Bachelor Australia - Season 5 - Matty Johnson - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers* #2

Do you think the girls that get to see a family member this week don't get a hometown date? Worries me for poor Elise.  Really like her! even though we don't see her

That'so interesting. Maybe there was something so strong between Matty and Elise right from the beginning that the producers had to hold off showing them together on a SD. Who knows, if this is the case, they've probably been having lots of SQT and the fishing game was show to spark some interest. Just some thoughts. I can't wait for their SD next week as I think it will tell a story.

@dolcimumma.....there will still be HTDs for the F4 girls, we confirmed there was an HTD in the GC via BTS pics, so if Elise makes F4, yeah Papa Stacy will be seen again in Adelaide

Yeah I'm not sure I buy into the idea that what they had was so strong it needs to hidden. If Elise is F2 it's definitely because because of a relationship that developed slowly. I think there's nothing wrong with that kind of relationship but I think Matty had instant and stronger connections with other girls IMO.

My personal opinion is based purely on pre-show reports Matty found it hard to hide his feelings and editing this out would be hard work. And I am trying to find a rationale solution why Elise has been hidden so deeply she almost doesn't exist.

It is actually a good theory because let us remember the interviews of the exit girls. Some of them said that they thought Elisa and Matty had a strong connection. The question is what did they saw what we the viewer didn't?!

I think Matty gave the answers in interviews regarding how things shaped out with IMO Elise. Good thing is we get Matty/Elise double entree next Weds for SQT and Thurs for the SD, we will confirm IMO from Matty why he waited to give her a SD.

At the 10:12 mark in this clip is where he addressed the question of first impressions and whether he made up his mind on night one, he dropped what the hosts called an exclusive "there wil be a slow burn potentially".

ETA: Just to make the point that Matty IMO was referring to Elise in the interviews I referenced. Here is what Elise said in her interivew that was released this week that validated the slow burn that Matty referenced. Basically confirmed IMO that she struggled with her personality coming through.

Asked whether being on the Bachelor was tougher than playing elite-level hockey, Elise doesn’t hesitate in her answer.
“It’s a whole different ball game ... I struggled because sport is sport and you get criticised for your performance, whereas in the house it was based on your personality which is a much more emotional thing so that was a lot harder for me,” she says.

@natik Pleased that you can see what I'm thinking. I think there was a lot that we didn't see and I stick by my theory for the moment.

@natik yes because didn't one of them say (Sharlene I think) I thought it was Elise who had the strong connection in the house but watching it on TV I see Laura having a stronger connection.  That says a lot to me and take it to mean the editors are doing a good job of keeping us guessing because she hasn't seen Elise and Matty's date yet on TV & neither have we!!

I have to agree here. IMO, it would be very surprising for Matty to have had such a strong initial connection but then leave it this long before even having SQT, let alone a SD to explore that connection. The fishing game, also IMO, didn't show huge flashes of chemistry or particular connection, sweet as it was. Like @brownravens said, there's nothing wrong with that, it just is what it is.

I found this interesting as well. If you watch the behind the scene clips on tenplay, you can actually see that the 'order' thing was a bit of fun as a result of a scissor, paper, rock competition between the girls. It was all a bit of fun. Laura won the rock off so she was just joking around claiming she gets to go first because she beat Jennifer.

IMO the editing is trying to put Laura in a bad light (because it's so obvious she wins)
