I hope they make it but if they don't, they won't be the first or the last out of this franchise. BTW, I'm glad Chris didn't choose Becca, he was smart to do that. Ask the Canadian Bach how it turned out for him for choosing the one that was still confused and unsure by the last week of filming.
I am glad that Becca made it clear to him that she was not willing to move or say ILY when she only actually spent 4 days with him. A very mature move by a a great girl that made this boring season fun to watch. JMO
Both are good posts! I think in the end, things happened as they should. Each made the best decisions they could for themselves, at the time, (Becca choosing not to say something she really didn't mean, Whitney for laying all her feelings out, and Chris making his decision.) and all seem to be happy with the choices they made. No broken hearted, sad F2, we have one that actually seems happy for and supportive of both her friendship with the F1 and the couple. And we see the couple spending time getting to know each other even more and living together, while Whitney supports Chris' DWTS adventure. Whether they last a lifetime or months, remains to be seen, but it seems as though things worked out for each of them. JMHO...
It is nice that it's worked out well for everyone. Whitney got her guy, Becca seems to be happy, & Kaitlyn's the Bachelorette.

Interesting question. I haven't watched the video. Did you catch something I should watch for?
MiaHawk wrote:Competitive dancing is part sport (technical posturing, timing, and choreography) and part acting (using one's face and body to create a feeling or emotion). If they are to have any shot at winning, Chris is going to have to do both. Witney, the professional dancer, is well aware of this. Chris, who is neither a professional dancer nor an actor, has the 'mental hurdle' of becoming comfortable with the acting part. This is how I interpreted that comment.
Good post, Mia. I'm of the belief that DWTS is scripted by producers much like TB is, like Survivor is, and any of the other "reality" shows that I don't watch. There may not be cue cards, but I do believe they are given talking points when appearing on any of the reality shows. I think the relationships between the dancers and their pros are purposely made to look like more than they are. But I do like to watch these programs with my hat on.
ETA: On the topic of C&W, I am really enjoying that Chris is on DWTS. If they're going to make it, they will make it through this time. I think Chris is a pretty good dancer - probably the best one to come out of this franchise to that one (minus Melissa the Cheerleader). I think Whitney is going to be just fine too in her role as his biggest cheerleader.

Why farm subsidies are hurting small farmers.

The subsidies are intended to help farmers when market prices are low. But instead, Naylor says, they drive farmers to overproduce, which only pushes prices lower, allowing large agribusiness companies to buy cheap feed, raise cheap livestock, and sell cheap meat.
“That just puts farmers in the same situation where they have no way out,” says Naylor, “except to try to produce as much as they possibly can every year, fencerow to fencerow, and hope to God that prices are such that they make ends meet.”

As much as I want to ship him with Witney Carson, my absolute fave DWTS dancer, she is only 21. And he is technically engaged, even if 'they' say he ended up with a default winner.
Nothing against Whitney the fiancee, but she reminds me of my dentist. Technical, Clinical, very cliche, methodical, always says the right things but has no depth to it, cause she's just doing her job. I will trust her with my dental needs but I don't want to see her fall in love or get married on tv. But at least my dentist has a soothing grown woman's voice.
Chris found himself a dependable woman to have kids with. He wants his family's approval and he got it. I just do not see a chemistry or "i come alive when you're near" look in Chris' eyes when she's around. He wanted someone whom he doesn't need to work hard for or chase. Maybe that's what he wanted but that's not why I watch TB. I wanted to watch a man who's absolutely taken, breathtakingly in love and melts around a woman of his choice.
I agree. And as much as I wish happiness for both Chris and Whitney, I just can't see them together forever. Maybe they'll surprise me, but for now they're just meh. JMO.
I can't see dancer Witney as any kind of a threat though. She's adorable, but compared to Chris she looks and sounds like a teenager. When she was helping Chris to compose a tweet they looked like father and daughter. Just a different generation. Then again, Chris did make out with 21-year-old Mackenzie who sounds even more young than Witney.
I just wonder if Chris can fully be himself around Whitney, like he apparently can around Witney or even Becca IMO. He said something about Whitney making him want to be a better man. While that sounds like a good thing, it might be double-edged sword. Depends on his definition of "better".
I actually think Chris is fully himself around Whitney. On the show, I saw a relaxed Chris with Whitney. A guy who was secure and enjoying himself very much, and in some case, I thought he looked a little relieved as the ease of being with Whitney. Does he behave differently around Whitney than he did around Becca? Sure - they are two different women with very different needs, styles of interaction and in different stages of their lives. It would be unnatural to expect anyone to treat them identically.
IA and I think it goes along with what I viewed during the show and what CH said about the difference in Chris after his dates with Whitney and Becca. He would come off his dates with Becca frustrated and come off his dates with Whitney on a high.

As far as Chris being himself around Whitney: The couple are living together and sleeping in the same bed (I presume), and it would be pretty difficult not to be yourself with your living partner. Chris parents have been visiting and are happy and it would be difficult to hide the fact that he is not being himself around anyone. I give credit to Whitney for being a smart lady with the capability of recognizing differences in Chris' behavior. So much focus on seeing the potential cracks in their relationship rather than seeing it as a real relationship with potential. I rather give them a chance with the glass half full rather than half empty. JMO.

In fact, I think it's perfectly acceptable and rather admirable to be optimistic that they will be in the 1% success rate of the Bachelor franchise.
But I have perceived some indifference on the part of Chris towards Whitney during this "honeymoon phase" and she is clearly more into him than he is into her. It's fine now while he still has DWTS but I honestly think it will lead to problems when all the distractions of the glitz and glamour of DWTS and the Bachelor have all gone away and they'll just have to deal with each other. I'm not just saying that because I'm "a Becca fan". It's because I respect and like Whitney and I'm concerned.
I guess I'm just not willing to anoint them as the second coming of Sean and Cat after a whole week of "normal life".
Great post. I agree and think once they do get back to "normal" they will have a better shot and they will figure it out. I am concerned for Whit also and think he wanted Becca (don't think I am alone on that one) but she was not there. IMO ;)
Wish them luck navigating through DWTS. Hopefully they head back to the farm to see see if they work. I am always surprised when a couple from this show makes it. Time will tell, but I don't see it and the odds are not in their favor.
I think the statistics show that the odds are not in favor of any couple no matter how you meet them. I believe that Chris chose the woman who gave him the best odds at building a forever.

^^^ I still disagree but respect your opinion. Chris did not choose right imo and was way to conflicted to propose to someone after maybe spending 2-3 days with them. I know it is the show, but he was too conflicted and should not have proposed. JMHO, but he caved to TPTB pressure.

I disagree with you but also respect your opinion. I don't think Chris was conflicted at all, I think he feel for Whitney as early on as the Wedding crashing date and it grew from there. Everyone else was part of the storyboard that TPTB wanted to present. Chris even said while proposing that on that first date with Whitney he said to himself " this girl is perfect for me". The lead says and does a lot of positive things/words to both the F2 (that's his job, sometime to the F3 person too), happens every time . We the viewers job is to choose which one we think he truly means them for. Becca was beautiful , gorgeous and kind as well but imo Becca was never going to be his F1 and was the designated F2 (TPTB knew darn well that Becca's lack of relationship experience would be the easiest to cast the most doubt . Kind of reminded me of Sadie on prince Lorenzo season. It's either the well adored and likable F2 or the Villian that everyone tends to dislike . jmho Funny how we all watch the same show and yet see something so different from it. It's all fun none the less.

ITA and see it exactly as the above.
The best was seeing the girls all came away no worse for the experience and happy.

I actually thought that on the LCD, Becca gave Chris the clarity that he needed to move forward with Whitney confidently. Becca, rightly, expressed concerns about what would happen if she moved to Arlington and wasn't happy. Whitney was able to get beyond that concern because she was already in love with Chris. There were lots of scenes with Chris and Whitney that weren't shown - their time together on the two group dates in which he gave Whitney the GDR as an example - IMO, those scenes would have shown a relationship that was growing and deepening.
