I have felt all along that JuanP did not really understand what he had signed up for, and it does seem like it is easier for him to be rejected by the women, rather than him having to do the "rejecting".  Was Andi expecting and even wanting to see some of that "emotion" from him when she went there to tell him that she was leaving?  Was she wanting to see him cry, like he did when he had to let some of the other women go?

It was apparent last night that she had an ax to grind with him, and in my opinion, she should have spoken up while they were spending all that time together in the fantasy suite.  That would have been the perfect time to tell JuanP those things.  JuanP is definitely getting thrown under the bus with the edit that they are giving him.

I read an interesting comment on CH's blog where the writer was saying he doesn't believe JP comprehends English nearly as well as he speaks and talked about the blank expression he often has. ITA with that and have noticed it all season. It has to make it harder to really delve into personalities when you don't really understand what they mean. That works both ways of course. Sharleen and Andi may have been harder because of their vocabularies and that's not because JP is dumb. I just think he was at a disadvantage. I like him a lot but could see him just wanting to cut ties with the show as soon as he can.

I agree with you. I didn't understand her and I'm a woman so I know he didn't understand her. How do she think he felt when she told him that she want so badly to fall in love and they are here at the HT, this far in the process. You could see that hurt him.. That bothered me to hear that, you come this far and this is how you feel. JP didn't wait later to ask her about it, he addressed it at the right time. Yes she made a situation out of nothing. There was nothing he could say that would have made a difference. He was damn if do and damn if he don't.

Andi's behavior for the most part is seen as negative in viewers eyes. Over on the ABC boards, there is a post titled "Post one word to describe Andi." Some of the words being used were:

Opportunistic
Self-Centered
Egotistical
Mean

While there were a couple complimentary comments, for the post part the viewers take on Andi is negative. It doesn't seem making Andi the new Bachelorette is a good decision.

Andi will be a fine lead. Obviously her guys are not gonna be like JP. She wants a strong, mature, well spoken and intellectual man.

I feel bad for Nikki and Clare who are left. JP seems bored and going thru the motions. Except for maybe checking out Nikki's tops or what little she has on..

He did but she wasn't listening. She just wanted her point to be valid, it only mattered how she felt. I hope during her season that it's about the two. He asked her what did she want him to say or do. He told her if she didn't like him he understood, he couldn't force her to love him, just as he told her in the FS, when he asked her about her comment (she wants so badly to fall in love) he didn't want no forced love. He apologize if he offended her. So what else should he have did told her to bend over so he could kiss her tail. I think Nikki knows what they have and not gonna judge him on someone else relationship.

The ABC board is just one example.  Facebook and Twitter comments are also mostly negative on Andi.

This would make sense, especially if JuanP rarely has to speak English in "his" world.  I would have thought that he would have had a better grasp of the English language, after living here in the United States for a long period of time.  But, isn't there a large population of Hispanics living in the Miami area?  

I suspect that his family and friends mostly prefer to speak Spanish when they get together, and that may have hurt JuanP in the long run - simply because there was not a real need for him to master the English language.  He probably knows just enough to get by, and I have noticed that he does not understand words that are often used as slang here in the United States.

I don't know if he did use the word "default" when talking to Andi in the FS.  I tend to believe that he didn't use that exact word, but that he did say that Andi almost didn't make it to the FS portion of the show.  In his defense, he did tell her when they first met up that he did have one concern after thinking about something that she said at the HTD.  So, in his own clumsy way, I think that JuanP might have thought that Andi would find it comforting to know that he KNEW without a doubt that he had made the right decision by keeping her.  And that she had reassured him of that  - AFTER she told him why she had said that she "so wanted to fall in love".

Bottom line, there was a communication problem between them.  Part of that was probably due to his command of the English language, which did not help matters.  And, as it has been pointed out, JuanP does not have a filter and does not think things through before saying some of those things.

And timing is everything - we don't know if they actually had sex, but if they did and this or the remark about his FS date with Clara was said afterwards, that would explain Andi's reaction.
