Married At First Sight - Season 2 - Sean Varricchio - Davina Kullar - *Sleuthing - Spoilers* #2

Imagine watching this show objectively (ignoring all the coworkers and Davina's friend insider info), everyone can see that Davina was the major obstacle in her marriage. I wonder if the experts counseled them before the wedding. The experts need to ensure the couples have realistic expectations. On tuesday, Davina said this is no longer a fairy tale, it's work work work. That should have been the expectation.

A lot of her friends are supporting her. I wonder if any of them actually told her the truth that She should have compromised more. Ease him into the process. Maybe stay with him while in NJ. A young relationship would never work with a split living arrangement.

I think there is is so much more we are not seeing. They can edit it and show any story they want. I know Sean and his anxiety are an issues but I don't think it would have been better with her moving to NJ.  They would have found other things to fight about. Jackson is not a happening place so and her commute to the city would be around 2 hours with traffic. That could cause fights between them and open up another can of worms. At the end of the day I think this is just a bad match and not much will save it. Beyond their childhoods what did they have in common as adults that made the expert match them? I've been trying to figure it out from the beginning.

^^ I could always counter you argument for Davina.
1. Sean said he wasn't going to kiss her and She said she wasn't going to kiss him but they were both attracted to each other so they kissed.
2. He blew up when she lost her ring and She sympathized because She lost the ring.
3. When she was having a moment in the carriage, she should have told him. He was even trying to joke with her to make her feel better (do u want to blow ur nose on my glove). Moreover she was rude to him, when talking to him abt her moment (I know boys can be stupid).
4. Yes She did say that in 2yrs, she would be willing to move to NJ to start a family. I don't think she was the one compromising in regards to the split living arrangement. Sean is the one driving to and from NJ. She isn't staying at his place when he is working in NJ.
5. Refer to 4.

I would stop at 5. As I said they both have issues and in all the interview clips I ve seen Sean is taking responsibility for most things that went wrong. IMO, they are both wrong and I believe Davina could have made things better.

Remember what Dr Logan said this type of marriage wouldn't work if the couples don't stay together. IMO when people live together they get to know eachh other better. Also it would make ssean feel like Davina is compromising on something or giving something. Please read Dr C's evaluation on D&S in the babycenterblog. I don't think they were matched just because they were bullied.

BTW why do you think experts are not defending her on SM, the way they defended Jac/Jaime.

There are counter arguments to everything- it all depends on our individual POVs and experiences. I don't follow any of them from this season on SM. Only Cortney from last season in Instagram. SM is easily manipulated to show the story that peope want you to see so Davina could be doing that and that's why Dr C is not defending her. IDK, only guessing. In Dr Cs post on the babycenterblog he mentions that Sean struggled early and Davina noticed. She probably shut down after that. Can I blame her? No, because I probably would have done the same thing. Was it a bad idea to shut down given that she was doing an experiment where compromise and trying new things are important given the timeline? Yes, especially since he did reach out for advice and was making the effort, but I won't agree that she should have moved to NJ since moving was a deal breaker from the beginning. I'm from the city and I get why she put that as one. Do I agree with her? Not at all because it's eliminating a lot of people that could be a match, but that's on her. At the end of the day there's so many things that each  of them could have done differently, but much like Vaughn and Monet they now each have a better idea of what things are truly deal breakers in their own lives. I wouldn't say one is more to blame for this not working than the other.

I'm wondering if this is Davina's usual problem when in a relationship because of something her friend said in an early episode. Can't remember exactly but sounds like maybe she looks for problems or outs and then shuts down. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with her saying Manhattan is a deal breaker but then she was all about what she wants/needs to Sean without seeming to take into account his sacrifice. Timing and empathy is everything. If she won't consider moving then surely there's something else she can do to help out.

That's not to say Sean has done everything right. Far from it but right now on the show he has a lot of stress from the commute/move. If it were a longer term relationship there'd already be a level of trust. Not looking good for them at this point.

^ I agree with most of what you said. I am not talking about her moving totally.. just until her apartment is ready, she should stay with him when he is in Jersey working. For an experiment like this, one can't be rigid. Everything can't be white/black, there should be a gray lining in between. Watching her interview, she wasn't bending at all and IMO, that's where the harsh criticism is steaming from.

Although I've never read this directly, I've always been under the impression from reading last season that those that the  cast for this show came from a larger pool of various reality TV show applicants and not necessarily those interested in being a part for this particular show.

With that said, I'm would not at all surprised that Sean, or most if not ALL the other participants, would be interested in being cast for other reality shows because, IMO, it takes a certain type of person to be into it, in addition to being attractive enough, animated enough, etc...

Looking back at Sean telling his parents, I almost feel like if he had told them that he was going to be on The Amazing Race, Survivor or Naked and Whatever, they would not have been surprised.  But, when he said the M word they were like, oh Sean. What are you thinking?  This guy is either not ready for marriage or not husband material, I'm not sure.

Davina is complex,  it will take a very strong, confident man for her. She will challenge him and confuse him, but I think she will be a good wife for the right man, just not Sean.  

There is so much we don't know but I really enjoy discussing it with you here. It's kinda like the local coffee shop!

Reading Sean's article about what he wants and doesn't want from his expected spouse, we can conclude that his relationship to Davina........

Just caught up the last few episodes, I know there were a lot of heated discussion of both Sean & Davina, but I saw the episodes with no stance whatsoever.

I am leaning slight more towards to support Davina. I think she made it clear that she wont leave Manhattan, and needs the affection from his spouse, but I too don't see any "sparkle" in Sean's eyes.

It seems like he is more of trying to "win" the experiment, and Davina is just a tool he needed to be qualified to participate. Maybe I should say, watching this pair is just like watching the blind date couples of the current season of the Amazaing Race.

Sean has his eyes on the prize, which is to become married and be known for his adventurous mind. But Davina has her eyes on the marriage, on the person. Sean tries to do all the right things in front of the camera, instead of getting to know Davina as a person, to talk to her like normal couples, which are the most important I think.

And he didn't stay the first night in their appartment is very disrespectful, IMO. If he was uncomfortable about the whole process, so as Davina and all of them. Instead of running away, he should have told her directly how he felt and why he wanted to get back home.

Looks to me he is not very mature in handling issues, he shuts down when he senses there is chance he would get hurt/get less than what he wants.
