Really, what makes it so different? I do not know in what context the picture was used. Brooks did care for Des and regardless of when he left, it would still hurt that they are making money off "poems of love" that were written while on the show.

Des and Chris both agreed to make the poetry public....I have a hard time believing that Brooks asked Des if it was ok to use her as a marketing tool.   From my perspective the too things are totally different.
I agree. Reminds me of another opportunist from Utah.

Des and Cris seem to be more opportunistic in this case. IMO. They are getting paid.

I should clarify,  there is already a level of this in all of the contestants IMo, feel free to make a buck or two hosting or whatever comes your way,  but at the expense of Des? Tacky.

I would feel the same had Chris taken lines from Brooks' departure and used it in a poem.

I cannot call it tacky yet because I do not know in what context that picture was used.  So I personally, will hold off on calling Brooks out. I do not believe he was "paid" speaker. He represented his company.

Some might even take this further to the point that it was a symbiotic deal that FitMarketing would benefit by having Brooks not only be on the show, but make it far enough in the process to grease their hands(FitMarketing) in Brooks' promotion.
FitMarketing is nothing but another start up marketing firm amongst many, so any publicity would be gravy! And Brooks is nothing more than a mere sales rep in a small firm. 11 weeks of free primetime national advertisement. Wow. Not a bad gift from ABC.
But then that might suggest Brooks was slated from before day one to make it far in the season. Say it aint so. giggling

Does anyone know if MF or ABC whoever "owns" the end product of the show gave permission to have footage used in this way?

I would also say that Brooks just gave Des and Chris free marketing for their book of poetry by keeping them relevant. How many people at Inbound became curious about the bachelor -> Des -> Chris -> book.

Everyone is profiting post show. As for Chris "unfollowing" Brooks - that media tour had to be a real wake up call with the Brooks comments, so wouldn't you?! He couldn't exactly hide from it any longer. Why would you want to follow the guy that's a constant reminder that you were the second choice!

As for Inbound Marketing conference, I disagree with as notion that he is somehow "using Des"...he is doing a presentation entitled "Marketing Lessons from the Bachelorette". Desiree was the Bachelorette so how can he not talk about her?! How is any different from anyone else talking about their experience post-show?

I didn't see it but based on what was said by people who attended he talked about his experience, marketing in social media, and how it related to inbound marketing. Brooks' journey involves Des so I am not sure how he can talk about it without mentioning the biggest thing that happened.

IMO, the scene is just as emotional of him as it is for her and doesn't "belong" exclusively to either of them. It happened, why should he ignore it. If he talking about lessons I assume its regarding honesty and being upfront when something is not right or wrong for both parties. If anything the presentation loses credibility if he fails to mention it. After all wouldn't that be the most important lesson of the journey?!

No one was there to know the context of what they spoke. Also, Des doesn't own the right to her image, ABC does. They certainly made sure they showed her crying over and over and over again for Brooks in embarrassing fashion and they knew Chris was the "winner". But suddenly people are outraged because Brooks showed the same clip in presentation about his experience. Ha! Ok.

Doubtful. Does anyone know for certain what the entire context of the presentation was without having been there, read a transcript or watched a video link? Can anyone know for certain that Chris unfollowed Brooks on Twitter because of this presentation? Or that Des would be upset by it? I believe as sfrank pointed out, Brooks was part of this and it's his story as much as hers in my opiinion. What if Brooks did have permission granted from whomever owns the end product? If he did, does that lend credence to a consipracy that this was all part of a major marketing plan at the start?

That's not what I was thinking, but since you mention it, possibly. My thought was whether MF/Next/ABC are even aware of their "product" being used as part of a marketing presentation.

I'm sorry, pavalygurl, I didn't mean that directly towards you but was expounding on my initial answer to your question with thoughts/questions related to other posts on this subject.  I would imagine if they weren't aware, and it bothered them, Brooks/Fit Marketing may hear about it.
