I'd be a little more concerned about a 30 year old contestant that hasn't managed to have a relationship with a young lady in over five years. My humble opinion of course.
This just shows the magic of story editing. In real life, there would be many justifiable reasons for this.
What do we know about Josh's history (from SM, not the show)?
We know that he played baseball at age 17. We know that due to injuries, he reconsidered his choice to pursue an athletic career. We know that he enrolled into his undergraduate program later than most of his peers-probably many already finished their degrees. We know that he spent a lot of time taking care of his family. We know that both parents had cancer scares.
This is rough. None of this is mentioned on the show (except in his pre-show interview), but likely has a profound impact in shaping him into the man that he is today.
Now this is purely speculation, but aren't most of these discussion? You know what word will never be used on this show? Depression. And with good reason, a contestant will not reveal certain personal experiences
I wouldn't be surprised if many times when someone is not as straightforward, its because they really should keep their private life private. Something like conquering fear of heights is one thing, but exposing their true vulnerabilities on TV is another.

Definitely agree that Josh's parents cancer history is life altering as well as the deaths of Dylan's siblings. Apparently Marcus will also have a family story to tell in the next epi. Not sure if this will be a theme before HTDs that will include anyone else as well or if those three will be it.

I guess we are all just different.
I took five years off from dating seriously, not that it started that way, but between graduate school, the death of a sibling and an extended illness and caring for my parents, I just didn't have time to date another human seriously. Would you know that without me telling you? Nope, hope you wouldn't judge me without know it either. For me it was the time, I should have been remarrying to have the child I always wanted. Sometimes life doesn't always give you what you thought you wanted, but it can lead you to something even better.

Very true! He did say, he hasn't had the time. Also, just read that both parents had cancer, and with him being the oldest of a tight family, I can see how his focus would be on that.

We don't want to forget about stuff that may have been filmed but ended up on the cutting room floor. Hours spent together on dates and cut down to less than an hour on screen. Osh kosh b'gosh, Josh! :shocked!:

I LOVE Jillian but the media world is a very strange place. I was actually surprised by her blog... and sorry to be so skeptical, but I wondered if she was being paid to voice an opinion to throw us off the track.Aunties_Love wrote:Hmmm, makes me wonder if she knows something??albean99 wrote:sdmom wrote:I am just amazed we know who those constants really are because we watch them 2 hours a week for the past 2 months!
Btw, the real Nick just recently spent some time with children of fallen heroes. I don't think that's selfish or uncaring.
ITA about Nick. That's such a wonderful cause.
Since this is the edit thread it's fair to discuss how the edit has influenced our opinions about the guys and Andi. Right now they're trying to make us suspicious about Nick & his intentions and it's obviously working with a lot of viewers. They're also hitting us over the head with the front runner tag. I'm wondering if they'll soften his edit by the HTDs and if it will make a difference. Josh is getting a mixed edit. Definitely showing some chemistry but also conflict with him objecting to the lie detector test. I don't know if it's exactly edit but his gushing & being flustered early on triggered a red flag for me because he seems too smooth for that.
Jillian didn't seem to like either Nick or Josh in her blog and she thought Josh would be leaving without a rose.

Yes, he is. It is easy to be friends when you are not challenged. Challenges reveals someones character or true color. This is the real Nick. He is not a bad guy, he is just not ready for marriage, specially not to Andi. Pookie is daddy's girl, she need someone who is selfless who has no problem giving her the attention she needs. I think Josh, Chris, Marcus, or Brian fit this description, question is who she feels deeply for and is herself with, so far Josh is that person. JMO
Sorry why is Nick not ready for marriage exactly?? Obviously assuming the spoiler he isn't going to marry Andi and my assumption would be that he is ok with that. Everyone wants to be with that person that will give them the same love in return. Pretty sure in Nicks first 1-1 that he felt that his life experiences meant he was fortunate enough to knows when it will be forever.
Good question! Why isn't Nick ready for marriage? How do you know the other three guys are ready?
I just went back to watch next week previous again about Nick. Wow? Arrogant to the highest degree is the only word that describe that kind of behavior. He is not ready for marriage based on how he treats the others during the show, what he said about them on his PI for next week previews, and his video on the plane trashing Josh, his words.
The only way we know people is by what they say, do, and how they treat others. Not a bad guy, just not mature enough to sustain a marriage relationship. You don't have to step all over everyone to get what you want. The end doesn't justify the means. There is a right and a wrong way of doing things.
I am going to watch the next episode, and if I see a different and softer Nick, I will come back and change my opinion. But, as of now, [b]he is not F1 material, any of the remaining guys will make a better husband than he would. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Gee, with several posts involving "horses" and "tracks", I am wondering if many of you DO "subconsciously" suspect the same ending I do... down Santa Anita way.
