Re: Bachelor 21 - Nick Viall - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers* #2
Somewhere upthread was a comment that Nick is 36 years old; maybe @Auntieslove who is our guru at all things bachelor, could put together a synopsis of the ages of each of the Bachelors since Alex Michel. I know that Brad Womack was 38 when he graced our screens the second time. I'm thoroughly enjoying the brew-ha-ha Nick Viall and TPTB have created on this board, pre-season and pre-filming it's getting me back here on a daily basis to see wassup!

Too many great posts to quote. I love all the talks Nick generates, from fans and non fans. I also hope for a group of great women this sedan. Excited for this season, train wreck or love story, I am ready!

Maybe a little *too* bubbly. I like Julianne a lot, and she has tons of energy and talent. But she is not everyone's cup of tea. I don't think she would ever have been a good match for Nick nor vice-versa.
I had the pleasure of spending a day in her company many years ago, just before she hit it big. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and excited for the opportunities coming her way. She also draws every eye within a 100 foot radius or more.
We all have an idea of what Nick will want in a woman, but he may just surprise us! And it wouldn't shock me if he falls in love with more than one.

I actually don't think Nick made any deal with TPTB regarding BIP. But the experience teaches and he took the lessons to heart. Responding to Stuck in Josh's thread ... that's what I meant with "he's not innocent". He realized long ago how show works, he now knows how to use the words so that they can't get reconstructed (though the edit still does wonders) ... and also knew to not involve himself much in the conversations that were leading to drama, because he expected some to begin with. That's what "saved" him, his analytical mind, trying to predict the outcome and he did it good. - IMO ... That said, he was also lucky, because TPTB had another angle and Nick this time suited them better as a "good, reasonable guy". Luck ... that he will pay ... The Bachelor ... I'm prepared for **** go down.ironcat wrote:I still think that when producers were recruiting Nick to go on BIP (in order to have the Josh/Nick showdown which was to be a primary story line), they threw out to him, as a carrot, the possibility of giving him a good edit (while Josh got a bad edit) in order to rehabilitate his image, with the hint that it could lead to giving him the Bachelor role if it worked. *snipped*
I'll actually give Nick credit for being smart enough to have not gone on BIP without first trying to elicit some assurances from producers that he wouldn't be villainized again. He would have been looking to get something out of the appearance besides the small stipend, free drinks, and three weeks in the bug infested heat. At least I hope he would.
Oh, and I wish he would be that "smart enough" to actually done it, make a good deal with a devil ... but I realized that I had too big of an opinion of Nick's smart-a$$ ... the truth about a plane video landed me on the real ground. He is still way too much "positive" about TPTB ... and I'm only looking forward to the day that he divorces them.
Comfort Zone is just a prison of our own making. / I hope you dance.

Haha yea exactly! hes goes after the unattainable IMO. Yea I know Kaitlin and andI maybe weren't super hot, but they were unattainable. He went after Jen cu she was hot, but it was to easy. A deal with TPTB regarding an edit? Regarding anything?
Are we talking about TB?

He turns 36 this month on the 28th. A lovely Libran- balance is their m.o. It really amuses me how over 30's are seen as over the hill when in reality there are stats to support the fact that everyone is getting married older & settling down in their 30's rather than 20's. There is a lot more chance a 20's marriage will end in divorce. Jus sayin! In the UK there is a lot less pressure to marry young. I met my future husband aged 36 and many many of my friends found their partners in their thirties. I just think it is so much more common now & surely tv might finally reflect that. Lets hope Nicks women will be at least in their late 20s or as someone said, he will be their big brother & imo he will eliminate them early. Also these days it is pretty easy to stay looking great and youthful into your 40s without surgery, it's all pma and being excited about life. All imo.

IMO many women in their 30's (sometimes 20's) wear their confidence better than most wear the latest trends. It's what accounts for a sense of presence when they enter a room. It's why they fill space instead of shrink in space.
They can be charismatic or poised; alluring or matter of fact. But above all, they are confident to the core - otherwise they are girls and we've had far too many of the latter and not enough of the real thing on this franchise.
bring on the real thing. Not only for Nick but because we need a Bette to follow that embodies womanhood.

^Yes I agree notarose, real women who know who they are, have dealt with their issues, and have worked out what they are actually looking for- to last a lifetime. And btw that's not a dig at young women in their early 20s, I was one too, it's just that in most cases I feel that you haven't come to terms with yourself until your late 20s. We've seen a lot of the insecurities played out with the 'girls' in past seasons. Then again if I think of AshleyI, she seems 21 mentally, rather than 28, so there can be exceptions. I also don't think anyone who hasn't been through a heartbreak or two should apply! I think Nick is a mature man with some great life advice for people, so really he will need someone with some depth and wisdom for things to work well.
The presence you speak of notarose I agree with, I wouldn't go back to my twenties if I had the choice, by thirties you actually like yourself and have more confidence about saying what you will or will not expect/tolerate from a partner. It's weird, when I think about it I hated my appearance (for no good reason) the most when I was supposedly young and beautiful, yet I feel much more beautiful and cool now.
Another thought on Nick's current journey, at 36 he will genuinely want to get married and have kids asap. He's been seeking his person for years now. In fact he found love twice but it was simply not returned and his heart was smashed both times. It's not only commendable he's out there still looking, it's a bit of a miracle - he's risking his heart once again. I remember how it felt to be looking and hoping I might find my person, being afraid it might never happen and looking everywhere then losing hope, then looking again.
It is hard going on your spirit, despite having a full life. If you always wanted marriage then it's difficult to be patient and accept 'it'll happen when you're not looking' as you feel you really in fact should be looking all the hours of the day just in case 'your person' fell down the side of the sofa, or under a rock, or you left them in a taxi. Your person is very unlikely to be on Tinder btw. So I guess this is why I can relate to Nick, aside from the many other charms I see in him, he is sincerely (in the words of Yes) 'going for the one'. The man is supposed to quest and that is what he is doing. More power to him and can't wait to see a happy ending to the journey. All imo.

I will be very surprised if Nick ends up with someone 30+. Even though AndI/Kaitlin are 29, 31. But I hope he does.

While I agree that maturity occurs as one ages, I also believe that maturity is not always directly related to a number. Maturity can come from many things, not just years on this earth. I hope to see Nick with a woman that exudes confidence and maturity. A woman who knows who she is and what she wants in life. Otherwise, her age is just a number to me.
And yes Nibbles, a woman who loves Nick for who he is... Flaws and all.
