I heard: Elizabeth is a Christian but she does this dirty show for the money, so if she's reconciled the paycheque vs the possible people they could be reaching, well gosh darn it, so could he!

I don't know if I should , , , or , this blog. Over Sean and his vision of who he is. I wish they had left, but then they wouldn't get that paycheck that he loves so much and the tv time Cat loves.
**edited**, but the more they expose themselves the less I personally find to like about these two people. I used to like them more than Jason and Molly, but I have to say at least Jason and Molly are honest about who they are. JMO as always.
Smug and pompous come to mind. Are we going to get an explanation after every episode of why they did it?

bleuberry wrote:AAL interesting you mentioned the word manipulative. When I read the MBC blog, I felt like he was using certain words and phrases to manipulate a portion of his fan base and maybe minimize the blowback- 'we will feel blessed by this money' (does he really talk like that?!), 'we can still shine light in a dark world,' 'we felt at peace about it' etc. Kinda like he wants/deserves a pass for being a 'man of God.' I was waiting for him to name drop his pastor and say they took his counsel before deciding.
I've always found Sean to be manipulative. Honestly he just creeps me out. He creeped me out when he was a contestant on the Bette season and I never cared for him. While I could feel sorry for him since I think he is basically a robot to his upbringing, the bottom line is he is an adult and so I don't give him leeway. It's why I always trust my instinct (even if it is a snap judgement so to speak for silly reality tv) since it's never failed me even if it is subjective (and the only time I can say I regret my opinion is when I don't stick with my first instinct). I remember watching Sean as a contestant and then when he was going to be lead and thinking that I could never be married to a guy like Sean... from day one there was just something about Sean that was off, imo, and with time, my opinion of him has not changed. He seems to reinforce it, if anything. I just get this sense that he has control issues that are shrouded in whatever "list of rules" of self-righteousness that his life is made up of. And while he had the whole born again virgin thing down, when it comes to the other 'rules', he seems to not care too much about the fact that the "love of money is the root of all evil." I am not saying he is a terrible guy or anything (although it sure sounds like I am, haha) but just that, I wouldn't want to be stuck with him. Issues/red-flags written all over him, imo.

Re the comment in his blog that it wasn't as "easy" as just deciding he didn't want to stay- yeah Sean, it's called breach of contract.

Also when he says he felt out of place among the other 'seasoned' reality TV contestants. Uhh Sean, you've probably appeared on more shows than them, and out earned them all on TV except Mama June . But okay...

I couldn't agree more! Never wanted him to be the Bachelor, but I was happy that he found his wife, since it's a rare occurence in this franchise. Now the more I'm exposed to him again, the more I'm reminded of why I never liked him. Good luck to Cat! I shudder to think what her life will be like after she pops out some kids.

Does Sean think he is a prophet?
Next are we going to see him and his followers all move in to a safe haven under their ruling?
UGHHH... He just needs to keep his mouth shut. They did the show.. big whoop... cashed in a pretty big paycheck...
If he didn't open his mouth I would have no problem with them doing the show. Just Zip it, let the show air, take the backlash and move on.
No need to test your followers intelligence.

instinct wrote:I just caught the show on DVR. At the end when they're debating about whether to stay or go (when Cat clearly wants to stay) she said something like "You're the husband, you're the leader, I will follow you".
That right there is what creeps me out about Sean and what I sensed about him day one.
The whole subservient thing where the wife is less than and has to please the husband or manipulate/sulk at him into doing things her way by making him feel like he is the boss/head of the house since he is the "final say" on all things. And if that doesn't work, I sense Sean not wanting to appear like he is not in control and not wanting to be seen as a failure/in charge so he will make sure his image is seen as close to perfect with him in charge... and subtly or not so subtly saying his wife is in charge when he wants to complain about something or "regret" something so the wife, who is the weaker and lesser vessel, can get the blame (even if he pretends the onus is on him it's only because he is the head/man, etc etc).
Honestly, I could never be in that type of unbalanced/manipulative dynamic - it would be suffocating/stifling. It's the very opposite of a true partnership. And a true partnership is what I measure a good and healthy relationship by. It's no wonder I prefer Des and Chris... they seem to be more real and have a true ebb and flow and healthy partner dynamic in their relationship.

I agree. I did respect the honesty of admitting he did the show for money, even if I personally find the idea of doing something you are hesitant about solely because of money distasteful. But now, IMO, with the ongoing attempted damage control, he's just digging a bigger hole for himself. You did the show, there will be backlash, put your big boy pants on and ride it out, and it will pass.
