Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion - #5

I personally think HEA season two was always going to to go the the twins. That's essentially the only reason the twins were on Ben and Lauren's version anyway IMO. The end of HEA season 1 was supposed to lead to the wedding. Wth would season 2 be about? Married life? They're obviously not married.

I don't think the franchise cares what happens to these couples. They have their happy endings to showcase as needed and everything else is just business IMO.

Eh I think they care a little bit if couples last. Some more than others. They love to refer back to their golden couples who made it, to try to pretend the show is about love. So imo they care at least a little if/when B&L break up. Because Ben was their "Perfect Ben" and because they might want more than 1 Bachelor lead to get married to the girl he chose. JMO.

I think TPTB probably don't want Ben and Lauren to announce the break up while Nicks season is airing. Not good press for "perfect" Ben to implode while "sincere" Nick is seeking his HEA. IMO when the breakup is able to be announced it will be much harder on Ben. IMO Ben has presented himself as something other than he is and Lauren has been her true self. IMO Ben is more of a politician concerned with his image and Lauren actually says what she thinks.
IMO the Bachelorettes have a much better success rate because they are Women who actually know what they want.

It seems like a lot of the men regress after being part of this franchise and not progress like most of the women do.

I always liked Ben. But I have more respect for Lauren not being a hypocrite and acting like Ben never dissed her on National TV. Sorry but if my fiancé didn't want to set a wedding date then the ring comes off. What is the point?

Ben is an idiot to think that calling off the wedding the way it happened would not lead to collateral damage. She will remember that forever. And no matter how many times you say you love her, she will always feel less loved for it, IMO.

Do we know for a fact that TPTB usually try to dictate when and how breakups are announced? I am just curious.
In the age of social media that seems virtually impossible.

^ I think they will have to wait until March too, plus it gives them a month or two after the rumors first started for them to say in a statement "we had our issues, tried to work through them the past few months, but we realized it's not working and we will remain friends"

It's simply how he works. It's past history with many, many TB couples.

They probably have been using some general confidentiality clause to intimidate people and make them cooperate, but they would never really try to drag someone to court.

I guess my point is that the days are over when they could set up some dramatic TV breakup a la Jake and Vienna. By the time the preparations where finished the story would already be out in the form of nasty subtweets (all JMO, and I am speaking in general and NOT about B&L ).
