As far as I know, no contestant has ever been F1 that got the first 1 on 1 date. So there is that to consider too.

I don't think so. Just like the FIR (with the exception of Roberto) the first date of the season has a "curse". That date in many seasons has gone well with a great if not excellent relationship emerging. However often the pressure is one of the causes of the relationship to disintegrate. AshleyH and Brooks came close as Brad said he was to take Ashley to the finale but she decided to leave prior to the RC and Brooks did not even go on the FD with Des. Bets that he would have been in the finale and possibly F1 (sorry Chres fans but that is how I see it) if he was willing. So neither f1 or f2 have emerged from that position yet. At least not since post Brad1.0.

However, quite a few future leads have come out of that position. Ali, Jake, AshleyH, Jillian and Des.

Actually, Des didn't have the first date of the season, Sarah Herron did. Des had the second date.

Thanks ND, that's nice to know.  For some reason Clare's character reminds me of Sean's F2 Ashley.  Ashley's exited the limo in a wedding dress and Clare exits the limo as a pregnant woman.  First you get the wedding grown and then comes the pregnancy, seem like both exits were producer driven.  jmo

That was Lindsey who exited in the wedding dress. And yes, both exits were very producer driven. AshLee was Sean's F3, and she was a whole other trip herself.

A lot can be said about “stats" and patterns from previous seasons but there is a different variable present this season...an uncooperative lead. He has stated all along that he gives the roses as reassurance and what better way to reassure the one you "like" the most than to give her the 1st available rose at each ceremony?
It may be true that f2 usually gets the 1st rose at the FD rose ceremony but that screams producer manipulation to me. How else can you explain the likelihood of EVERY lead, for however many seasons, giving their favourite the 2nd rose? Personally, I think that's done to give the F2 false security in their "connection" going into the finale. I can hear it now...See? He/she must really like/love you because they gave you the first rose and, this late in the game, that's the most important.
As has been evident by the bus stalling out on top of JPab, I think he refused to play their games and did what he wanted and, IMO, that was give Nikki roses to reassure her.

The deleted scene was from Nikki's Miami 1 on 1 where Juan Pablo gives her a Venezuelan hat. But I can't see him posting that particular scene if Clare was his F1. Yes, it was probably a statement of solidarity for Venezuela, but I think it was also a shout out to Nikki as well.
