to keep everything a secret that even some of the dates are secluded from the public eye … but this is not exactly the case for this “Bachelorette” season starring Emily Maynard.

Thus far, show executive producer Mike Fleiss along with with many of the other show producers have been active on Twitter talking about filming for this season, and we have already learned a few interesting pieces of information:

1. The first rose ceremony this past week ended up running until past 5:00 a.m. Eastern time.

2. There is one group date that apparently involves The Muppets, and there is another that is going to be one of the biggest productions ever in the history of the show.

3. Unlike some past seasons on the show, Fleiss claims that there will probably not be any kisses on the show until at least the end of the second episode. Early expectations are that the show is going to be far more conservative than the past few seasons, mostly due to Emily being a single mom and wanting to set a bit of a different example on the show than just locking lips with everyone on the first couple of days.

Overall, this sort of live-tweeting by the “Bachelorette” staff seems to be a rather smart move. It enables the series to keep diehard fans excited, and provides a bit of an alternative to all of the people out there who are merely trying to seek out spoilers.

The Bachelorette in Charlotte, NC :: We Love Chris Harrison!

Some of you may or may not know that this season’s Bachelorette is the one and only, Emily Maynard! She didn’t find love with Brad, so she is out to find love again, this time in her own control! Emily lives here in Charlotte (she attends the same church as we do, Forest Hill) and she agreed to be the next Bachelorette on one condition; they filmed right here in Charlotte so she could stay near her daughter Ricki!

The filming has begun and Charlotte has been “Bachelorette central” with people spilling fiming locations, attending dates, and more. I had the opportunity to be in the audience for a group date yesterday and it was so cool to see how it all plays out and what all goes into filming a date for the show. I can’t give you any details of the date, but I can tell you it was so fun to watch and you won’t want to miss it!

The season airs in May, so be sure to watch and see if you can find me in the audience! (I may have been sitting right in front of someone near and dear to Emily’s heart! )

Before the date started and we entered into the theater, Chris Harrison himself came out to greet fans. It was so cool to see him in person and get to chat with him! He is just as outgoing and nice as he seems on the show! He even chatted with me and my friend on camera (I insisted he try Chick Fil A, way better than their obsession with Bojangles!)

After witnessing some of the guy’s interact with Emily, I have my own guesses as to who won’t make it until the end. A few of them I’m guessing will be going home before too long, but I’ll leave my guesses for later once the season plays out! It’s going to be so cool to see this all edited and put together once the season airs!

Emily Maynard as 'Bachelorette' tours Charlotte with 2 dozen men: Spoiler alert

Emily Maynard, who won The Bachelor and then broke up with him (Brad Womack) is coming back as The Bachelorette in the same ABC franchise. In fact, The Charlotte, North Carolina native is coming back with a vengeance, and on her turf as the show unfolds starting in May.

Although that's more than a month away, the taping for some of the Bachelorette shows has already wrapped. But all traps weren't clamped about what happened during those dating days in the deep South.

For instance, two dates in this destination have been disclosed by various sources and on many social media outlets, with news that Emily Maynard went out with a bunch of different guys in her own home town.

One of those all-important Bachelorette dates, already in the can, takes place in and around a thriving North Carolina winery. This outlet is located in an area that happens to be the only region in the world where every type of grape is grown. In fact, some 100 wineries operate in the Tar Hills State.

According to Reality Steve, yet another North Carolina date--taped this past weekend with Emily Maynard and a gaggle of 13 guys--had these blokes vying for this blonde beauty at the Booth Playhouse, part of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

The occasion was a benefit held at the uptown Charlotte venue and The Muppets were along for the occasion. Steve believes that five of the guys on the date were given the opportunity to dance with Miss Piggy while a couple of Emily's other men were picked to do stand up with Fozzy Bear.

Also during this special gathering, Emily Maynard and her daughter Ricki had the prvilege of singing Rainbow Connection with Kermit.

Meanwhile, in association with Levine Children's Hospital, this special evening was devoted to raising money for the Ricky Hendrick charity, a special cause for Emily since Hendrick was her fiance when she died and since he is the father to Maynard's daughter Ricky. That evening some $20,000 was reportedly raised.

That said, after little Ricky went home to go to sleep, Emily Maynard and her bachelor hopefuls were then said to on to an after party at Charlotte's Garrison at Graham Lofts.

And so, as Emily Maynard takes on the role of The Bachelorette, she and Charlotte get up-close-and-person with a couple of dozen of available men.

After her devastating split from former Bachelor Brad Womack last summer, Emily Maynard is hoping to find love again as ABC's new Bachelorette.

Friday evening, Maynard, 26, headed out on her first one-on-one date of the season. (Show insiders have identified the lucky guy as a man named Ryan Bowers, 31, an Atlanta-based gym owner.)

The pair dined at Italian restaurant Osso in her hometown of Charlotte, NC, and then danced the night away as Gloriana--one of Maynard's favorite bands--played some of their hits.

"She looked happy, like she was having a nice time," an eyewitness tells Us Weekly. Still, the witness says, "Emily didn't kiss Ryan at the end of the song. She just gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek."

An insider admitted Maynard--who is a single mom to daughter Ricki, 5--was extremely nervous about starting Bachelorette production. "She's excited, but she's also scared about it," the source tells Us. "She's very shy, and it's hard to put herself out there again."

Gloriana to Appear in Season 8 of ‘The Bachelorette’

Season 8 of ‘The Bachelorette’ will premiere on ABC Monday, May 14. And while that’s still a couple months away, the filming for the dating show is already well underway. In addition to new bachelorette Emily Maynard, the country group Gloriana will also be making an appearance on the upcoming show.

According to the Charlotte Observer, ABC filmed a Gloriana show at the NC Music Factory Friday, March 16, and that show will become a part of the new season. Supposedly, the blonde bachelorette took her date to dinner at Charlotte’s Osso Restaurant & Lounge, and after their dinner, the two enjoyed a Gloriana show on the outdoor stage at the Music Factory.

Though the band didn’t come right out and say what must-watch show they were going to be appearing on, Gloriana did hint at the filming on their website last week, posting Monday (March 12), “Hey everyone! We are going to be performing our song ‘(Kissed You) Good Night,’ for a special TV taping with ABC! If you are in the Charlotte area, please join us!” According to their site, doors for the show opened at 7PM and the show started at 9PM.

Maynard, next season’s coveted bachelorette, is a 26-year-old single mother who was once engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick, though he died tragically in a 2004 plane crash. Maynard, who lives in Charlotte with her 6-year-old daughter, Ricki, won season 11 of ‘The Bachelor’ and enjoyed a short-lived engagement to Brad Womack.

On a bit of a happier engagement note, Gloriana’s Tom Gossin recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend Jaime Moffett and announced his news to a crowd in Upstate New York March 14. Gossin popped the question March 1 on the couple’s 10-year anniversary. With all that love in the air, it’s not surprising the band took the opportunity to make a cameo on one of the most popular dating shows currently on TV.

Maynard and one lucky suitor danced the night away

Now that Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor is over, the attention is solely focused on Emily Maynard’s upcoming season of The Bachelorette. Following her very public split with former Bachelor Brad Womack, the 26-year-old southern bell is currently searching for love on the ABC reality show.

Maynard’s highly anticipated season is now in production and her first one-on-one date took place on Friday night.

The lucky suitor, who enjoyed a romantic evening with Maynard, is said to be contestant Ryan Bowers. He is 31 and is the owner of a gym in Atlanta.

The two connected over dinner at Osso, an Italian restaurant and lounge, in Maynard’s hometown of Charlotte, NC. After dinner, they danced at the NC Music Factory. The pair also enjoyed a private concert from Maynard’s favorite band, Gloriana.

“She looked happy, like she was having a nice time,” a source told Us Weekly. “Emily didn’t kiss Ryan at the end of the song. She just gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.”

Although Bowers did not receive a passionate goodnight kiss, he did walk away with a rose.

Fans should expect Maynard to move a bit slower than previous Bachelors and Bachelorettes. As a single mother of five-year-old daughter Ricki, she will most likely keep things PG.

“She’s excited, but she’s also scared about it,” an insider disclosed. “She’s very shy, and it’s hard to put herself out there again.”

Maynard has not only grieved the loss of her relationship with Womack, but she also had to suffer through the tragic death of her first love Ricki Hendrick. It will be interesting to see how she holds up throughout the emotionally draining process.

Maynard’s season will be the eighth installment of The Bachelorette. Only two out of the seven former Bachelorettes are still with their final picks but I think Maynard will make it three!
