I think jlccaz' comment bears repeating as it appears that JuanPa has been framed by many including some on this board as a moronic, uneducated person who just doesn't get much of anything.  Wonder how intelligent and/or educated we would sound in a second language.  I think he understands nuances much more than given credit for and other than the fact that he tries to halt the women's feelings (particularly hurt and sad ones) especially if he feels he has caused them, I think he has a pretty high EQ (emotional intelligence).  While I take significant umbrage to his "pervert" comment, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

Further, I don't get all of the criticism about how many women he is kissing.  His predecessor would be the first to admit that he (Sean) kissed many women and has stated more than once he doesn't regret it as he felt it important to be fully present with each woman while with her.  Yet, JuanPa seems to be getting blasted for the same behavior.  And, as i mentioned elsewhere, if you watch closely, he is not kissing indiscriminately.  Kat apparently did not get kissed although she made it to the last 8 and I am not sure Chelsea did after her 1-1 (other than kisses on the cheek).  And I have found it refreshing that he can have fun and enjoy himself without the aid of alcohol.  From what I have heard, due to his rare drinking while filming even though he asked the women not to have more than a couple of drinks a night many of them chose not to drink at all since he wasn't no doubt creating much more of a challenge for the drama-seeking producers.

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Many may think the because of his broken English, he is uneducated, and that really couldn't be farther from the truth.  As far, as the kissing aspect, I think Juan Pablo has kissed less girls than many of his predecessors.  I am not sure why he is getting more flack for it.  Maybe it's because he is Latin, or not the typical American guy, it really is quite puzzling.

I totally agree with you.
Juan Pablo has shown great intelligence by:
- being able to refrain from drinking
- choosing not to kiss every girl, only the ones he really cared for
- being able to speak 2 languages and even being on TV show with his second language

I believe he is smarter than some people think...

He comes across very wise in his decisions so far. Plus, he has great listening skills which is a great key to decision making. He is a very smart man who is under estimated because of his accent. He is going to make the best decision for him and his daughter and will surprise many. Can't wait! TeamJuan!!

For me, i wont call JPab a `tool`, but i dont see him as highly as the Hottie Dimples Latino Roberto either. educated, accomplished, well-traveled and classy. He is so classy that even the Puppet Master with all his tricks - unbelieveble amount of $,etc- couldnt drag him into the mud in the name of `the first non-white Bachelor` of this silly show. (Oh, how i wish he had accepted this gig!!!.. Maybe God knows if he is, i would constantly drooling over my screen..and wasting another valuable 4 month of my life!!LOL..  ). OTOH I dont get the vibe of classy and educated from JPab, tbh.

as for Clare, she is not only an ordinary hairstylist. she OWNS the business (her bio). huge difference. i would rather call her `enterpreneur`, which i highly respect, then. and yes, she is a stunning cutesy for my eyes, more amazing given the fact that she is the oldest among the bunch.

I personally think JuClare are look-alike. an indicator of great match pairing, IMO. much or so like Jason-Molly and Chres. i maybe bias bc me and my DH of 18yrs are so look-alike  :giggle:. They seems on the same page of their life and have similar family background. I too not only can see the physical attraction between the two, but also strong emotional connection. They just seems `click`.

TPTB just need to smack our head with this `lusting` impression and contradict it with this `ideal future mommy`figure, the hot blonde pediatric nurse, the F2.  They really have to push hard for rating this time around with more wacky edits for the F1    : :jelly- crazy edit, Clare-gate, conflict with other girls, Nikki instead of her who get to meet Camilla. :shocked!: .etc

i have nothing bad to say about any of these contestants and JPab&his F1 (i suppose its Clare), knowing (more-or less) a bit of of how this Machine`s work. i just wish the final couple the best. Do i think they broke up by the ATRF? No. Do i think they will last for a lifetime? Also No. After all, we have had Ben-Courtney --the so-called `lusty` relationship--who can last about 1 year (mind you, they surpassed JEM who had only 3-4 mo)  . Borrowing JBF`s opinion, mind you this silly show`s Golden Rule : TPTB dont give a single care about the lead and his/her F1`s image for viewers/fans.
IMO The final couple literally like a baby giraffe (chuckle2, borrowing Clare`s line   ) sent to the jungle full of wild predators out there post-show. The stronger they are, the more likely they will survive (Jason-Molly, Jash & Chres) and the weak one (pardon me for using this example..cough2 Ben-Coutney, JEM) will be....... history.

Haven't read all of the threads here, especially those in the spoiler sections. I had no idea "some on this board" view Juan as moronic. On twitter, they are downright nasty towards him... no surprise there. Yet it appeared to me that the posters here are a LOT softer on him than most of the past Bachelors and 'ettes. All of them, unfortunately, get ridiculed by the viewers and the media. The only stupid thing he did was express his gay bachelor opinion, but even celebrity Lance Bass forgave him by saying his conservative upbringing had a lot to do with his muddled thinking.

What I find amusing about him is that you can tell he understands the ladies' English better than he lets on, since he often recycles their colorful words in his PI sessions. Yet words like Sharleen's "cheeky", for example, he fully expects a definition given. She, like others, view him a certain way (not always the accurate way) and his getting them to explain themselves has a "mirror" effect... Sharleen probably realizes over time that words like "cheeky", "cut to the chase" and "tease" apply to her own personality even more than Juan's. (In the case of "cut to the chase", she is discussing his immediate kissing, but she is very immediate in her opinions and conclusions before letting things happen.) I also suspect he fully understood what Clare's "bolt" meant, but wanted to double-check she wasn't going to.

I agree. Nice to see these comments. I'm sure long full tiring days of speaking in a second language to many girls can take a toll and we get the scenes where his conversation skills seem lacking. Like that he shows affection to the girls he's into. The others, not so much. I think he's trying to fake it as little as possible. Also I think his reactions to editing on twitter show he tried not to be a puppet and maybe didn't always "produce" what the producers wanted or needed from him.

He seems very caring towards the women he's interested in. I'm at the point where I wish he'd let the ladies have their fun until the end and then say goodbye to them all and go find a nice latina woman. I like a lot of the girls, but none for him really. Still a fun sason to watch but I'd cheer for a no pick since I don't see a genuine long term match and I'd like to think he's not the type to put on a fake relationship post show.

Desiree website-JP recap- I think her comments merits consideration because not only has she been thru the process twice, but she also knows JP. I would also love to read Alli's recap, but I don't think she is doing it this season.

This is what she says about episode 6:

She seems like a cool chick and can hang with the boys but we will see if her insecurities about him will get the best of their relationship. It’s a tough position to be in and I can understand (lived it) the highs and lows of dating a man who is growing relationships with 7 others, but as Bachelor history has shown us the most confident ones (in the relationship) last the longest. Side note: I think she may be the first girl in Bachelor history to have worn a one-piece bathing suit on a date. ITA with the bolded quote. JP had a conversation with Sean/Cat about staying open, and even though he recognizes that his relationship with Claire is further along, I think he is staying open. I wouldn't be surprise if he did have a conversation with Des privately.

We all have our own opinions of JPab. Yes, he speaks two languages...sort of...and finished college, however, he still does not seem to be the brightest bulb in the pack. To me the ladies look thoroughly bored by him but, I'm sure we will be more informed about all of this once the show finishes airing and the ladies are more free to speak.

The thing that I want to address is specifically his soccer career. People keep repeating the above...that he gave up his soccer career mostly due to becoming a dad. JPab and the producers have fostered this view. I have some experience with soccer, soccer players and soccer coaches. I have an acquaintance who attempted a professional soccer career and was technically somewhat successful managing to play for a couple of seasons in Italy in the C League. My dad was also friends with a very successful coach who coached all over the world and won championships in Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Spain and the Netherlands with major clubs such as FC Porto, Anderlecht, Panathinaikos, Atlético Madrid and Ajax. Sadly he passed away several years ago, but suffice it to say, he was in the big leagues.

JPab played as a midfielder/forward and left soccer when he was 25/26...in his prime. While a player in any position can score goals in soccer, the forwards and midfielders are the ones expected to score...JPab did not. To say that his career was lackluster is an understatement. He and the  producers can spin it any way they want, but no successful soccer player leaves the game because he has a child and in his prime earning years to boot. He left because his contract was not renewed and no other team wanted him. Soccer is a very tough career and very difficult to reach any sort of professional level and stay there. While I acknowledge that he had to have talent to have made it to where he did, looking at his stats, no way do I buy that he left because of Camilla. That makes is sound so much more romantic for the viewing public but as much with this show, it's not exactly reality.

No player goes and gets the ball after he scores...unless he doesn't score much...which he didn't! He was rewarded with a yellow card for that behaviour which is a no no. On the other hand, even then, he was clearly obsessed with pregnancy and babies.
