Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion

CH also said there was no fairytale ending to this season...he lies over and over. I believe the truth is always somewhere in the middle.

But for me  this season is best summed up by Chris' BIL when he says to the family "all the reasons to go "X" are analytical ones but the reason to go "Y" is love and chemistry" about Chris' decision.

I agree it came down to heart vs. head at the end. Chris chose his head and while he did care for Whitney it was not the strongest connection he had, IMO. That doesn't mean that wasn't the right choice or logical one as you point out. It was his to make and he did. Good luck to them.

Have you ever been to a auto dealership an looked at the most expensive car on the lot? Then realization comes on an we understand that we need a van rather than a super luxury auto. I think that was the situation Chris was in when he rejected Becca, because there were too many obstacles. They simply did not fit together. He did not want to chance an engagement and then have it broken down the road. He might end up an old man without the children he wants and maybe alone.

I hope it's ok for me to say that this is a well-reasoned post - IMHO.  I think Sean & Chris went into their seasons hoping to find a wife, being thoughtful and deliberate in their approach. Sean found a good balance in choosing Cat - he had deep feelings for her that developed into love after the show, they shared the same fundamental views on family values, had fluid job situations, etc. Sean didn't have those deep feelings for the more suitable-on-paper Lindsey. 

I don't feel Chris choosing Whitney is without risk. She is a well-educated, financially independent, professional woman that has made a comfortable life for herself in a large city - without the help of parents or a man. Logistically, Chris's future wife will likely become an extension of him and his life in the tiny farming town of Arlington. He stressed that to MeandI and on his show as well. It might be easier to choose a gal that hasn't established herself to the degree Whitney has for an easier transition. I'll believe Chris when he said during his proposal and many times after that he loves Whitney.

There have been several seasons where the F1 was a default pick, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

But, a lot, if not the majority, thought Chris was Des's default choice and they're married.

Chris S was like a kid in a candy store, kissing more women than any other lead, which makes it hard to decipher his sincerity with any of them.   The mural cemented for me that Whitney was his choice and the rest was for show.  Whether they make it down the aisle is anyone's' guess, if they don't, c'est la vie.

Posting this here & the fan page. I was watching GMA this morning and they said "The Bachelor's fiancee, Whitney, reveals one big secret" on GMA next week. She did really well on her interview with the Chicago station so will be interested to see her.

But don't you kinda always wish you had the super luxury auto instead? I know I do-each and every time I see one drive by me. I will admit I wish I was more practical with cars.

I don't think Chris was conflicted at all, I think he feel for Whitney as early on as the Wedding crashing date and it grew from there. Everyone else was part of the storyboard that TPTB wanted to present. Chris even said while proposing that on that first date with Whitney he said to himself " this girl is perfect for me". The lead says and does a lot of positive things/words to both the F2 (that's his job, sometime to the F3 person too), happens every time .

I happen to agree strongly with what is bolded. CH has stated he knew it was Whitney from Bali on but IMO it was Whitney before Bali. I remember watching HTD with all of the final four, and the only family that we saw Chris ask for their blessing was Whitney's. The US Weekly magazine article made mention of that and also wrote that Whitney's family was the only one actually asked - which matches exactly what we saw on the final edit. IMHO had Chris asked any other family it would have been shown - but it was not. While this was or could have been a big clue before the FRC, it's still a big clue now that we know that Chris actually picked Whitney. IMO the reason Whitney's family was the only one asked was because Chris knew then if not actually before then who his F1 was going to be.

The show did their best to create the possibility that it could have been someone else and they really did a very good job at that - but then again that's their job and they're pretty darn good at it. They showed only what they wanted us to see to create the traditional story-line we see season after season - and hide the fact that Chris proposed to the only girl he asked for family blessings from.

Oh I totally agree with the bolded, which is why I didn't find it crazy to think he might choose Becca (had her feelings been there) despite being so impressed with Whitney's drive and determination. I think he would be better off choosing someone with a little less drive and ambition, who would be happy to just blend into his family and business. But after the show, every time he's asked what he loves about Whitney, he brings up her intellect and drive and the fact that "she has her sh*t together", so I guess that is very important to him. Maybe he just can't relate to women who are fine with being homemakers, even though those are the women who would fit his life the best. There weren't many viable options for him on the show though, since most of those girls wouldn't last a day on a farm regardless of their career or lack of.

I have never had a reason to believe that's what he wanted in a woman. What makes you think that he wants and needs a homemaker?

Yeah I saw it. Whitney is coming on herself and suppose to reveal some secret that even Chris doesn't know.  That is a little unprecedented isn't it?! So much for keeping things "normal" huh?
Looks like even Whitney isnt above some good old fashion self-promotion.
