*No Spoilers* The Bachelor 18 Edit Discussions

A couple thoughts related to several above posts:

I really like that we're getting to see a lot with who seem to be the top girls. Recent seasons were starting to annoy me with wasting tonnes of time and 1-1 dates on unimportant, uninteresting characters, major drama people and keeping frontrunners or F1s in the background for more than half the season. I get that there has to be mystery - but I also like to see the main relationships progress over the course of the show. We've had quality moments with those who seem to make it far each episode. I feel like the story telling is very strong this season so far. I'm excited to see what happens with several different girls and how their stories play out. Less filler and wasted time to me this season. Maybe because they have interesting, varied girls and no one main villain. I like it anyway - I'm entertained much more than in a normal Bachelor season. Seems almost like an older model season with creating interesting characters out of the women and then watching what happens with them.

Also re Clare and Juan Pablo and the chase. To me she's being clear she's interested but not as clingy as others seem to find her. To me, Clare is just making the most of any time she can get and going for it. He is the one that kissed her after the octopus throw-up comment and he is the one it looks like kissing her in the boat next week with other girls around. Plus, the girls comment they feel like they're on a 1-1 date with him and Clare. I remember the girls saying that about Emily on the Nascar date in Brad's season. And JP carrying Ashley back from the beach in front of all the guys after "the" kiss and her telling him first about Bentley. Sometimes the F1's ARE the ones that get special attention and we see it and the other cast sees it too. So I guess I'm on the fence if she seems too out front and center to be F1, or if she really is the one he's connecting most with in a 2-sided way. Monday should shed some light.

Then again, the editors cleverly make it appear like she is stalking him like a burglar too... which adds more fuel to the Clare-chasing-Juan-instead-of-the-other-way-around theory.



My whole "vibe"... *chuckle chuckle*... is that SOMEBODY tells him to "cool it" with Clare since there is a show to continue. Maybe he eventually loses interest in her as he makes his move on the other ladies on their dates? Or... maybe... as Ashley labeled JP her season... Clare is that "magnet" he can't avoid. We shall see...

I see the same things that you do, JBF. I have given up on looking for clues in the episodes. I'm just waiting for the mid-season previews to see if anyone else will jump out to me as F1 as Clare did in the initial previews.

He seemed equally smitten with Nikki, Clare and Andi. Probably Chelsie too, although she was talking up a storm with her specs on. Yeah... after Nikki, he joked "no more limos", but his people.com blog suggests that the limos kept getting better... so to speak. (Nikki was in the first, but I'll let you read what he says: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Since we barely saw Clare's 1 on 1 time with him that episode, I pretty much "assumed" Nikki was the frontrunner after her limo arrival and sit-down. Only after watching episode #2 did my mind start changing.

Some think the fact that Chris and Clare were edited arriving at the #16 spot is too obvious. (Jason's Molly was also #16. For those keeping score, the edited limo orders since Matt's season... although these are not necessarily the actual limo orders since at least three of these were allegedly last: Jason's "temporary" Melissa at #3, Jesse #8, Catherine at #10, Vienna, Roberto and Jef at #11, Shayne at #15, Ashley's JP at #21, Ed at #26 arriving with 4 others late and Brad's Emily at #28 out of 30. Nikki was #5 this season, Chelsie #12, Renee #19, Sharleen #26 matching Jillian's Ed, Andi #27)

I agree. Clare is not the one that JP is crazy about and she is pursuing him and not him pursuing her. I see his body language as pulling away from her and not going towards her when he is with her on group dates. I would have thought he'd be going towards her if he liked her. kinda like he did with Chelsie,Nikki,Andi and Renee.. If he really liked Clare, why didn't he go into the boat with her on the South Korea group date? He chose to go into the boat with Renee and Andi which I found telling. I have not seen enough of him being around the others-sharleen, Danielle, kelly on the group dates to tell who he really likes.

ITA with you both! She is pursuing him and not vice versa. She is pursuing the other ladies not her. They might have strong chemistry, but like Sharlean said, she wanted to see if there was a connection not just the chemistry, smart girl, I said. Chemistry is temporary but a connection and friendship is what last.

In addition, I am finding JP very wise in his decisions as far as who goes and stays, looks to me like he is taking it very seriously. I have major doubt that Clara is F1, but if she is, it will be very short lived. Clara is too clingy and too jealous, she is not gona be able to handle the fact that Camila is a priority for Juan, and Camilla mom relationship with Juan will also be major challenge for her.

Very true, I think they are changing games this season. We might be totally surprise who the F1 is.

I agree. I think we will be surprised by who F1 is. Chris Harrison's blog leads me to think Juan changes the game or perhaps his mind quite frequently. Also camera editing seems to point to someone refusing a rose. Because they keep bringing that up. I think we will see more than one girl refuse the rose. JMO. I'm finding myself going back to his talk with Sean and Catherine and how cameras seem to put quite a lot of focus on Sean telling JP not to be carried away by a girl he has the most physical attraction to but to keep an open mind and explore all possibilities.

I have a question that I'm hoping one of you can answer. In past seasons, does the F1 take on much of a narrator role? As I've gone back through the first four episodes, Clare has made some PI's, but very few. Is this a positive sign, negative sign...or completely irrelevant as it relates to F1?

Nikki and Andi have been front and center in terms of the narration (as well as others, but I'm comparing just the F3s). Does this give us any clue based on past trends?

I noticed in the past 3 seasons MF tweeted in a roundabout way who the winner is immediately after filming. He tweeted about Emily not wanting to fall in love with many men but just with 1 or 2..in ref to jef with 1 f or 2. For Sean's season he tweeted that the bachelor nation would really DIG the season. Catherine was the one who used that word dig. With this season he tweeted goooaaalllll. Who knows what that means eh? I reckon the winner was on the soccer date.

The F1s don't narrate much, so... yeah... it strongly puts Clare in the F1 edit role. Everybody can debate if she really is F1, but her edit fits... so far.

However, much depends on the individual. Catherine was an excellent narrator, very articulate in her word usage, so the editors used that to their advantage to "downsize" her connection with Sean in the earliest episodes. Mostly she was discussing Tierra. She did mention Sean a lot more than the other "narrators" though.

Nikki on the dance date reminded me of JP in Ashley's season with all of her "group dates suck" talk. Also Emily complained a bit on her group dates with Brad, being quite the sourpuss on the Red Cross one especially (I think it was that one). One catch though... Nikki only momentarily mentioned Juan when she was in her "mood". When "positive", she discussed Juan quite a bit. (For a while Nikki's edit reminded me quite a bit of Chris Lambton's in that the editors seemed to want us to root for her by showing The Relationship mostly from her perspective rather than the lead's. However, when "negative" Nikki emerged on the dance date, I am no longer sure what the editors are doing.)

Last season's Chris did discuss a bit more than usual on the Mr. America contest, yet... intriguingly... Des was often involved in his scenes, aiding him with "buckle help" on his shoes for example... and cheering him on stage even if he thought he did poorly. He also complimented Brooks twice... on his performance and also for coming back from the hospital in the previous episode. Otherwise, Chris was all about Des, but with an occasional comment on the travel scenery. They do want the F1 to promote the tourism, especially when telling us it is their first time (i.e. in Munich "Both Des and I have never been here before. It’s her first time and it’s my first time and today’s perfect.")

I think tomorrow's episode will be significant- I'm gonna  be watching for Juan's social media interactions and that of the contestants.

You're right, there is definitely strong sexual attraction/undeniable chemistry btw them. So, I guess we will start getting a better picture of where this goes starting next week

JBF, I can't help feel that Clare is your fav, which Ok! If Juan chooses her, she will become my fav too. But, right I ll go with Andi, Chelsea, Shalean, and Nikki in that order. I like Rene, but, I think both having an ex can be difficult to merge, same as Cassandra.
