Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

I do think this couple will beat the odds . What bothers me is that they were very public about not wanting the media fame sure went by the wayside and fast ! Plenty of coverage and a lot of it is their own doing. Guess the fame is a lot more important that they were willing to admit. I really wish this couple would go back to their normal life's and jobs . I think that they would have a better chance if they did. JMO

IMO them sharing part of their life with us is not chasing fame. They did a couple of charity events and visits to Ben's school. I don't call that chasing fame. At least they are not peddling products like some of the other couples.

Plus, they're still on a bit of post show vacay r&r. Not back at their real jobs yet. They know they have a supportive fanbase who love what they're sharing. IMO, they'll be successful even if they're active on SM sharing their life and love with us now. Ita. They're not chasing fame imo

IMO Posting snapchats and IG's daily is trying to keep their name in the spotlight and that is chasing fame. Please remember that this is my opinion . I wish this couple nothing but the best but like I stated earlier they did say they did not want the media fame.

For me they're in the middle. Not 'look at me me' but still sharing with the fans here and there. I didn't expect them to go away and so far I don't think they're OTT or trying too hard to prove something. I think it's a nice balance.

Whit, I agree. I like the couple. I just prefer the Des and Chris and Ash and JP method. The little I get here and there makes me excited. Those who post too much, including my formerly beloved Nick, I find they are wanting/begging for people to like them and stay relevant. It is just my opinion of what I like. My increasing disinterest in Nick the more he posted on SM proved to me that I just like the ones who don't overshare better.

But IMO posting daily on SM does not equal getting out of the spotlight and going back to normal life, especially for two people who did not post daily on SM before the show.

This article quotes Life & Style. The same crap mag that had Ashley and JP breaking up due to his "jealousy" about 2 weeks after their finale. The same mag that had Chris and Des breaking up because of Brooks. And that right there should give you a pause. Other things that make this "article" ridiculous:

1. Really? Regurgitating JoJo drama? That's doubtful and dumb. Same rumors that were around before the finale even aired. I think it shows the tabs really have nothing to play with and they are reaching.

2. EVERY successful couple has these break up rumors that come out in In Touch or OK! or L&S. Both Des and Shawn seperately warned this couple these stories were coming. It's par for the course. Until US Weekly comes out with some bombshell, then I just don't care.

3. They have literally been inseparable from each other since March 14th. WITH families and friends also involved. Sorry- but I followed Emily and Jef vigorously. And there are big differences between the 2 couples. Yes- both had/have happy stuff on SM. But with Emily and Jef, they weren't always together. They separated soon after their New York press tour, got back together for Africa, separated again, Jef moved to North Carolina by himself with the help of a friend (Em was MIA), and then there were problems as reported by US Weekly. Jef's family was slightly involved, but NOT to the extent that the Bushnell's and the Higgins have been involved. And Emily's family was completely MIA. Then Jef's weird brother HIMSELF actually broke the first cheating rumor to US. So Jef and Em never had that kind of support like Lauren and Ben do. The extent to which their families have connected show me that they think this is real. Likewise, Lauren's best friend spent the day with them, and she seemed THRILLED for Lauren on SM congratulating her on her engagement. Ditto Ben's friends. It sounds like people surrounding this couple are taking them seriously. I think we should take them seriously too.

That is such an interesting question . She even had a few more hours with end family after Ben left and her bros could have further discussed things with her. How did she go to FD so gung-ho ? Did she know the order of the FD dates and surmised that Ben told her first that he loved her ? In one of her interviews, the two ILY's didn't really bother her. Weird because editing showed it did. Jmo.

JoJo said while watching the show at home she saw the Ben and Lauren connection, not while she was there. Until, Ben told her on LCD that he loved Lauren too, I understand her confusion, while filming. The lead is not supposed to say ILY to any one but the final one. Her demeanor changed after that point of the LCD, but until then she was blinded by the ILY.

All of course is JMO.

Also, it is over and since Ben and Lauren are happy and JoJo is bachelorette and not bringing it up anymore we might be Again JMO

Not to beat a dead horse, because none of this matters anymore- but there are a few ITMs of JoJo throughout filming talking about Lauren and Ben's clear connection. She mentioned it in the Bahamas and in Warsaw for sure. So she noticed during filming. This is all moot though.

I think the snap chats and twitter that they are sharing with their fans is fine. If they were after fame im sure he would have done DWTS. I also think if they are antisipating a TV wedding then they have to stay in the spot light to some extent at least leading up to the wedding. jmo

Mostly true, except that Jef's parents were on a mission in SC and not supposed to leave the state/area. Whatever the criticism of Jef, his parents took they fairly seriously. Even now, with husband and baby three on the way, you don't see Emily's family terribly involved. I haven't read her book, but what I have heard was her father was distant/absent growing up and mom is a bit odd. Emily also had a daughter to take care of. At the time almost all the JEM fans were just as sure as the BenLo ones are now. It is part of fandom.

Ben and Lauren both have fantastic loving families, who were also very involved in their children's lives before the show.

Most of these articles are probably crap. But they are crap we are allowed to discuss in a general discussion thread.

I hope it never happens, but if Ben is stupid enough to sext someone else, I have a feeling Lauren's brother might post something unfavorable about Ben.

I doubt that will happen, but just as others love BenLo, some are allowed to have hesitation or doubt. And that can change, I love Des and Chris now, but I spent the first six months looking for signs that she was not happy and was regretting settling. Opps, I was totally wrong on that! Thank goodness we aren't all alike, that would be boring.

Since I had real life to take care of, I saw episode one, two and the finale. Sorry if I misspoke on JoJo. Thankfully, she has moved on, given Ben and Lauren support and from what I have read Lauren support after FRC and during airing, so IMO, I just don't care what JoJo did or said. Ben and Lauren both seem okay with her. Vastly different than Kaitlyn towards Nick, so to me it just doesn't matter.

Regarding their snap chats and SM, I think they are just having fun. None of it is OTT to me. They haven't sold out yet to endorcement deals, Ben turned down DWTS. For the most part, they are doing normal things first in Indiana, and now in Denver- next week Portland. The only engagements they have done have been for BYC - a non-profit close to Ben. The SM is just fun for them. It must be a very exciting time in their lives and they want to share some of that wth fans. I think they are hitting a nice balance.

Keep in mind Jash and Des/Chris didn't do snapchat cause it didn't exist for them when their seasons aired! If it had been around, they probably would have.

Not sure about the other couples. Ashley actually had to complete dental school and JP has always worked a real career. Des has her blog and snapchat would advertise that, do they do it? I honestly don't know. I just think both those couples are not into the daily overshare. Jash did a sonogram on live TV, so hey, no one is perfect

IMO, daily SM does not equal getting back to normal life and out of the spotlight. Which is perfectly okay. A tv wedding can be worth a lot of money. I admire the failure to discuss doing DWTS, since I believe Ben did say there was discussion but not really a formal offer. I think that takes a sharp focus off the new relationship. They are focusing on each other, I like that. But IMO, they have not returned to what was their pre show normal and by sharing daily they are keeping themselves relevant and in the spotlight.
