I want to know why Ben wasn't honest with Lauren about telling Jojo he loved her before the FRC.

Maybe it's because Jojo asked and Lauren didn't.

Maybe Jojo wanted to force Ben to pick her while Lauren let it be his decision.

IMO - some possible reasons:

1 - The show storyline shows Ben saying that in order to love one woman he has to say goodbye to the other. Since he will say goodbye to JoJo he tells JoJo which sets the stage for why he will say goodbye to her. He's not going to be saying goodbye to Lauren so the storyline doesn't require him to say anything to her.

2 - Privacy - after the FD Ben has no ability to talk privately to Lauren (forget about the bathroom trick - that doesn't work based on what we saw) and won't until he proposes to her and the cameras are off and they are truly alone. At that point he can tell her the full truth about everything that happened and TPTB no longer have any reason to care or interfere. I don't know what the full truth really is but IMO it's not exactly what the show is giving us - that's only the show storyline. So he would logically wait for that opportunity.

JoJo pushed for the issue, Lauren didn't.
Lauren left it up to him to tell her when he was ready, JoJo wanted answers now.

Or maybe Ben felt he owed answers to JoJo why he couldn't pick her, why he was letting her go, whereas he wanted to wait until they were off camera with Lauren and he could explain it all to her properly.

Ben had private time with Lauren in FD after he told Jojo he loved her.

Nothing on this show is 100% private. Everything you say or do can be used until the FRC.

I don't think it was about Ben being untruthful with the women. It probably did boil down to just one asking and the other one didn't. Could be that Lauren was more confident about her relationship with Ben and didn't need the reassurance that JoJo did ( fear of being blindsided). Lauren, by not asking, might be trying to avoid the truth/getting hurt whereas Jojo wants the truth so she can prepare herself for it. It's difficult to know what makes people tick.

Lauren had strong suspicions .. But by Ben choosing her she had some .. Tho not all .. Answers to those

IMO it also shows Lauren and JoJo, how different their personalities are. Jojo is more in your face, confrontational of issues at hand. Lauren takes more laid back approach. IMO it showed well with their families. JoJo's brothers were very 'in your face', 'we demand answers now!' While Lauren's family asked the same questions but in a very different manner.

And per Ben himself .. On the first night they were alone after the FRC .. He came clean about everything that went on

I think there's another difference .
Jojo seems tough on the outside but is emotionally weaker on the inside
Lauren is seems gentler in nature on the outside but is emotionally stronger on the inside.

Those two differences produce different type of women and different types of relationships.
