Ben Higgins - Lauren Bushnell - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

I actually said I was disappointed in how public they were being. It allows they plenty of freebies. NBA tickets and such, but then people feel they know you and can say anything they want. As long as Ben and Lauren share as much as they do it will keep happening. It still happens to SeanCat, who are pretty close to daily posters too.

It isn't necessarily fair, just what happens when you chose to what I consider over share. All is JMO.

Happens all the time for/with those in the spotlight. For some reason respect for personal boundaries and space go out the window. The attention will slowly wear off, but there will always be some overzealous fans.  They have the capability to block fans when needed or make accounts private.

IMO, they need to just ignore it on SM and if they feel too invade in public ask nicely for the fan(s) to back off and give them space.  Instead of say, throwing a hissy fit and declaring no more pictures    .  They will figure out how to deal with and handle it the way they best see fit.  JMO.

I'm willing to bet that Lauren or Ben do not and will not read all their IG comments/teeets. They have tweeted back people who have been positive & supportive. In one interview, Lauren commented on how there were people arguing in the comments section of her picture, and she didn't get it. I bet they don't even read IG comments anymore. I mean how could they possibly care or have time to read 800+ comments of tagged friends or irrelevant comments.

At the end of the day, they come home to each other, and fans are just that. Ben is just being the gentlemen and he is truly genuine for all the pictures, videos, shout outs, etc to all the fans. Ben seems to respect bachelor nation, and is so thankful for the support and opportunity. From what we've seen, Lauren seems to be supportive of Ben giving back to fans.

I don't necessarily think they over share, but I do think Lauren shares really random stuff on snapchat. It usually feels rushed, totally uninteresting and not entertaining. JMO. So maybe that is oversharing....just posting some random video for the purpose of sharing something on SM.

Anyway, I actually like them a lot. But I think Lauren should stay off of snapchat and stick to instagram or something. She's not good at snapchat.

PS - to be fair, I'm not on snapchat and I just watch the videos that get posted of it. So maybe that is what people do on snapchat? If so, I don't want to be on it. It's really boring.

I hope they don't get any of the overzealous fans coming up to them in public. Those are the ones you could do without. Fans saying hi and politely asking for pics is fine. Fans stalking them all over a city, basically attacking them, getting handsy, etc. is really the stuff that has no place.

Some people really lose boundaries with celebs. Stalking, filming their every move, grabbing azz etc is so normal. And if the celeb reacts negatively, even if polite, they become the jerks. IMO it's the same people who think insulting others on sm is ok.

I have a hard time understanding why they or any one else that goes through this, would care what the lunatics say. If there wasn't 100% trust between them, then there's a problem. Teeny boppers cheerleaders and crazy fans, fantasizing about TB shouldn't be a problem IMO.

Lauren recently discovered S/Chat never used IG or Twitter much. She is not SM savy. IMO she's playing because it's all new to her.

Ben and ABC asked women to "fall in love" with Ben. I am not saying the women are necessarily right, just that it is part of the experience Ben got paid for. The less SM presence and public meet and greets they do, the less opportunity for it to happen. Ben and Lauren have to decide their level of comfort and post and do appearances according to their comfort level.

It maybe weird but it is part of the trade off. Some is joking and if they meet Ben would probably just be happy to have met him.

I agree. You can't expect all the perks that come with being a D-lister if you can't pay the price. They both put themselves on a silly, controversial TV dating show. Never in a million years would I want my girls to do this show. Hopefully Lauren and Ben ignore most of it, and keep open and honest communication between them. They do have a ways to go, and are still navigating post show.

I completely disagree, that by going to a silly TV show, the price they should expect to pay is rude obnoxious people who don't respect basic human boundaries. Taking fan pictures even at inconvenient times, doing pr for the show, yes. But being followed/stalked, pawed at by strangers, I don't think that should ever be the price for anything.

Ben and Lauren seem to be very nice and approachable to anyone going to talk to them or ask for a picture. That should be enough from any reality star or celeb, they shouldn't have to put up with bad or intrusive behaviour. Jmo.

I think we have lost a ton of our privacy in the world as a whole. People in general share way too much of their lives and because of this we feel we know people we don't and take liberties we should not. It may not be right, but it is a known effect of celebrity, even D list bachelor celebrity. Ben knew this could and would happen. He had a group of people who were pro him not being the Bach and chosing Tenley. Ben alone has actually been quiet and not a big over sharer of his life. As a happy couple they are embracing their fans and enjoying some (not all) of the perks. Unfortunately, they like each couple since the SM explosion also pay the price. It isn't right, but it is known, they are no more victim than anyone else. They can limit this by sharing less, but even Des had a woman bad mouth her when Des couldn't wait an extended time to have a pic. It stinks, but it happens.

For me if you chose to be public, this will happen. It just will. I think for now they have chosen to ignore and that is smart. Kaitlyn has shown feeding the trolls does not help.

So for the fan, I would say try to ignore it, just like the couple. I met a guy on a plane who trolls SEC fan football sites, he loves it when posters get mad and attack back. It feeds his need for drama and conflict. Not a great part of SM, but a reality none the less. All JMO

I think there is a danger in our society accepting something because it's the norm. I see two separate issues - people leaving spiteful, hateful comments and women throwing themselves at a man in s committed relationship. To me, it comes down to the golden rule - would I want someone doing this to my mom, my brother, my best friend. Compared to my children's friends and other bachelor couples whose SM I took a peek at, Ben and Lauren are actually pretty quiet on SM, albeit I would agree probably a little naive and inexperienced. Not sure I've seen many perks, aside from a nba game that didn't mean anything sports wise so they were probably trying to unload the tickets and got more benefit out of it then Ben and Lauren did. JMHO

The bottom line for me is how they handle it. And so far, they have been nothing but class. By all accounts, they are polite and kind to everyone that stops them. They take pictures. And they are ignoring the those who are not fans and the psychos on SM. They aren't, for example, fueling the fire by flipping them off in a video while eating a cheeseburger (just the first example that came to my head. No disrespect.) They are pretty much ignoring and being kind and graceful.

How they handle it privately is anyone's guess, but I would hope they keep open communication and are level headed and mature about it with one and other. And if they can't handle it, then this circumstance and being with each other won't last.

Though I personally think their SM is pretty tame and very in moderation compared to some others, especially whilst hot off the show, if it's really a problem, they could do what real celebrities do and hide out and get off SM all together.
