JMO - I don't think he was as "confident" as it appeared. I think it was a defense mechanism and him trying to overcompensate in front of the guys as a way to make himself feel confident. He said multiple things to me that showed he was constantly over-analyzing his relationship, feeling like he needed Andi to give him reassurance that his feelings were real and reciprocated. The episode that showed the peak of his "cockiness" (Brussels) I actually think he was having a minor breakdown within the confines of the show, he seemed very skittish and nervous and it wasn't until he got the group date rose he seemed at ease again, because Andi again reassured him.

Some examples:

- He said in an ITM that he had no confidence in their relationship (France) - he gets the next 1-on-1 date
- In a voiceover he said he did not have confidence it would be him in the end
- In Brussels when he snuck over he said he thought he knew how Andi felt but he needed reassurance before they went into hometowns, she reassured him by being excited he came and made out against a tree
- In Brussels at the monastery he said that he had said a lot of deep stuff to Andi she couldn't say back but needed reassurance they were on the same page, she reassures him by giving him the rose
- In DR he said he was frightened to lose the relationship. At the RC he said he had gone through every scenario in his head and that he obviously over thinks everything

Before the season began we were told I believe by Chloep that Nick constantly needed reassurance and Andi constantly gave it to him. She said herself she might make him a believer.

I think Nick is very analytical and over thinks everything, making him one second confident the other second unsure. Everytime he was unsure he went out to get more "evidence" that her feelings for him were real and pretty much every time she did something to reassure him, this could be Andi or producer induced, I think a little of both. This is Nick's personality of being overly analytical, I have the same personality and I know I would go absolutely crazy in this environment.

I agree and I guess I must be overly analytical because I find myself doing that on this board! giggling

Based on what Ashley said after the finale aired, she was the first to say ILY and JP held back to the end. There was actually a meeting for the FD I think where Ashley said what I have always thought was ILY to JP but I told myself at the time that she couldn't have actually said that. But she probably did.

On Sean's season Catherine said (at the LCD) that she was fighting thoughts of being engaged and going to engagement parties, and Sean said to her "Don't fight it".

I would imagine that on many seasons, though probably not all, the lead does tell F1 that they are going to be "the one" - either in so many words or in more obscure but equally clear words. Especially if there's love involved the lead would seek to reduce anxiety of their F1.

It seems completely reasonable to be insecure and need lots of reassurance on this crazy show. It doesn't end well for 24 of them!

Absolutely, and if you are smart, you wouldn't sign up to be embarrassed on national tv, so keeping a guard up is probably everyone's natural reaction. Andi did a number on Nick if it isn't him. But, I'm still going to believe, one little spliced clip with the gift giving is not going to sway me from the love story I saw all season. :cutesmile!:

Me too. The same. That's why I'm so grateful for the fan-thread and all of your effort.
And I adore reading you sbolduc (together with Nutty, stuckinsc, sdmom and Mia ...we are pretty much on the same page, just that now I really gave up and just want to go with a big bang, so I believe in him being F1)

Don't know if this was discuss when the preview first came out...so if it has, please excuse. Anyway, I was looking for any last minute clue to see if I've overlooked something and noticed Nick's BL in this clip.

Notice when Andi's dad asks where he (Nick) sees the future with all of this, Nick's response is not congruent. Nick says, "I know your daughter's it for me." During his entire response, Nick is shaking his head no. Don't BL experts usually point this out as some kind of red flag? Yes, I know Nick is nervous, but could it be that inside he, himself, is not convinced?

Hmm, if that is the case, maybe he does leave because he is unsure. I am not sure what to think.

Litta, the way I read it ... yes, red flag, but not for him about his feelings, he really believes that she is IT for him, he isn't so sure whether he is IT for her.
Of course, that can turn Andi's dad in doubting him ... and maybe we'll see just that, maybe their meeting doesn't go well, or maybe we'll see what TPTB wants us to believe, so that at the end they can surprise us.
I read your thoughts on Andi's thread and it's not that I disagree with you (especially because I have no certainty) ... but there are things I can find different interpretation to. I'm just tired right now to explain it, maybe tomorrow. It's just so funny, how one minute I can completely see your version and then I look again at the things that have kept me convinced for so long of my F1 and I get a boost of confidence. And you know that's so unlike me. I wouldn't dare to speak so loudly of my idea if there would be a strong indication that I could be wrong. And at times it feels like there is and then again I find it silly to doubt myself. So, I decided I will be just fine even if I fall real hard. And I continue to trust my gut, that the logic of edit that I'm following will bring the result I've envisioned. But if not, I'll be a happy cheerer of the final choice.

Just maybe .. Between Nick having difficulty with the MTP and not getting confirmation of some kind from Andi .. He calls her to his room to chat with her .. Asks her what's up .. She cries .. He backs /walks .. Andi leaves still crying....... On to the FRC.....

At this point, I am preparing myself for each and every scenario. I think about Nick leaving prior to FRC for many reasons mostly because he does get the sign he needs to Andi in order for him to propose. Otherwise, maybe he does get cold feet but Andi's body language seems to indicate the change is in her, not him.
