Re: Marriage Boot Camp - Season 4 - *Sleuthing Spoilers* - Discussion
I watched the first two epis only because I was curious to see SeanCat. After that, I decided scrubbing my bathroom from top to bottom with an old toothbrush would be more entertaining.
For the two epis I watched, excluding SeanCat, my thought was WTF would anyone want to try to save these marriages\relationships, much less so called professionals.
I won't watch but a fitting finale imo would be to have Divorce Court Judge come back and divorce all the couples except SeanCat.
P.S. My bathroom is now very clean.

I didn't realise this was still on. I thought the season was over.

I also gave up after two episodes. I might enjoy snarking on SeanCat, but those are hours of my life I will never get back. Any interesting tidbits since then?

One of the couple's fights constantly and just revealed they are pregnant. Sugar Bear was experimenting with guys. And two people who are part of different couples have a past together. That's the focus of every episode it seems.

I just record and then speed through most of it so I only waste a few minutes.mindless wrote:I also gave up after two episodes. I might enjoy snarking on SeanCat, but those are hours of my life I will never get back. Any interesting tidbits since then?
The main exercise last week was on communicating respectfully with your partner. First part of the task was one partner putting together a bed that is in pieces while the other partner gives instructions from the packing list. Sarah (building bed) and Ink (giving directions) did very well & were in the lead, even though they were arguing before the exercise. Sean and Catherine were shown to be extremely competitive once again. Sean completely ignored Catherine who was trying to give him instructions when Sarah & Ink were further ahead in an effort to "win". Sean said he ignored her to focus on winning and could do it better without her instruction. Catherine sounded hurt and frustrated. It was an interesting glimpse into Sean & Catherine's real relationship. I can see why Catherine says she doesn't feel "equal" to Sean in their relationship and why she has said Sean doesn't validate her opinions / feelings. The second part of the task was even worse when Sean was giving Catherine instructions.
Last night's show addressed how intimacy in your relationship is not the same as sex. The couples used look-alike puppets to communicate. Sean & Catherine were asked how they handled intimacy during their no sex stage prior to marriage. Catherine said they indulged in making out with Sean touching her boobs and heavy grinding. (Catherine's words, not mine).
Judge Toler didn't focus on Sean & Catherine's sex life during her comments to them after the day's exercises. She called Sean out on not defending or supporting Catherine during an argument she had with Ink. Ink & Catherine had words at breakfast with Catherine going off to her bedroom. Sean didn't say a word. Then Ink went to their bedroom (Sean was present) asking Catherine if/why she was mad at him after breakfast. The conversation got a little heated with Catherine being emotional and defensive. Sean didn't say a word. Does it really take a third party to make you aware that you should defend & support your spouse? He started to argue with Judge Toler and she shut him down in a hurry, defending Catherine. Wow Sean.
I can certainly see why Sean tried to get out in front of this by writing his blog and giving interviews about this being just another money grab. That probably paints a prettier picture for viewers than this on-going look at the real issues in their marriage. This also shows that there is some "real" in reality tv. IMO.

Thanks for posting, FLChica. It sounds like Sean is a real treat He's always come across IMO, like he is above everyone (in his mind) so it's no surprise he was acting that way even with Cat. Sounds stifling, imo.

Thanks for the summaries, guys!
Can't say I'm surprised about Sean's way of handling things. I wouldn't be happy with such a "partnership", but to each their own I guess.

The puppet "exercise" had the couples act out via lookalike puppets what their sex lives looked like in the past and what they look like now. The couples used the puppets on a bed to show via extreme TMI of what sex for them is like. They also voiced their opinions of what their sex acts entail. The results were equal parts horrifying and hilarious. JMO
I DVR the show too. The shouting by some of the couples is unbearable.

I don't really have a problem with the mbc with Seancat . I knew they are always never stop working their relationship to get better every day like everyone else .They are very vocal about that ever since .they don't live in fantasy world where they met . I watched few of the mbc episodes and I can say that every rel is not perfect like everyone else. I think they have learned a lot from this . And those other fellow castmates they need more growing up and learning to do . The hip hop couple is driving me nuts goes with boo boo couple too .... I can't stop laughing .

"challenges are what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.real love is when you are completely committed to someone even when they are being completely unlovable.a strong marriage requires two people who chose to love each other even on those days when they struggle to like each other.a great marriage doesn't happen when the perfect couple gets together. It happens when an imperfect couple gets together and learn to enjoy each other's differences."

Me too KB Mom. Thanks for the recaps everyone. Even though I don't watch this, not even sure if I get it in my area, the recaps fill me in.
