Re: Married At First Sight - Season 1 - General Discussion - **Spoilers**
Finally got around to watching this week's episode. Seemed to be kind of an "adjustment period" episode where the couples are getting settled into their new places and getting used to each other's schedules.
That was nice that Jason made the effort to get his schedule switched (at least for some days of the week; it wasn't clear if that was a permanent change or just for a couple days of the week). I think Jamie could eventually get her schedule changed too. Most nurses I know work 3-4 12 hours days and then have 2-3 days off in a row, so I don't know why such a big deal was being made out of Jamie's work schedule. It's not like she's working 7 nights in a row.
Monet and Vaughn are a bit of a conundrum to me. If you watched their casting interviews, they each embody what they said they wanted in a partner. However, it's almost like now that they have each other, they found out that they don't really want what they thought they did. Like Monet said she wanted a guy to take charge and be the alpha male/leader, but she's having trouble letting Vaughn do that.
I wish the show would've provided more couples therapy for them than just "yay, your married, now out into the world with you." I know Monet called one of the experts for advice, but it seems to me like maybe, because of the circumstance, they should've been attending couples therapy? Maybe it's just me.

As for the apartments, I would have to imagine the show asked them what they would like to do, move in to one of there own apartments, or find a new one together. I'm sure if they decided the later, they helped them on that hunt, it may even have been a temporary set up if they choose. Both of those apartments looked to be furnished, which could be an easy temporary set up. Jamie's apartment looked really nice in comparison to where they are now, so maybe after the "trial" period they moved into her place?? I can't blame her for not getting rid of it though. ( could explain her tweet from last night in her old apartment)
I thought it was not a good move for Monet and Vaughn to get their own place, both seem to be too set in their ways and do not want to give up anything.. well I say both but I mean mostly Vaughn. As much as their arguing last night was annoying, it was understandable. They are both in their 30's, a little "settled", and they haven't had the opportunity to date to hash their communication differences out.. they just got married! They both seem committed and want this, so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up staying married. Wouldn't that be something 3 for 3?!!!
This show is fascinating and much better/more heartwarming/more rootable than TB.
I agree that Monet and Vaughn seem to be at a disadvantage with this format because of their ages/situations in life. I think (as in the case with real life arranged marriages) they work out better, and thus are usually undertaken, when both or at least one party is younger and/or less "settled" into their own routine, and in a better position to make immediate c
Nobody commented, and I'm sure it's partly the editing, but I didn't think Doug's mother should have been so hard on Jamie for not attending the baseball game. She should be happy her DIL has a responsible job, considering Doug isn't in a position to fully financially support a wife right now. And I get that she wants to spend time getting to know Jamie, but she has to realize that this isn't a normal marital situation and needs to step back and be patient. It's interesting that out of all 6 people, Doug seems to be the only one who has a very involved extended family complicating things.
Since Jamie specifically wanted an extended family their involvement makes sense. It is the hurdle (or one of them) that they have to overcome. Unlike many people, Jamie didn't have a supportive family and she has to get used to the joy and challenges of having one.
It seems like each of the couples has asked for something they may not have fully understood and now has to learn to deal with. Jamie may not have really wanted the family as much as she thought she did since in one interview (ITM if this was the Bachelor) she said that when she had a husband and baby she would have the family that she wanted.
I love the two of them and think they have a great chance of making it. If they do Jamie will finally have a family that she so desperately wanted

Did you watch it on TV, thru Amazon, or vidlocker? I got hooked too and would love to see epi 5 asap!

I agree that the involvement of Doug's family is largely due to Jamie expressing how much she wanted one, and that's part of her/their "story." Also Doug has stated that his family is very important to him, so that element would have to work. As for the other two couple and their family... Cortney has already said her family was not on board with this experiment, and with Jason, I'm sure he's close to his mother but she is so ill. Monet's mother and other family were at her wedding and they also had that brunch, but we haven't seen anything of Vaughn's family. At least I don't remember seeing any of them at the wedding or I don't recall hearing him mention anything about his family other than his father.
I see Cortney has been retweeting a lot of tweets of people asking for a spin off of MAFS. Not that I doubted it, but just another indication that her and Jason are still together. Couldn't very well have a spin off if they were divorced.
I really enjoy this show! I find it so much more enjoyable to watch than The Bachelor. My 15 year old daughter who doesn't like to watch The Bach/Bach'ette is even hooked on this show

I agree that Jamie is getting what she asked for with Doug's family, who do appear to be very loving and welcoming. I guess my point was that I wonder if people like Doug were the exception rather than the rule in volunteering to be on this show; ie, people who were close with their family and/or whose family would be supportive of the venture. Maybe part of the reason the other 5 were willing to participate is because they don't have close enough ties with family members that said members might be outspoken and influential in their loved ones' life decisions (like talking them out of it)? I know Jason is close with his ailing mom, but I doubt she was/is in a position to play a big role in his personal decisions at this point due to her failing health.

Jamie answered me back on twitter and said there would be 10 episodes this season. She did not answer when I said her last picture looked like it was back in her old apartment...

I recall a tweet from Doug that his family 'loves' Jamie. LOL
Anyway, that's cool we get 10 episodes, but I don't want to wait that long to use my cute avi of them!

Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

That's nice you got a reply back from Jamie!
I wouldn't be surprised if they moved into Jamie's apartment after the show was done. Her apartment was so nice in comparison. Maybe she wanted to wait until she knew it was going to work before having anyone at her place, can't blame her!
I know Jamie had said the season finale is September 9th

Me too! It's surprisingly interesting! I'm glad that there's going to be a season2.
