Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

It was always rumored Emily Maynard got paid the highest amount ever (maybe around 200-250K was the rumored amount), and Ashley H. the lowest base pay (50K). Everyone other lead falls in that range, depending how much they want you, etc, etc. it was rumored back in the day Reid tried to negotiate for $300K and the show wouldn't give in to his demands, so we ended up with Jake Pavelka (lucky us).

I've followed and watched this show for a long time. Contestants always, always maintain they don't get paid. They get exposure, self-promotion, free travel and vacay, some gifted clothing/makeup items, the experience, and "the chance to find love." No monetary earnings, unless they do promotional stuff through SM and/or paid appearances after the show is done filming, which is separate from the show. Many, if not most do nowadays if you make it far enough and that's how most stay unemployed after doing the show. Bringing it back to Lauren, I have no idea how she isn't working, but I have to imagine her fiancé is helping to support her. He kind of hinted as much anyway. Her fiancé did make, at minimum, like $50K on the show, but probably more, plus whatever in appearance fees for the few that they have done, and he's back at work - his normal 9-5. Lauren will likely go back to work in some capacity soon.

Ben said he has been a whole year involved in these shows. I wouldn't expect him to do it for nothing. I'm sure CH gets a substantial salary and regular TV stars get enormous salaries. I,ve read that the reality shows are much cheaper to produce than others,so hence their popularity.

This is why Reality Television just won't die. Survivor, The Bachelor, Amazing Race, etc, etc. These shows are all 15 years+ old by now! Ancient for TV standards. They are cheap as crap to produce, and they get good to great ratings. So, that's why we get 2, sometimes 3 hour Bachelor shows. It's cheap as crap, and they get good ratings. ABC can fill an entire night for next to nothing as compared to producing a scripted show.

Well in this situation of her right now being engaged publicly I do think it is a little hard for Lauren to continue being a flight attendant. I mean she is for sure going to make others job  difficult  as well the passengers on the plane while she's on duty in some capacity. I know no one knows how she can manage to do her work without approaching her . Wether she likes it or not she is now famous . Even she said she will get back soon . But my point is how could she will make sure her job would be the same again . Now a days watching this dating show lots of people are . Their sm everyone is gagging them . Jmo

Early on in the franchise there was talk that the f3 or 4 got some money to compensate them for being away so long but not that kind of money. I wonder if they did it for a while? I know a lot of cast since have said they get nothing.

I think that piece was saying that pay for lead starts at around $100,000, not that it's what Ben got. They don't seem to have any real info though. Hardly anyone confirms what they got.

Andi and Kaitlyn got $50,000 by doing the show not sure how much the others . But reporting Ben received more than what the lead received for being f3 is just bs to me . No way !

Not only that, but I heard Ben was taken by TPTB on what they paid him. They got him for a bargain is what I heard. I'm pretty sure other members on this forum heard likewise.

So wait. If Ben really didn't get paid much to be the Bachelor, is opting out of Twitter/SM promotion deals, isn't doing many paid appearances, doesn't have a business to promote, is going back to his normal job that he had before the show- What did he get out of it? Answer: A fiancé who I believe he stands a better than average shot of actually marrying. Dang- yeah, he's my favorite Bachelor. :Nod: Just my opinion.

Well he still got paid tho, might not be substantial but imo nothing less than 50k. He was a fool to not negotiate a better deal

I don't think it would be a security risk for her, or people doing things to her, but the general commotion, blocking the aisles etc could potentially not be so safe. Lauren hasn't said anything about it herself, it's just what I think. They want the flights to go smoothly all around, and fans approaching a flight attendant will hinder the smooth flying. Jmo.

That sounds so minor. Blocking aisles? Normal people do that. And its a flight attendants job to facilitate that movement so they get in their seats. There are much worse behavior airplane than "fans" approaching, but that is JMO. I hope that is not her excuse (and don't think that it is either).

He had good ratings and the producers loved him , he really was one of their best bachelors. If he only got 50k for the show I would bet he will def negotiate a better deal for TV wedding . , and he should.
