This reason could make as much sense as anything else I've read - or thought of. I sort of remember Chris S saying he was told that a TV wedding didn't make financial sense to the network but that could be the case if what he and Des wanted didn't match up well with what ABC was willing to pay for.

Also at that time the franchise had a Bachelor wedding in the queue (Sean and Catherine) and they may well have thought there was little point in investing in another wedding from back to back seasons.

I do think they might possibly look at elapsed time since the last wedding when they consider a new one. To an extent even though the show's demographic doesn't change that much the audience may as younger viewers mature fall into the demographic. For example - how many in the current viewer demographic remember Trista & Ryan's wedding? It's just possible to me that every couple of years they want a wedding just to keep viewers reminded of the myth that this show really is about finding love.

Once again Lucas, I totally agree with your post. I think there could be many factors that went into Chres getting the tv wedding shaft, one being it was back to back with SeanCat, and there was just wedding saturation. Ben and Lauren actually find themselves in a similar predicament - they are also back to back with Kaitlyn and Shawn. The network likely won't give both weddings, but if I had to guess and they give one out, I think it would go to Ben and Lauren for a variety of reasons.

Another factor that I always thought may have factored in was Des' wedding business. That's her livelyhood, and she obviously probably wanted a lot of creative control over her day. I'm not sure how much control ABC gives you when you plan these things, so that could be another factor for why Chres didn't pursue the tv option very hard. As always, just my speculation.

^^ Since November 18th. Just over 5 months. I always say the first big hurdle is getting past the 6 month mark for these couples. Sooooo many break up around that point for whatever reason. Like well over half the couples - out of 31 seasons - were broken up at or before 6 months. BenLo is getting close to that bench mark. I don't see them breaking up anytime soon. JMO.

If it was me, I'd jump at the opportunity of Janner type of deal, having the wedding in the middle of a celebratory episode instead of a stand alone wedding episode.

I agree. I personally found the Janner wedding one of the most tastefully done, and one of the more entertaining to watch sandwiched in the special, rather than a stand alone with TONS of opportunity for scrutiny from the general public (see: Grown Sexy with the Consumation Station video cam). Also, for me, I thought my wedding was a lot of pressure with tons of eyes on me (obviously not televised), so I'd like a little of the pressure off of a full blown 2 hours. Lauren and Ben seem a little more private and introverted, not in this for the fame, a little more low key. I don't think they'd mind sharing their day in a special similar to Janner and neither would I as a fan. That being said, it's not gonna shock me if they get offered the full blown 2 hour special like Jolly, Jash & SeanCat got. No one is getting the 3 episode event like Trista and Ryan ever again. And that's fine, cause that was overkill. And I was a fan of them.

So did I. IMO when it comes to a wedding the show needs to forgo the drama and show it as a celebration - which is really what it should be. Ben and Lauren have said they want their reception to be a reason for a lot of friends and family to come together and celebrate and I think if they go with a televised wedding that's what I hope they would stick to their guns on.

ITA with both of you. IMO forget all manufactured drama, and instead have a bach nation get together, if all parties agree, at the reception. I loved the whole setting of Janner wedding, it was elegant snd emotional. That's what even a bach wedding should be IMO.

They brought out Lauren's moms wedding dress, and she posted a pic of a wedding planning magazine. That's all I've seen on sm. Maybe just collecting ideas, figuring out what kind of dress she wants. IMO she'll unpack first, before any big planning.

They were at a Trail Blazers game in Portland on April 7 where Lauren told Ben she wanted to start wedding planning, and it was reported in a local TV interview. AFAIK this is the first time it's been publicly reported that they are talking about their wedding; I suspect it's more of a funny anecdote than much more.

I think there's a whole lot of discussions they will have but one central issue IMO is televised or not? The answer to that is going to make a big difference in just about everything they would plan and I think their biggest challenge near term is getting any kind of an answer out of the show and the network.
