For those who feel she shouldn't do this, would you really turn down GMA when they called? I certainly don't see a down side.
As someone who knows - GMA does need to ask people to be on GMA.
Agents and PR people pitch to be on the show.
Whatever. They tend to support ABC shows so it could be that. The point is, why would anyone turn it down? It's not like it's TMZ.

They dont need to promote the show that's over. The commerical said shell tell a secret that even her fiancé doesn't know. That's the hook for GMA. Otherwise who cares. They have a plethora of fertility doctors and experts they can call.

Hardly call that self promoting. If she announces she froze her eggs it's to bring awareness and promote the clinic and like she said "I walk the talk". I admire her for doing her own thing and staying true to her own passions while Chris is going after his.
I guess this is kind of unprecedented, Whitney using her platform not to promote shoes, bags, or diet pills, but something of substance that she is equally educated and passionate about.
Now I'm not knocking others because they all do it to some extent, but it's nice to see something other than the usual stuff talked about.
I guess I find people using their 5-minutes to promote and further the career that they already have worked hard to build a no-brainer. Who wouldn't. Even supplementing your regular income with extra Bachelorette stuff, like Ash and JP did seems like something anyone would do. It's when people want to live off club appearances, shilling stuff online and basically make a living off being an ex Bachelor/Bachelorette with no other job that I get a bit turned off.

I'm also able to make the distinction between the two, relaxing. I'm also able to discern that GMA chooses how to promote their show, not the person appearing on the show.relaxing wrote:bleuberry wrote:dpao84 wrote: She's promoting something she feels strongly about, women's fertility, not pushing fashion products etc. She promoted a foundation that is helping women freeze their eggs that can't afford it in the last interview... Some may not know that freezing your eggs was originally a way for women undergoing treatment for cancer to have children - if they survived their cancer treatment of course.
I don't understand why anyone would bash Whitney for educating women stuggling with infertility and/or cancer about their options. I don't understand why anyone would attempt to equate this with selling scarves or diet pills either, but hey - that's just me.

And if they have certainly not 2 weeks after the shows over. And of course she is promoting herself --- as an ambassador for fertility and her company. GMA did not announce that is spokesperson for fertility would be on the show, they said Whitney Bischoff.
Personally, I'm not going to freeze my eggs because the winner of Bachelor 9 says I should but hey that's me. I'm sure many others will find value in what she has to say but to say is not self promotion is inaccurate, IMO
Chris and Payton come to mind .. Neither a lead .. And fairly frequently as well

Whitneys guest spot on GMA may have absolutely nothing to do with her profession..........

^ couldn't agree more. It's like Chris promoting agriculture., they're both staying true to their passions and why I think they are so well suited. They already know who they are as individuals. Loved andi and josh but I realize now that's what they lacked, they're still trying to find themselves in a way.

You're right and I wouldn't mind seeing more of the other side Whitney. We know she's a well-educated, successful professional woman - let's see more of her fun, girly side!Jeepers wrote: Whitneys guest spot on GMA may have absolutely nothing to do with her profession..........

It would be bizarre for Whitney to turn down this opportunity, if that's what she's going on GMA to talk about. Her employer would have every right to be furious with her, IMO, if the idea was pitched to her and she said no way. Isn't promoting fertility options and the clinic part of her job now? As for the secret angle, maybe Chris didn't know while they were filming but I'm sure she told him about it after. I'm not going to read much into how they worded the teaser, those things are designed to get people to tune in.
I suspect the clinic offers the egg freezing service to their employees either free or at a serious discount because it's best if their female employees can assure their patients, "I did it too, and here's what I experienced..." She said she did it three or four years ago, so she has them locked in at a great age. (silly face) As her partner on the Chicago talk show said, this is a great idea for young women who aren't concerned so much about conceiving their first baby but might want to use their 26 yr old eggs for a pregnancy when they're 36. That's something I never considered so promoting this idea on a national stage is a huge win for the clinic, and Whitney too -- though it's too late for me personally, ha.

We don't know what the interview is about at this time, until GMA airs, we are simply throwing out speculation. Reminds me of a food fight.
As far as IVF and that whole ball of wax, you will never find a greater fan than moi.
I owe my 1 yr old grandson that I love dearly to this process.
IVF is very expensive. If you are lucky enough to have insurance coverage it is generally limited.
It can be painful both physically and emotionally. My daughter gained 15 lbs in the process even before implantation. It is a hormonal roller coaster. Think of PMS times 1000.
Implantation does not always take the first time and when it does, you might be carrying multiple babies. That puts you into a high risk category.
Then there is future embryo storage and fees-- 10K a year.
So freezing eggs is the very tip of the iceberg.
Most people know nothing about this stuff unless educated and that is generally because they are facing these issues.
If someone is coming on a morning show to educate viewers to provide resources, support and information, personally I think it's a great service.
My 2 cents toward the food fight.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these speaking engagements are a part of her new job description. They didn't create it for her out of good will alone. They saw an opportunity to promote the clinic and what they do using her fame. I see nothing wrong with that, it's a worthwhile topic.
I do wonder what she'll be doing once her 15 minutes pass though. Will she still be able to work mostly from home? I can't imagine it's a full time job to promote a fertility clinic. If she's an egg freezing coordinator then she'll be informing patients, or should I say clients, of everything that's involved in their treatment. It doesn't really make sense to me to do that from home. So are her current duties temporary while she's in LA?
I can't wait to see what happens with this relationship once DWTS is over. This current situation is so mutually beneficial that I can't help but wonder.

Mindless, from what I understand she's going to be a fertility coach, helping patients through the process. This can be done in person, phone, Skype video chat, email, texts. I think meeting clients in person can be done once a week or twice a month (whatever), so traveling to Chicago every so often to spend a day meeting with patients is certainly possible.
Personally, if I were going through this process and I could video chat with my fertility coach via Skype on my iPad I'd much rather do that than drive to the clinic and sit in a waiting room, etc. It'd be much more convenient to do my own thing at home or work while waiting for her to call at the appointed time, do the video chat, then go right back to doing my own thing. Huge time savings.
