I think just because of how nasty people are being. One of the things I always say is "if you want to feel sad about the state of the world, read the comment section for anything" It doesn't matter what it's about, people are usually being nasty & I've seen a lot of nasty comments directed at all parties today on SM.

I think they are using the wrong terminology IMHO. Heartbroken sounds very selfish if you ask me.

I would say I'm sorry for the events that have unfolded. I'm sorry we won't be able to enjoy the experience of BIP I'm sadden to know BIP has been cancelled, hoping all matters get resolved quickly, blah blah, but heartbroken? doesn't sound right to me.

@Jolena IDK. Any publicity is good publicity unless it translates to sponsors pulling out. Ratings for 'Ette drop a bit each season so this could help with a bit of a spike next week.

Yeah, I feel like the usage of heartbroken doesn't fit right with the situation, especially when it's unclear whether they're heartbroken about the lost opportunity or they're heartbroken on behalf of the possible victim(s). It makes it open to interpretation... and clearly there's no unanimous agreement on the meaning behind the tweets.

I think, at this point, if they're contractually or legally obligated to not speak about the events that transpired while filming, they should just avoid tweeting about it altogether. Don't post vague messages, don't like posts that show which side you're on... It's ill-advised, IMO.

She didn't call r*pe. She even said she doesn't blame Demario, since he was drunk too. Basically she just thinks she was in no state to give consent and she probably wasn't, if she didn't remember anything the next day until people started telling her about it. Her issue seems to be with producers not stepping in despite others allegedly voicing their concerns and I tend to think it has some merit, since it was supposedly a producer who filed a complaint, not Corinne herself. I don't think a producer would put their job on the line just based on some hearsay from a single source. JMO.

I think TPTB got what they deserved. I've been so sick of their actions for the past several years.

Thanks for clarifying the situation.

No innocent parties here ... drunks wanting to be babysat because they let themselves get totally sh!t-faced ... production, who's looking for ratings at any cost .... and so called friends letting it go on .... this is why I dont watch BIP .... theyre pretty much just a bunch if losers IMO ...
With the exception of a few ...

Yep, that's what the lawyer I saw discussing it said.

Post by FieldofDreams Mon Jun 12, 2017 10:51 pm

Hi there! My first time posting here, but longtime lurker and fan of you guys. I actually work in the media industry, but on the college and professional sports side. Reality TV is a completely different ballgame, but it's similar in many ways, too, especially when dealing with young adults. We are often at odds with sexual consent because many questions come up that don't have easy answers.

In college, this all changed in 2011 and students can now formally file complaints if their sexual assault or harassment cases weren’t handled properly by their college.

Protocols were set in place, but they're rarely consistent. I share this only because I've seen what's happening with BIP play out many times over on the sports side. It does not matter if Corrine or Demario have a past. It only matters is they were drunk because legally "Consent cannot be obtained from someone who ...is mentally or physically incapacitated, whether due to alcohol, drugs, or some other condition. A person is mentally or physically incapacitated when that person lacks the ability to make or act on considered decisions to engage in sexual activity."

I'm actually shocked that Corinne and Demario have not made any criminal filings because it appears what happened here is the very definition of sexual coersion. It can be verbal and emotional pressure, giving you alcohol to loosen up, egging on in the form of statements that make you feel pressured, guilt or shame, etc.

I also look at it this way:

They wouldn't allow Corinne and Demario to drive drunk. They'd step in realizing they're unable to properly consent to driving. We saw security step in when Chad was drunk and threatened other contestants physically. They feared someone would get hurt and intervened. So why didn't they extend the same protocol with this incident? Where do they draw the line of consent? I do not believe Corinne and Demario are at fault; the fault lies on the show's production. They pushed the limits a little too far this time, and since the two "victims" are "villains" I suspect the show imagined the public would blame the contestants. They were easy bait.

I share this just to say that yes, Corinne, has a past and a history, but that doesn't make her any less deserving of a thorough investigation. We (the public) really need to press Warner Brothers and The Bachelore/ette how it even got to this. It'd be a different story if they were in their private rooms because fault lies on the participating individuals. But from my understanding, this sexual scene played out right in front of producers! We've seen them do this in the past, just this time a producer was bold enough to report the misconduct.

Also, don't always trust sources like People. The Bachelor franchise and People have a cross-partnership with each other and the sources are likely from the show or contestants they allowed to speak. Be mindful of every story because the person has an agenda. Some might question Demario's and Corinne's choice to speak with TMZ, but that's likely the only outlet willing to tell their side of the story without bias. Most tabloids and entertainment sites fall under the Big 6 media umbrella. The industry is small and will blackball you, as we once learned with LA Times reporter Amy Kauffman. She was banned from the Bachelorette for writing a 'negative' story about the show. The franchise controls the industry a lot more than people realize:
https://www.google.com/amp/jezebel.com/the-bachlorette-denies-reporter-access-because-shes-too-1580037766/amp

Even Elan Gale once went to great lengths to tell that odd Thanksgiving story that went viral and then admitted it was all a hoax. It created a lie that went viral with no shame. He's a master manipulator and storyteller and knows how to create a false reality. This business can be dirty. The producers should've known better and stopped it. Drunken consent is not consent.
