I'd be ok with anyone tossing the ring at that point esp. if it was the second time being rejected on national tv

Shawn got a break for his rant about Jared getting the group date rose and saying he was going to leave and banging dudes and what not so I would think Nick wanting nothing to do with a ring that Kaitlyn should never have let him pick out and wanting to throw that sucker as far away as possible is far more understanding than a GDR, IMHO.

Bottom line: "TPTB made Nick do it" seems like a good enough reason as any. :Nod:

Extra bottom line: on the LIVE show ATFR, Nick was the class act, imo and for someone who was likely having to sit there and do what he does best (bring the ratings) he was a pure gentleman and even said things like, "in Shawn's defense"... and "Wish you all the best". So yup,  when it comes to LIVE and unedited, I will go with Nick any day. He wasn't a sore loser on AFTR and IMHO, that says more about him since Shawn certainly could have been a more gracious winner.

You know when you watch the romantic movie ... where one person tosses the ring in the ocean after the marriage ends ... or burns the pictures after the break-up ... or shreds to pieces a stuffed animal that their loved-one once won for them at the carnival ... we usually don't judge those actions to be a childish temper-tantrums ... but view them as a symbolic closure.

Obviously this wasn't a romantic movie.

I'm gonna cut him some slack....If I had been in Nick's shoes I can tell you I wouldn't have handled it nearly as well. There are so many things he could have done and said but didn't. I think he handled it really well in his conversation with K.  By the time he got to the car I think the reality of what she did sank in ....I'd be furious too.

Maybe it's just 're-take of a shot, maybe it's producer manipulation, maybe it's alcohol. 
 I would give Nick all passed he needed just like what Shawn had gotten all season long.

And yet, Nick was the one Kaitlyn said herself that "we had conversations" about letting Nick go as soon as she knew and she said on ATFR she knew before FRC and before he got out the limo.

So if TPTB made Kaitlyn do it, then TPTB made Nick do it. Seems fair.

Nick handled things fairly well I guess. And Kaitlyn shouldn't have had him at F2. It just felt so wrong if she truly cared about him at all. Left a bad taste, especially with everything that happened and how excited she was to have him join the show for her.

But the affection and empathy I had for him last year is gone. He tried the same make you feel guilty shtick on K with his "You took things from me. I can never get that moment back". Huh? What moment? He didn't propose. He expressed his feelings and will again in RL to someone who loves him as much. As much as I wish Kaitlyn didn't lead him on to F2, he could have walked up there and said you know how I feel, I want to know how you feel before I continue. He could have not been 99% sure of anything after already going through this before. And he could have taken a clue that the girl who jumped him in Dublin seemed to be putting the brakes on his physical advances during their LCD a couple weeks later, realizing things weren't ramping up but cooling down for her. He could have remembered TPTB will deceive you and play with your mind to get a show.

Overall watching it I felt, for someone who is constantly referred to as an intellectual, cerebral, analytical guy, where was his mind in all this. He came across as a bit silly and naive. I feel bad for him. I think as much as he wanted Kaitlyn, he wanted to be in "The Happy Couple" to take away the hurt and ego blow of last year and felt it was a done deal this time after Dublin.

I hope he finds someone who genuinely cares about him IRL. I hope he finds great happiness and builds a great family lke the one he comes from. But I do not need to ever see him again on a season of my show.

Correlating to the post above: It's not like there was a producer in a car with Nick, telling him to toss the ring (NL one) to them?   And then Nick got rid of his own too (since that was on him) by seriously throwing it away. A slight chance Nick wasn't alone in his "dramatic" ride home?

eta: I agree with you, relaxing, too - minus the empathy and affection (it's still there)
But I also believe that Nick was Kaitlyn's "Bachelorette party guy" ... the one before the big commitment ... so I get his standpoint, but I agree, it would be better without that particular discussion, since she wasn't there ready to "listen the lesson" about how to behave with other people's emotions.

Is there a manual for how to react perfectly when you are dumped? The man was hurt so his emotions were raw and real. He's a flawed human being like all if us. I would have been angry too and probably toss the mic as well because I am such a petty person!

I actually enjoyed this episode after all the goofy drama of the series. In my opinion, she had feelings for both guys. I don't think anyone forced her to carry Nick to the end, but in that end, her feelings for Shawn were stronger. And I do think that both guys cared for Kaitlyn.

I was kind of feeling sorry for Nick until he had his little tantrum and threw the rings and then played the martyr at the ATFR. I have never understood why he thinks he should get special treatment on this show in either of his two seasons. I had read that she let him propose and that might have been going too far, but she didn't and it was no worse than what the majority of leads have done in the past. Get over yourself Nick.

Both guys did fine with each other and it just was ridiculous that the show spent so much time trying to force a confrontation. These guys may never have been friends, but I do believe the show force fed much of the animosity for drama. Wish they would stop that kind of crap, but as long as the drama causes tabloid headlines and raises ratings, I suppose it will only get worse from here, although it is hard to imagine how.

His interaction with K was really interesting at ATFR esp. as he was so supportive on social media of her until then. I was really expecting a less questioning Nick and more I support you etc etc to keep in line with his post show behaviour.

There is more to the story than we have seen on tv i think. Whether that be he is making a play for the bach, or K & N had post show interaction or they heard something about each other along the grapevine..

Yep, so Nick has a moment, and it's called a temper tantrum. Good luck to K, cuz if she sticks with Shawn, she's gonna have a lifetime of them! :P
