Married At First Sight - Season 1 - General Discussion - **Spoilers**

I'm really fascinated by MAFS, and I'm especially interested in the editing since this is the first season, at least in the US. (The first version was in Denmark where 2 of the 3 couples stayed together after the 5 weeks, but all were divorced within a year, according to the internet, but I'm unable to find videos of that season on Youtube and I'm too paranoid to use another service.) Will they go the way of TB and hide the love stories to create "good" TV or will they let us see the real story unfold? I'm so hoping for the latter. But in an effort to determine if we are going to be duped -- and to burn time in anticipation of the next episode or even a preview -- I'm investigating the background and experience of the producers. From what I can find out, they have lots of experience with reality TV, specifically Little Women:LA (never heard of it) and (Celebrity) Wife Swap, but no Bachelor as far as I can tell. We all complain about Reality Steve, but I would appreciate a spoiler about about now.

Yes, Love in The Wild. There were only two seasons, (unfortunately,) with successful couples that are married, and others still together. It had great ratings, but mixed reviews by critics. It was one of the best reality tv shows IMO.

Jason and Courtney are just to sweet together. I liked the idea of the board to indicate who's working when so they know exactly what's happening for the month. That's good planning and takes a little of the stress off when each of them can look at the board and know what's going on, on any particular day.

Doug's mother was a little annoying suggesting that Jamie should have been at the baseball game. IA with other's comments, she is a hard working gal, who works 12-13 hr shifts if not more, night shift to boot. All those in the profession are to be commended, but the MIL chose to be negative. That's real life, there are many couples where one works shift work and the other doesn't. I'm not concerned she says she's not falling in love. I think she is. IMO Doug is handling the situation perfectly, and Jamie is taking it one step at a time, she's come a long way since the wedding. BTW the post about her pic in her apartment, I don't think that was her apartment, I could be wrong. I thought it was when they were on her honeymoon, or whenever she said "i like him but it's a secret" or something.

I like Monet and I like Vaughn. Her tweets are much different than Jamie's. Although they seem to be having issues, it would be great to see them work it out, and set an example for those who are in such a rush to split in today's day and age without communicating.

Jamie posted a pic with her dog in bed and there is "someone's" arm in the background so I think they're more than just friends I actually have no doubt that they'll work out from what we've seen so far.

It's definitely her bed she's sitting on, but I don't think it means much, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved back to her apartment. I have no doubts that Jamie and Doug are still together.

thanks Litta dear!  ...just like Nick, i went thru a terrible heartbreak.... ...so this -hopefully more real   - Committed Love Show is part of my self-medication, i guess...   J/K

surprise surprise!. im rooting for Doug and Jamie (eventhough i still have hard time to erase her horrible kissing lessons with Ben from my internal memory server...). I love that Doug fully accept Jamie's corky-self and quirks, and be extremely patient of her late-blooming    (the legendary All of Me song may suit them well!). They both must face internal ( Jamie's trust issues) and and external obstacles (work schedules plus Doug's mom skeptics nature )

Cort and Jason are a rare combo of instant connection (mental and physical), happy go lucky couple, IMO. Needless to say, they are so lucky to have found e.o!..IMO they only have external obstacles to overcome : the crazy work schedules for both of them. They have the highest stake to make it, i think.

Vaughn and Monet : an epitome that sexual physical chemistry can not conquer all. They both still have to learn how to communicate, to be more compassionate, and try to listen more than merely speaking to each other (thats why we have 2 ears and only 1 mouth, right?..  ). IMO They both have internal issues to resolve before being able to commit in a life-long marriage. I might be wrong, but i think Vaughn has some serious internal issues, JMO. Besides that internal obstacles of course their distance NJ-NY play part as their external obstacles. I can see that they wont make it in the end of the experiment.

In a nutshell, i would think Cort-Jason and Jamie-Doug will make it at least pass the 5 weeks experiment. I have high hopes both couples will make their 1st anniv mark. (it will be way more successful than the Danish show if thats to happen). Coming from non-arranged marriage myself, i know the first 5 years was a hard time for normal couple, let alone these couples who met thru the bizarre setting  :shocked!: . Mad props to them if they can make it pass 5 years and hopefully for a life-time!   

Also, i wanna ask you Litta...as a successful RFL sleuther yourself..  ,has there any sleuthing been going on with MAFS?....i wonder whether any of you bother to sleuth more, since i think by little stalking their SMs we could clearly tell who's still together (J-D and C-J) and who's not (V-M)   . TIA for the clarification!     

on a related note : whose arm besides Jamie ? (is this sleuthing-worthy?... )

^^Good question about the sleuthing, mura. I have no idea since I only joined this thread mid-week (maybe Wed morning). I agree, based on SM, it would appear that both J&D and C&J are still together. Their tweets are very friendly and upbeat towards each other. I confess that I haven't studied M&V's tweets as the show itself didn't leave me with much hope.

Right now, I am drawn to C&J's relationship. It kind of seems as of now that the experts were right on the money for them, but we really haven't seen them having to wrestle anything major...yet. As you pointed out, those (schedule, hangers  ) seem to be more external issues/pressures, albeit important, but not core beliefs, values or personality differences. I really like them together, but I'm questioning if they've really been able to show their true selves to one another at this time in the filming. Hopefully, we'll see them go deeper, but I like their start. One thing I noticed in their tweets, using JBF's methods, is that they use present tense almost always when referencing one another -- a good sign.

I've really gone 180º with respect to Jamie from what we saw of her on The Bach/Pad. I like that she's owning her quirkiness and seems to sense that it might be sabotaging her relationship from the start. Thank goodness Doug is patient. He seems all in. If they are not together now, I think they at least walked away as friends. I'm rooting for these guys.

MAFS might just be a great way to get over your disappointment of the 'Ette. BIP, while I'm watching, seems to emphasize the manipulations of TPTB...which then gets me irked all over again.

I think Doug's going to have a bunch of ladies knocking down his door if he and Jamie aren't together anymore. I think they are though, IMO.

My main wish is that they had longer than 5 weeks to decide on staying together or not. 5 weeks still isn't nearly enough time. I understand the need for a limited time frame for filming, but why not film that last episode when the others are almost done airing, so that it is more like 6 months into knowing each other?

I'm hopeful for Jamie and Doug, but prepared to be duped. I don't trust the producers of this show since I have no history with them and I don't know their agenda.

If we can believe what we see in SM, it seems like at least the 2 couples are still together. Although, it's a big red flag to me why they are making it so obvious. I'm not confident that everything is as it seems. SM had me convinced that Devin picked Tribble and Tribble picked Cassie, for SHA. Not so.

Also, Jamie was interviewed on a radio station last week. The announcer tweeted after the interview, that he feels based on the interview, Jamie is single. I went looking for the tweet to post it here and now I can't find it.

I sure hope the couples aren't playing us. Time will tell!
