ABOUT KERSHAW'S CHALLENGE:
Clayton and Ellen Kershaw founded Kershaw's Challenge with one goal: To challenge and encourage people to use whatever passion, purpose or talent that they have been given to make an impact on the lives of others in need.
The charity partners with organizations both locally and abroad to renew hope one life at a time. In addition to fostering strong connections in the Los Angeles and Dallas communities, the Kershaws also have helped to construct and support an orphanage in Zambia over the past two years.
In 2012, Clayton was recognized with MLB's highest humanitarian honor, the Roberto Clemente Award, in recognition of the work he's done for communities in Zambia, Los Angeles and Dallas. That quality of character and dedication to giving back to others also led to him being honored with the Branch Rickey Award in 2013.
As his career progresses, Clayton is even more cognizant of his unique platform to give back to others and make an impact in the lives of vulnerable children. Clayton and Ellen are excited to build upon such recognition and further expand their charitable reach.

I just hate it when people post on tweets by others and say something not real nice.
On Andi and Josh's tweet about the ping pong charity. Someone said on Josh's "How much green are you getting for this charity event."
And on Andi's someone said, "Hope you're going to contribute to this cause and not just do it to keep in the spotlight" That's not verbatim but pretty close.
Why do people go on someone's twitter and then put something insulting on it. What happened to if you can't say anything nice, say nothing?

It's sad, but you got to have a thick skin.

Unfortunately, we have learned that celebrities often ARE paid by charities to show up, and that leaves a sour taste in many people's mouths. We no longer know who is truly trying to help the charity and who is there for a paycheck. Personally, I don't think pay should ever be in the equation, and would never willing support a charity event where appearance pay was involved. Shoot, I do enough of these events where I donate both my time and all my costs, so thinking that someone else who already has more money than I do would be getting paid to be there really is unsettling. But I'm not going to go on people's Twitter asking about it; I try to read between the lines. And I have NO IDEA if Andi or Josh are getting paid for participation. I just like seeing photos of them
Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

The tickets to the event are pretty pricey, but it could be that some sponsor is filling a table and asked them to come- so they might not be paying for a ticket, but it's entirely possible that they're not being paid either. Or, a sponsor is covering their participation.
Given the ticket price, they aren't really expecting Andi and Josh to be the big draw (which make sense since they were not involved with the promotion of the event).

I think it would be reasonable for their expenses to fly there and hotel room be picked up by someone. But as much as Josh likes to give back I do not think they would expect to be paid for this.

I don't know I guess it's just me, I am in the minority again.... For me I wouldn't care if a charity that I support paid a celebrity for coming to their events, with the celebrity status, fame and recognition more people are likely to be interested an one hope that would mean more people giving... It's just the times we live in.....

Nah, charity to me, means you donate or do it for free in order to promote the charitable cause. MOAA.
I will no longer support charities that most of the donation if not 100% goes to the charity itself and literally have called some charities to complain about the frequent mailers and gifts sent out to encourage. Don't gift me, use my donation for the cause.
