  I think far from it. Josh has a different "style" than Andi but I think he's a very strong personality (remember his position on the lie detector test - which in fact "won" the day). Behind that jovial funny exterior is a very strong backbone. Put the two of them head to head in a debate and I'd hate to have to pick the winner. But put the two of them on the same side and I don't think I'd want to take them on.

I think a lot of that "re-calibration" docnash refers to is them getting on the same side in most things.

In an interview I have heard Andi say that toward the end Josh started pulling his hand away and she thought, this must sound terrible and went right into telling him she loved him.

Josh has said in an interview that when Andi finished being "coy" she finally told him she loved him and that's all he wanted to hear.

So I guess my feeling is that they both gave long winded speeches.

Really? What interview was that where she said his hand was pulling away? I gotta watch that over. I knew he was getting scared and angry but pulling away?

It's the interview in People, which I just happen to have open in front of me.   

Let's go back to the proposal. Did it go as smoothly as you were hoping?

JOSH: In the middle of my proposal, I stopped to allow her to gather her words. I assumed she was finally going to tell me she loved me, but it didn't start out like that!

ANDI: I wanted to make him sweat a little, but as I'm talking, I'm thinking, "This sounds horrible."

JOSH: We were holding each other's hands and I started pulling away...

ANDI: I'm like, "I know what this feeling is! Love!"

JOSH: I was like, "Finally!"

Poor Josh.   

I agree that in the last two months there has been a shifting, and re-calibration of the power differential between them with Josh assuming more of his own power.  Both seem to be thriving with this evolution.

It might seem as though two strong personalities might clash but as I can attest to (after 30+ years of marriage) that's not necessarily the case. As long as the two make an effort to understand what's important to each of them, trust the other and communicate control can be easily shared and the "power struggle" becomes instead a "power couple" with a very strong bond between them. Watching and  listening to them in interviews hand off topics between them shows they've made a lot of progress in this re-calibration. BTW it never really ends - you're constantly fine tuning how you work together.

Doc and Lucas, I'd just like to thank you both for your thoughtful, eloquent and well-considered posts. I love to read your analyses from a clinical perspective and a man's perspective -- they're always wonderful food for thought.

Even though TPTB wanted to make us think Josh was a dunce from the beginning, they showed some of this bantering from night 1 when they showed the sushi talk. How many men could have come up w/ those come backs that quickly?

EXACTLY, I am ok with those 3 not liking each other.. Andi/Josh had to sit back all season long with the preconceived image/character of Josh that was set forth by Nick and was taken as gossip by some, even to this day.... So if they don't like each other, it's ok as long as they continue to be cordial...... That's what people/fans have to be ok with you are not going to like everyone even the people you are in contact with on a daily basis.

She told him exactly what ring she wanted and if she also shared what she did with Nick then I think it's a pretty good indication he was The One. At some point she had to stop being so stand-offish with him and "give" herself to him so that must have happened in the fs for them to cross the bridge into a fully trusting relationship. He did have some doubts because he thought she was about to break up with him at the frc though.

Even though his looks and personality may belie this, he is after all human and, of course, as humans, we all have our doubts and insecurities.  Add to that he was having to place a lot of trust in Andi without having all of the significant pieces of information.  That being said, I totally agree with you that right before she finally spilled the beans and admitted her love, Josh's facial expression read to me as a heck of a lot fear tinged with a little bit of anger.  And even as they were celebrating and enveloped in their giddiness he apparently was still processing that as he remarked that it took her long enough to say it.

I agree. I also think a part of this might be that they like to jokingly give each other a hard time. In their HuffPost interview when they were talking about the ring, Andi said something like "[he] better love it, he picked it out," and Josh immediately followed up with "YOU better love it." Or on the radio when Andi was saying that she's a tiger and she'll never say dawgs on top when the dj was talking about all their support, and Josh assertively repeated "No, dawgs on top, baby" Looks like each has definitely found their hilarious match in the other.

I think the bolded is what MM remarked on FB " Josh has finally found his match". I think they both have the same sense of humor. What a great match!!

When Andi started talking for the FR at first I was thinking, Andi, where are you going with this but after watching it more than once (can't tell you how many times, he he) I have changed my opinion.

I think that Josh was rather long winded because he started off from the beginning telling about wanting to find that special girl.  Then he went on to when he first met Andi and kind of continued in chronological order.

Since rewatching it I feel that Andi was doing the same.  She started by saying lots of ups and downs, how when she first met Josh she was scared and went into how he said the next girl he tells he loves he will marry.  She said that really meant a lot to her.  And then she said after all I went through the truth is what I have felt all along and feel now is love.

So I really don't know why Josh got so worried looking at the end.  

TPTB may have asked her to draw it out a little bit to make everyone guessing.

I suspect that you are right on target although my guess is that they did more than just "ask" Andi to draw it out.
