Nick Viall & Vanessa Grimaldi - Bachelor 21 - Discussion

If they want to get married privately within two years, they can. Des did. It's just they can't shop their wedding around to other networks until their 2 year contract expires. That's all. 

I don't know. I really like them, but I don't personally see N&V rushing to the alter here. I just don't think that's even on their radar yet. And if they do chose to get married, Nick loves the attention. I love him, but it's just how I see him. I also think N&V are opportunists and might jump on a televised wedding if the offer and timing lined up and  was right for them. I just don't know if ABC would give them one though. They currently have 3 other core couples together and in cue. I didn't get the impression that N&V are their personal faves. But who knows.

Nick has a huge family. Vanessa appears to be likewise. One of the bigger complaints about production paid for weddings is the couple not having control over the guest list and being very limited on their personal invites.

I honestly don't want them to have a Bachelor televised wedding. MF & Co will probably invite all of his exes from the Bach world and turn it into a complete circus. Unfortunately, ABC holds the rights to their wedding for 2 years so they might have to acquiesce if they want to get married within that time-frame and ABC wants it televised.

I am torn in that I would love to see the culmination for Nick in seeing his wedding but I also agree with both having such big families it could cause friction in what TBTB want to show vs Nissa's desired wedding. If on tv though you can bet I will watch with giddiness.

ABC didn't want to televise Des's wedding and so they were permitted to get married privately from what I read and remember. If the couples are ready to get married and ABC wants to televise the wedding, I don't think they can refuse.

Kaitlyn & Shawn are not getting one no matter what happens IMO. Jojo and Jordan wouldn't want one and might just push back the wedding till they are out of the clutches of TPTB IMO coz the whole focus by TPTB would be on 'Is Aaron going to show up?'. Ben and Lauren are the only ones I can see getting one and agreeing to it esp. after how HEA ended. It would be the perfect end to their televised story IMO. It's too early for Nick & Vanessa IMO so who knows. I personally don't want it for them and would be happy if ABC refuses.

I agree, there is quite a line up. I think that though N&V may not be TPTB's favorite, I think they will certainly offer them a wedding - which Bachelor has not been offered a wedding? The guest list is another situation however. With regards to the others, K&S definitely will not get a prayer of a televised wedding IMO. With J&J, that's tricky to me. They are not against a wedding, but as you said the Aaron factor may be the deciding one. If there is reconciliation in the family, I have no doubt that TPTB would want to cast a celebrity at one of their televised weddings. For B&L, I'm not too certain. That ship maybe has sailed? They were offered before, then they turned it down. Would TPTB want to reoffer when they have others from whom they can pick?

I will say though that though N&V are very realistic in terms of taking their time re wedding etc., I think having a wedding sooner rather than later may be better for them in terms of V having residency, IMO. How long generally does it take to get citizenship to the US through the "proper channels"? Depending on if that process drags its feet and N&V have to be separated for half of the year, IMO a wedding in a year or so may be very attractive for them , JMO.

From other discussions on this site, I think it has been clarified that the couple can get married within the two yr contract term without it being televised if they choose - tptb has no control over that. It's just that they can't get married with other sponsors or tv networks without permission of tptb, imo. scmiiw

As much as it may seem like it at times, they are not in prison. ABC can't force them to have a televised wedding. If they want to televise the wedding, then ABC has the rights, but they can get married privately whenever they want. And I thought they had negotiated with Des about a wedding at some point, but there were issues that couldn't be worked out so they went the private wedding route?

It was Kaitlyn and Shawn who had said that they wanted to elope while they were on vacation but then they realized that ABC held the rights to their wedding for 2 years. That to me sounds like they can't get married privately without ABC's permission.

Someone who follows Kaitlyn/Shawn more closely can confirm when this happened but that was what they had said at that time. It was Hawaii I think.

I think it was because they wanted to ship their wedding elsewhere, but then realised they couldn't. They could have gotten married ... off tv ... anytime, just that whiny, self entitled brat Kaitlyn wanted it to be on tv.

Nick and Vanessa, probably wouldn't mind having a televised wedding, but I suspect, if they couldn't include all their family and friends, that would be a deal breaker and they would just as happily go the Des route and do their own wedding privately. Nick is savvy enough and probably has enough contacts by now that they could get most of it comped for free.

I have difficulty seeing Kaitlyn do anything without trying to get paid, attention etc for it. This is not a low key person. This is a look at me and tell me how wonderful I am person. JMOAA
