I agree with both of you .... him liking SM posts of contestants is no big deal, that happens every season where the lead likes the posts of contestants ... no permission needed for that ... even breaking up isn’t a big deal to involve tptb .... BUT once he changed his mind, he would have had to consult them to see how to go about it ...
Tptb would be salivating over their chance to get this on tape.... convincing him that they’d edit it with all their best interests in mind   What they actually do is but raw hamburger in their pockets and then release the hungry lions

Plenty of Bachelors/ettes have broken up with their F1 w/o coordinating with TPTB and even a few prior to the ATFR. Arie could've broken up with Becca prior to telling TPTB. A simple text or call would've done it. And that would've ended the "did the break-up have to be filmed" discussion. But, he didn't. And even if it was in the contract -- that relationship trouble be reported to TPTB first -- Arie hasn't exactly shown himself to be a diligent rule-follower...what with posting pics with Becca and liking Lauren's insta pics and even flying to see Emily w/ his journal in tow.

What's also interesting is that Arie didn't need TPTB to get in touch with Lauren -- he was already liking her insta pics and probably sliding into her DMs. But maybe he did need TPTB to get something he wanted...a ring for Lauren B., a stint on DWTS, a financial incentive, or some other exchangeable commodity. And that's why the break-up/reunion was filmed. Because again, the break-up could've been done off camera and the reunion with Lauren still filmed.

We'll see how it plays out tonight and then sift through all the inside scoop from "sources" and "friends of" that will follow in the days to come. I can't wait!

There would have been a even more outrage. It was going to be on film no matter how he did it.

As for the rules, Arie was a contestant 5 yrs ago now he's the lead.

Assuming the first statement is in your opinion or do you have other inside information?

I'm unclear what your second statement is implying. Can you clarify? I am aware that Arie was a contestant 5 years ago and is now the lead.

IMO, the days of crossovers to DWTS are over.

In case you [generic] haven't heard, there is no regular season of DWTS this spring.  American Idol is going to be on during the Monday time slot from 3/12/18 to 4/23/18.  DWTS is slated to have a very short season instead. Rumors are that it will be all athletes, focusing on Olympians.  DWTS is slated to be aired on 4/30/18, 5/7/18, 5/14/18 and 5/21/18.  As for Arie being on a shortened season of DWTS, with those available dates, I don't see it.  He has a weekend of racing in Perth, Australia on May 4-6.

I'm also not sure ABC will want Arie to be on DWTS with everything that has gone on this season

On a side note, it looks like The Bachelorette will not start airing until at least 5/28/18.

Ita. They won’t want him starting of with Peta then trying to switch to Lindsey

Of course it's always my opinion and the second part was about another post that Arie broke the rules by going to Emily.

I'm guessing they used the classic trick they used with Jason: we'll give you a bad edit if you don't. They couldn't even threaten him with the "you can't reach out to Lauren until you do this", since he already had. They might have also offered him money. Juan Pablo got offered money to propose on AFR, Chris B got offered money to propose on BIP 1, and Ashlee said she she knew someone who was offered money to give a certain person a rose. Everyone has a price. IMO.
