Yeah, that ring is wayyy too ornate and heirloom looking. I wish he went with a more modern look but I guess Ben is a traditional guy. He went with the most detail.

No, she isn't. Any jeweler will gladly trade the stone and/or setting in for something else. I have done it and know. LOL
I had a beautiful ring my DH and I had customized. Then the ring got destroyed. I still had the stone however and ran out and put it in a simple setting to have a ring on my finger, I had two small preschoolers and no time to focus on what I really wanted. Fast forward to our 25th anniversary: I had our jeweler make up a design I love and still cherish.
