Chris Soules - Whitney Bischoff - Bachelor 19 - Discussion

Competitive dancing is part sport (technical posturing, timing, and choreography) and part acting (using one's face and body to create a feeling or emotion). If they are to have any shot at winning, Chris is going to have to do both. Witney, the professional dancer, is well aware of this. Chris, who is neither a professional dancer nor an actor, has the 'mental hurdle' of becoming comfortable with the acting part. This is how I interpreted that comment.

Sorry, but Chris is not acting like a man who is in love and wants to show it. I remember Des saying she may not have gotten what she wanted but she got what she needed. Chris's words and actions are not making it seem like he is thrilled to have Whitney. And IMO, she deserves better than a man who including the AFTR, has made it seem like his fiancé is just there and not someone he is darn lucky to have. I think Whitney deserves better than farmer douche. Sorry JMO.

Based on what I saw on WTA and ATFR, I thought that CS actually did a pretty good job speaking to and about the other women he'd let go. I thought he came across as caring and concerned for their feelings. While he may not be the best spoken fella, I didn't think his body language was odd or OTT, and I thought he handled the always difficult situations pretty well. JMO.

Chris and Whitney have a 50/50 shot just like everybody else coming out of the show no matter who we may compare them to. In fact, I think it's perfectly acceptable and rather admirable to be optimistic that they will be in the 1% success rate of the Bachelor franchise.  

But I have perceived some indifference on the part of Chris towards Whitney during this "honeymoon phase" and she is clearly more into him than he is into her. It's fine now while he still has DWTS but I honestly think it will lead to problems when all the distractions of the glitz and glamour of DWTS and the Bachelor have all gone away and they'll just have to deal with each other. I'm not just saying that because I'm "a Becca fan". It's because I respect and like Whitney  and I'm concerned.

I guess I'm just not willing to anoint them as the second coming of Sean and Cat after a whole week of "normal life".

I don't think anyone is annoiting anyone, sfrank. Everyone knows there's a low rate of marriages on this show but with the crazy concept it's no wonder. I'm just not seeing the negatives some others are seeing. Chris to me seems very happy with his choice and I don't see him the least bit cold or indifferent to Whitney. He appears to consider himself very lucky and that's a good thing. Whitney also looks very happy to me as does his mom.

It's really only going to impact them whether they make it or not. I like them as a couple but I tend to not follow couples anymore. Been there done that. My favorite couple isn't even technically from the show, Chris & Peyton.

Personally, I don't even think the odds are 50/50 coming out of this show. I am always amazed when someone makes it. :Nod:

To be fair, the success is higher than 1%. 4-5 couples have gotten married out 28 seasons (depending on if you count Jason/Molly, and we can't really count Chris as a success or a failure yet). That's about a 14-18% success rate. Not THAT horrible. And, most of the successes have been happening in recent years when the leads have started being "regular people", instead of celebrities, princes, doctors, football players and other rich committment-phobic players.

I wish I can post the one hour rehearsal with Witney from dwts streaming. Chris is funny! Who would have thunk!

As much as I want to ship him with Witney Carson, my absolute fave DWTS dancer, she is only 21. And he is technically engaged, even if 'they' say he ended up with a default winner.

Nothing against Whitney the fiancee, but she reminds me of my dentist. Technical, Clinical, very cliche, methodical, always says the right things but has no depth to it, cause she's just doing her job. I will trust her with my dental needs but I don't want to see her fall in love or get married on tv. But at least my dentist has a soothing grown woman's voice.

Chris found himself a dependable woman to have kids with. He wants his family's approval and he got it. I just do not see a chemistry or "i come alive when you're near" look in Chris' eyes when she's around. He wanted someone whom he doesn't need to work hard for or chase. Maybe that's what he wanted but that's not why I watch TB. I wanted to watch a man who's absolutely taken, breathtakingly in love and melts around a woman of his choice.

I agree. And as much as I wish happiness for both Chris and Whitney, I just can't see them together forever. Maybe they'll surprise me, but for now they're just meh. JMO.

I can't see dancer Witney as any kind of a threat though. She's adorable, but compared to Chris she looks and sounds like a teenager. When she was helping Chris to compose a tweet they looked like father and daughter. Just a different generation. Then again, Chris did make out with 21-year-old Mackenzie who sounds even more young than Witney.

I just wonder if Chris can fully be himself around Whitney, like he apparently can around Witney or even Becca IMO. He said something about Whitney making him want to be a better man. While that sounds like a good thing, it might be double-edged sword. Depends on his definition of "better".

I actually think Chris is fully himself around Whitney. On the show, I saw a relaxed Chris with Whitney. A guy who was secure and enjoying himself very much, and in some case, I thought he looked a little relieved as the ease of being with Whitney. Does he behave differently around Whitney than he did around Becca? Sure - they are two different women with very different needs, styles of interaction and in different stages of their lives. It would be unnatural to expect anyone to treat them identically.

Great post. I agree and think once they do get back to "normal" they will have a better shot and they will figure it out. I am concerned for Whit also and think he wanted Becca (don't think I am alone on that one) but she was not there. IMO ;)

Wish them luck navigating through DWTS. Hopefully they head back to the farm to see see if they work. I am always surprised when a couple from this show makes it. Time will tell, but I don't see it and the odds are not in their favor.
