Awkward that his mom picks JoJo for him, must make Lauren feel a little bad. I just think JoJo is more outgoing, so she might give off a warmer first impression. Lauren is a little more reserved, so I could see why she felt more comfortable around JoJo at first. IMO Ben's is really the only opinion that matters - or should matter - to Ben. It's not his mother nor his father that is choosing a wife - it's Ben who's choosing his wife - and that's a choice that only Ben can make for himself. IMO a parent's role at this time in their children's life is to love and support the decisions they make - not to make decisions for them.

That's what I remember too. I also remember that Catherine and Sean's father had a "moment" together - where it seemed like his father saw in Catherine the love she had for Sean and IMO that was when he knew who Sean would pick.

Ben's mother gravitated to JoJo because Ben said that JoJo is the "first person who will reassure me and tell me it's going to be OK" (and there's no evidence that I saw to suggest she's met either girl at this time so IMO she's only going by what Ben told her about JoJo - not anything she's seen of someone she's never met).

But in the clip of Lauren it's Lauren who realizes that Ben has something heavy on his mind and she's the one who's holding his head and giving him comfort. Lauren has lots of things on her mind but she also empathizes that Ben does as well. "I'm so confident in us but at the same time Ben spent the last date with JoJo and I don't know where their relationship was and I don't know where it's progressed. I don't know what hard decisions he has to make because I'm not in that position." Lauren never questions her feelings for Ben and while she worries, she never pulls back.

In the clip with JoJo, she's questioning if she and Ben are on the same page she once though they were on. "Do I love him more than he loves me? Am I seeing something completely different? Tonight is more important to me now that I thought it was going to be. I want to know more about how he's feeling". She's starting to take the first "baby" steps at pulling back from Ben.

So who is the one who's actually doing the reassuring and providing the support here?

They often say - when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Lauren is showing how tough she can be.

Your reference to reassurance is in one episode but JoJo has played that role all throughout. So, IMO, she's more consistent in that regard.

First off when I first saw the video of Ben's mom preferring Jojo, I felt like I wanted to fight her . I felt so protective over Lauren. I do believe Lauren has had it tough. I can't imagine hearing that the guy you are so in love with couldn't decide if he wanted you or the other woman up until the day of the proposal. Then now you will hear that Ben's mom preferred the other girl. Like My feelings are hurt and I don't even know these people personally. But I have a thought about Ben's mom liking Jojo better. Here are some things I have thought of while trying to get over this .
1. It was noted earlier that Lauren is quieter and more reserved than Jojo. Jojo probably impressed the mom because maybe she talked more and was more personable? Jojo seems more comfortable expressing her thoughts and Ben's mom appears to be the same.
2. We probably aren't seeing the entire convo obviously, including Dad's take on it.
3. I am sure Ben shared about how Jojo's family was difficult and how Lauren's family is so close and how they totally embraced him. I know a mother wants their son to be loved, but maybe she is thinking if he is with Lauren, he will be spending a lot of time wrapped up with her family, traveling and stuff. Could it subconsciously feel threatening to a mom when it comes to her only son? Maybe that is a dumb thought to have and maybe I am grasping at straws now .

I can see Lauren telling Ben to just lay it all out there, no wonder he says he put his F1 'through hell'..

I don't think she says JoJo is way more my style to her son, but to Dad. There's a background scene change when we see her saying something that seems to be to Ben directly.
