I don't think Chris was conflicted at all, I think he feel for Whitney as early on as the Wedding crashing date and it grew from there. Everyone else was part of the storyboard that TPTB wanted to present. Chris even said while proposing that on that first date with Whitney he said to himself " this girl is perfect for me". The lead says and does a lot of positive things/words to both the F2 (that's his job, sometime to the F3 person too), happens every time .

I happen to agree strongly with what is bolded. CH has stated he knew it was Whitney from Bali on but IMO it was Whitney before Bali. I remember watching HTD with all of the final four, and the only family that we saw Chris ask for their blessing was Whitney's. The US Weekly magazine article made mention of that and also wrote that Whitney's family was the only one actually asked - which matches exactly what we saw on the final edit. IMHO had Chris asked any other family it would have been shown - but it was not. While this was or could have been a big clue before the FRC, it's still a big clue now that we know that Chris actually picked Whitney. IMO the reason Whitney's family was the only one asked was because Chris knew then if not actually before then who his F1 was going to be.

The show did their best to create the possibility that it could have been someone else and they really did a very good job at that - but then again that's their job and they're pretty darn good at it. They showed only what they wanted us to see to create the traditional story-line we see season after season - and hide the fact that Chris proposed to the only girl he asked for family blessings from.

Actually CH said in his blog (or was it CS's blog?) that Chris did ask all the families for permission. The rest just had dads, Kaitlyn even had two, and they were all fine with it, so no drama there to show. I think they showed him asking Whitney's sister because 1) she didn't have a father, so he had to ask who to ask, 2) the sister didn't give her blessing, which TPTB love, and the talk of it continued in Bali as well.

What I find interesting is that Chris never made that call to her sister before the proposal. When he was asked about the sister being on board now in some interview, he stammered something about her saying it's fine once Whitney is the only one and she was the only one at that point (when he proposed), so he kinda had her blessing or something. Sounded like he definitely didn't contact her again before the proposal. Had he been certain it was Whitney all along, I think he would have picked up the phone just to make Whitney happy. JMO.

But for me  this season is best summed up by Chris' BIL when he says to the family "all the reasons to go "X" are analytical ones but the reason to go "Y" is love and chemistry" about Chris' decision.

I agree it came down to heart vs. head at the end. Chris chose his head and while he did care for Whitney it was not the strongest connection he had, IMO. That doesn't mean that wasn't the right choice or logical one as you point out. It was his to make and he did. Good luck to them.

Agreed.  I always try to put myself in the position of the lead and I never can.  It's hard to compare their feelings about each relationship to real life dating because most of us aren't building and sustaining romantic links with 3, 4 or even more people at one time.  If you're out and meet a group of guys it's likely the one you're most attracted to, connect with and want to spend more time with will be obvious.  When you're going on dates, kissing, expressing feelings with several women who you like at the same time I would guess it's not always consciously obvious.  It must be a major mind screw.

I find I relate to Chris at the end because that's how I think I would be - struggling to weigh the analytical thoughts, with the feelings of the heart, with the just lust connections, with the fear of who might not really feel as strongly about you as you do about them.  Def not easy in the end, and from what I saw I found Chris genuinely conflicted and trying to make the best decision he could.

Sometimes I agree it's editing at the end and you can see the lead going through the motions with the non F1s and the editing working overtime to make them believable final choices (no way I believed anyone had a chance with Ash but JP, and by MTP and LCDs most leads are pretty easy to read as they pull back from F2 and beam around F1). But sometimes I think the show shows what happened - a person who was planning to go one way, but circumstances with that person lead them to go another - what I saw this season, Des' season and I'm sure some others. Doesn't mean the couple isn't well suited or able to last. But doesn't mean the F1 was always "it" for the lead either.

When Andi asked him about job opportunities in the area, he said there's an opportunity to be a homemaker. I guess he was partly joking, but considering there really aren't many jobs within a reasonable commute, there's certainly some truth to it. I don't think he wants one, which might be why he was still single at 33. He's clearly attracted to women with ambition, I mean his ex started her own company too. It's just hard for a woman with a good career to move to the farm. That's just an unfortunate fact, so if he wants to live there most of the time and raise a family there, then his wife is gonna have to make some sacrifices. If that ends up being the deal breaker in all his relationships, then maybe he should look for something else. JMO.

Not that I believe Chris didn't know about it, I'm sure they need to make it sound juicy so we watch.

The egg freezing would be my guess (funny how "big reveals" get promoted but turn out to be something that we already knew about). I can imagine why Whitney might not have told Chris about this during filming but I doubt that he doesn't know now. I think it would be an obvious thing for Whitney to do because of where she works and what she does there as well as her desires to have a family in the future; she would cover that base and it would be not such a big deal for her.

What happened to getting back to normal. The more I hear that the more laughable it becomes. No matter what it is I can't imagine anything she has to say needs that kind of platform. Seems very self-serving, IMO.

Sounds like a woman leveraging her 15 mins and for a post breakup career not someone planning on moving to a farm in Arlington, Iowa to get married and make babies.  If it is that she is freezing them - that's strange given that she and Chris want a family "right away".

Well then it's a good thing she didn't tell TPTB. Can't imagine how they would've exploited that one. Opportunities are endless.

Oh my goodness. I agree. Things are getting weird. IMO So much for "back to normal." Self-promoting is right. Guess time will tell, and maybe sooner than later. ;)
