Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion

Speculating, because we sleuth and speculate based on previous information and/or facts, we know they had unauthorized visits, that is a fact. IMO that must have been because they wanted more than the authorized visits. The authorized ones took place in safehouses, they weren't enough so they took it upon themselves to have the unauthorized ones in the middle of nowhere in Arlington, where a neighbour saw a blonde. TY btw to the source that provided that info.

Why would they have unauthorized visits and no safehouse visits? TPTB IMO wouldn't prohibit them from having s/h visits.

GA, Do you remember when that info about the blonde came out? I firmly believe that Whitney spent some time on the farm in addition to SHV but It's possible that the blonde was Twirling Witney.

There's confusion and conflicting emotions every season some more than others but it's there - maybe they feel more for one individual above the other but to say its just one person and everyone else is "scripted" is flawed, IMO.

I'm not naive to believe that there aren't storyboards but it's just not realistic to think every lead knows their F1 beyond a shadow of a doubt and there's no conflict. There are feelings involved with both of their finalists, IMO. How could there not be you've met this person's family, you've shared some level of intimacy with them. As many of you have pointed out these aren't actors...the feelings exist on some level. This season I think there was deep conflict within Chris over both women but he made the choice he needed to make.

As with all the aforementioned couples, they live and die on what comes after.
It's possible Whitney and Chris could get married. It's also possible they crash and burn like most couples in the franchise. For now either side can save the "I told you so's" and victory laps- only time will tell.

Ali said in an interview post show that she knew she would pick Roberto the night that they participated in the Broadway Show. IIRC, that was week 3 or 4.

This is kind of off-topic, but Ali has said post-breakup that she told Roberto it was going to be him on their very first one-on-one, but as the show progressed, she did develop really strong feelings for Frank. At the time of the Roberto's FSD, she said she was pretty sure it was going to be him but wasn't 100% sure and therefore didn't tell him she loved him. She had planned on sleeping with Frank and using their off-camera conversation/physical relationship to make her final decision, but, of course she couldn't since he left. Roberto even said at Emily/Brad ATFR that he was shocked to see Ali's reaction when Frank left, because Ali had told him that it was no big deal. My point is that I think ALL leads kind of change their tune to protect their F1's feelings. The truth is if you are really madly in love with one person, it would never even cross your mind to get physical with anyone else. But, save for about 5 leads, all of them have. I think that for most, there is conflict. It's usually not at the very end, like the show depicts, but it's usually there (except for maybe Brad). We only sometimes get the truth if the lead and the F1 break up.

I do think that Whitney was who Chris "needed" and he recognized that very early on. I also think that he was more smitten/ had a more physical attraction to Jade, Britt, and Becca and was distracted by them throughout the process. At the end of the day, I don't know if it really matters. Most of the couples that have broken up haven't done so because of lingering feelings for another contestant. Even in cases like Deanna/Jesse (where she really liked Graham) or Jason/Melissa (where he really like Molly), the relationships ended because they were unsuited for each other, not because of the other contestant.

This is what I said earlier. And--if they had chosen to not have safe house visits, I don't for a minute believe CH would not have brought this up at the ATFR.

I've seen several folks make hay over Chris picking out a Neil Lang ring "just for Whitney" because Neil said it was for her. I just don't think its as significant as some might think:

1. Becca made it clear that she would not accept a ring so by default it could have only been for Whitney anyway

2. The ring is more about spectacle and the value exchange of marketing...Juan picked out a ring as did Brad 1.0. Neil Lane's contract stipulates that I am sure  - as did Chopard and Tacori before that.  It's a foregone conclusion that Neil will hand over one of his rings to the Bachelor - almost as it is that very same ring will be returned to him months later.

I think this is a very astute observation and part of what is "artificial" about being in the bubble. All of us have tried at one time or another to do the math about how long a couple gets during filming and no matter who does the math, it always seems to come up with a very small number. Even smaller yet is the amount of time a couple gets during filming to be truly alone and free to talk about whatever it is they want to talk about; that only happens in the fantasy suite and probably isn't more than about 8 hours. Is it really possible to fall in love in that amount of time? IMO it isn't; it's enough to fall in lust, it's enough to find out you are physically attracted to someone and perhaps also to find out that you're attracted to their personality but that's about it.

It's not enough to find out if you really share life goals or that you either can or can't find enough common ground to know if you can actually make a life together work. And as you point out - that's usually where most couples run into problems - they discover they are so very different in what kind of life they want that there's no common ground. What happened or what didn't happen on the show isn't the issue - it's what they can or can't make happen in real life that makes or breaks a couple.

You can bet CH would have brought it up! Poor guy really had to earn his paycheck on this ATFR show after several easy ones in a row. JPG served up the drama on a platter for CH with his refusal to say ILY to Nikki. Nick brought the ultimate drama by outing MeandI doing the deed with him before picking Josh. I don't feel badly for CH though - I'm sure he's well paid.

This time all we had was a rejected F2 that really didn't care and a mature, happily engaged couple ready to move on. 

As has been said before and they said themselves, Chris and Whitney spent time together, safe house or not. No one forced them to see each other, especially via secret rendezvous, and so that indicates that they wanted to see each other which, IMO, indicates that secret meetups > planned TPTB meetups (which is in their favor and is a positive sign post-show, imo).

ETA: Who knows, even if they chose not to meet up with planned safehouse meetings that they didn't instead plan to meet up at those exact times on their own elsewhere? Maybe they wanted to do their own thing without the lockdown/tptb involved? If so, good on them! Bottom line is they spent time with each other post-show and are still engaged.

That's the thing, I don't expect there to be any physical evidence or possibility to track them down, since we all know these two are not into SM. It's the fact that they haven't so much as referenced them in any interviews. All the successful couples have talked about the safe house visits when asked if they've spent much time together after filming. These two just said they've spent some time together, not much, and that she drove to the farm a couple of times. That combined with their awkwardly unaffectionate behaviour immediately made me think that maybe they just haven't spent as much time in each other's company post show as some of the other couples. And if they haven't then that begs the question, why?

IA. Clearly Chris has a thing for Dark haired, dark eyed, petite women. Those were the girls who got the biggest reactions out of him right out of the limo. He was using words like stunning, beautiful and gorgeous with them. I think Whitney did get a Wow out of him when she was walking into the mansion. Thank goodness for him that he was able to look beyond his "type" and see Whitney for who she was. She impressed him and she continued to impress him. All the while his "type" were imploding left and right.

In all due respect, Neil was there after all and here's what he had to say:

“This ring really fits her,” he says. “She has a strong personality, but there’s a huge feminine part to her, and there’s a sophistication to her too. She likes detail – you can see it in her dress and you can see it in her style.”

And while Soules did seem a bit nervous while picking out the ring, Lane says it was more the anticipation at the thought of marrying the 29-year-old fertility nurse rather than any doubts about his choice.

“He was super excited,” Lane says. “He talked about her in such a glowing way. He just could see being with her. The guy was totally in love. He was effervescent about it.”

Could be that she still had her job to tie loose ends up with and Chris was busy doing interviews in LA and getting ready to go back to back with shows DWTS. She also said that she spent time with him and his family in Iowa which imo is a good thing to bring her closer to them . These two do not seem to be the type to go over the top with PDA . Whitney is smart . I see them giving the fans very little in that dept and keeping their affection more private. My prediction post DWTS we will see them in front when it has to do with the agriculture and fertility awareness that they want to speak and educate on but not so much their private life. jmo
