Hurting Ben and making their lead look like a heartless b*tch is going to make their ratings increase?? (We're most of us high on the cupcake-flavored koolaid, but... some of the viewing audience still isn't )

Fleiss needed his OMG moment and he wasn't getting it from JP proposing and Ashley accepting, cause most people by Finale time have seen the greatest love story ever told on their screen and totally know JP is F1. Even all my unspoiled friends, said "no contest, whatsoever, totally obvious". So, they used Ben and used Ashley for Fleiss to get his "OMG" moment from his viewing audience. I prefer to put the blame where it belongs, squarely on TPTB shoulders, who are experts at manipulation. Because a good old fashioned love story with a happy ending is way to bland for Fleiss, even though we fans love that. He needs his drama and will use whoever he can to get it.

Nope. But I think honestly, no matter what you do, there will always be naysayers. Ash could let Ben go early like Ali did with Chris and move on to JP and I bet there will be some hater out there that will crucify her for it. She's just gotta be strong, don't let it get to her and just realize that she's the luckiest woman in the world.

I think the obvious F1 will lessen the criticism for Ashley. Deanna had a surprising F1 and a single dad who was loved as a F2. Ben is well-liked as well but JP is fan favorite and most think she'd be insane not to pick him.

I have never, not once, ever picked the F1 on this show so I’m used to suffering through posts speculating that the relationship with the F2 was one-sided. This year I finally got to see the love story with the F1, but I feel for Ben fans. We have the benefit of watching her time with both JP and Ben and realizing the difference in the relationships, Ben didn’t have that clarity. I don’t blame him at all for thinking he was the one.

Since I’m already on this subject, I’ll also say that I think Ashely is partly to blame for him being blindsided. She lets the guys set the tone - JP is obviously an open communicator, whereas Ben is more of a go with the flow ‘you’ll figure it out’ kind of guy - and she responds to each in kind. On her FD with JP she brings up potential concerns and they talk about them together...competition, the other guys, holding back. On her FD with Ben she doesn’t really ask questions or deal with any obstacles, she just goes with the flow. I think that’s part of the reason Ben is blindsided - she never addressed any concerns (particularly with the process) so he didn't think they existed. Ben says something like they can gauge what each other is thinking...so they are assuming what the other one is thinking instead of talking about it like she does with JP. It’s just totally different. All of this is to say that Ashley could have taken more control over their relationship and handled it better. Instead of just going with the flow she could have helped to navigate their communication a little so that he wouldn’t be blindsided. JP was prepared for heartbreak because they talked about it, but that wasn’t the case with Ben. I'm not saying it's all her fault, but she certainly has a part in it.

First of all I'm sure most viewers think Ashley will pick JP but insane not to pick him? I don't get that vibe from my coworkers who watch. The unspoiled ones aren't even sure she's picking JP although think she will. I do think Ashley will take some flack among average viewers and the media because of the nature of Ben opening up and telling her he loves her plus getting down on one knee and proposing only to be crushed. Online I don't think she will be criticized as much because there seems to be a majority who have bought into the whole cupcake thing.

This is what puzzles me as well. It appears to JP fans that MF gave you a love story this season. To me then, why taint it by having Ashley take the heat for letting Ben propose. We here analyze things to the nth degree and I for one don't blame Ashley. I will wait to see how it all plays out tomorrow but it is a surprise. I blame TPTB who seem to value the shock value above all else. Sadly, I think Ash will take heat. Was it that Ali was such a favorite of MF that he let her off easier? What then does that say about how he feels about Ashley. I truly hope he has learned from the Bentley backlash but I doubt it. JMHO
