This is a well stated post. Thanks!! Regarding the bolded; I think that pretty well sums things up.veg_out wrote:Sprite, I think that most people have just moved on now. I do think that this season was much more clear cut than any other. When I look at it, Des was interested in only two guys this season. The one didn't want her, and she chose the other one who did want her because she cared about him enough to try a relationship. If it was always storyboarded to end up that way, that's left to interpretation and speculation. Whether Chres is a sham, a business ploy, a mix of both, or real love, well, camps here will differ, but I can't help but root for them. If they don't make it, it'll be a bummer, but nothing unexpected for this franchise!

Oh, my lord, Spritey, comic genius and utter outrage at his stereotypical view of male-female relationships would have made for a snarktastic season! I can't love him any more than I do, that loon. Sadly, he has found himself aSprite wrote:I know that nothing I say will change anyone's mind and unfortunately, nothing anyone else has said has changed my mind either. I don't know what it is about her season since I didn't really care one way or the other, but, post season it is annoying me more than Jake the fake and the plastic Emily put together.
On another note...always have to smile when I see your avi Veg. Wish Ryan was the next bachelor!
Feel free to vent. Unlike Maynard and Jake's season, I can actually get behind these two. Maybe I'm just in the mood to root for love in people's lives these days. We all need it.

Well... it is not like we are all here to hold hands and sing Matt White together.Sprite wrote:On a more personal note...for whatever reason...I just can't seem to buy into Des and Chris and their love story. I don't really understand why? They seem like a good match and they seem to be doing well in Seattle, and yet???? I just don't understand. Maybe it's because they both seem to be so low key with their emotions to me and yet they keep tweeting out things like "with my lover', "with my love", "with my financee" and pimping out the poetry book which is proof of their love every other second? For whatever reason, it just seems kind of forced to me. Oh well, end of rant. Thanks for listening and now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
My whole problem is that I've seen too many seasons with too much "like" stuff for comfort. It is as if Juan's season will just be a matter of connecting the dots. You just know the one they will shove in our faces will not be the one he winds up with. I am just curious if they will present him like Jason Mesnick and attempt a switcheroo at the end or have him like Sean stating in PIs that every contestant has qualities he sees in his future wife. Maybe he will be the male version of Emily, tagging his Little Ricki along and struggling to decide if his final two should meet her.
To be honest, I didn't feel all that "gooey" about Sean and Catherine. Yet they were giggling up a storm in certain scenes (episode #4 was my favorite of theirs), so... yeah... I can occasionally see "IT" between them. Of course, that didn't stop me from letting out a yawning groan when he signed up for DWTS. (Giddyup! Another five weeks of Mister Perfect Abs on TV! No, I didn't watch. Maybe because Diamonds + Hearts: A Poetic Memoir read aloud with sock puppets would be little less painful to me, I dunno.) Cathy did unintentionally make me laugh when she visited Des in Madeira speedtalking like Walter Winchell that she wanted a best friend and he wanted a best friend... like they are more like Jefie and Arie.
... and there is nothing wrong with Team Cat-Lowe. Every couple is different in their personalities. Isn't this the case every season? Oddly enough there was a select few who liked Ben and Courtney together... and they had to maneuver a series of land mines here. There was a bloody civil war raging after Emily's ended with all of these claims she should have chosen Arie. And if you think "Chres" is icky, you just have go back into time with J'Ash. Their twitter accounts recorded gooey photos practically every other day. When one of the hurricanes hit NYC, this whole forum was watching their every move. The occasional comment on the poetry book can't hold a candle to the sea of pink cupcakes bouncing around that season.

I get what you're saying. Producers do have a successful formula and don't see much need to stray from it and every couple is different. Some I see and some not in a million years. I did not buy Emily with either Brad or Jeff. While I didn't much like either Ben or Courntey, I could see the attraction. Didn't think it would last, but, I saw it. Ashley/JP and Sean/Cat...well, those were like neon lights flashing to me. Des and Chris... As I wrote previously, I just don't know why they bug me, but, they do. It's not like I dislike them like I did with Jake, Vienna, Ben, Courtney, Emily, Jeff. And it's not as if I don't see how compatible they are. For whatever reason, they feel forced to me. Others have may have been as mushy or worse post show, but, they weren't crying that they were holding their heart to give to some other person, only to have it rejected and then days later have an epiphany about their real true love. Again, I'm not saying she didn't have some feelings for the man or that they may not have deepened subsequently, just that I don't buy all the revisionism that is going on with fan pages. All the feelings expressed on their tweets may indicate true love...and I hope that is the case...but, for me personally, it just smacks of a couple trying to convince people that they are the real deal and when I think people are trying to convince me of something that doesn't make sense to me, that stubborn streak comes to the fore and I wonder why?JBF wrote:Well... it is not like we are all here to hold hands and sing Matt White together.Sprite wrote:On a more personal note...for whatever reason...I just can't seem to buy into Des and Chris and their love story. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect the different views on this thread. I don't believe Des and Chris are trying to force fans or anyone to think one way or another about them. I don't think they care. People close to the couple state that things are going well but who knows if they will make it down the aisle. I also don't think they are pimping themselves every other second. And yes I do remember Jash and they were cramming loving tweets and pictures everyday! I believe Chris and Des are trying to find a happy medium and know that they have to keep a fan base if ABC will even consider paying for their wedding. I know Ashley and JP were told that too.
I also don't think it is accurate to compare Des and Chris to Deanna and Jesse. They are more like Ali and Roberto or even Jillian and Ed (not so much Ed but for the fact that Jillian packed it up and left Canada to move to Chicago. She was there almost a year. Deanna and Jesse never made any serious attempt to start a new life together and were over in a couple of months---if they were even together. They don't even speak ---no love was ever lost there!
Keep the opinions coming. Love the interesting conversations from everyone! :cutesmile!:

I edited the post because I just want to address the bolded. JMO...I'm not necessarily thinking they are trying to force fans to buy them as a couple...to me it is more like they are trying to convince themselves, but, what do I know?soccermom333 wrote:

I guess we just have to agree to disagree. No need for them to convince themselves when they already know. They have stated that many times. They both believe they are meant to be. Again, time will tell and I wish them the best. Interesting tweet from her mom today. She said they would be seeing them at Christmas and that des is happy with Chris. I am very happy their time post show seems to be going so well. Hope it continues and their love continues to strengthen and grow. Not everyone will agree with me but I am also happy they went to church together today. Good sign and just another sign of THEIR ompatibility. Have a great night!

That's the reason to watch the post-show behavior, I think. These two moved right out of the spotlight and seem to be trying hard to be normal.

Good ol' Ryan... telling it like it is. Apparently Emily really enjoyed him on the show and was chuckling at the sight of him at MTA. When Jimmy Kimmel presented her his top four, Chris B. was removed from the list and Ryan inserted... as if he had a "sign" from a producer that she would have rather taken him to hometowns over Chris. At least Emily was smiling over Jimmy's selection with that change made.
THE GOLDEN RULE OF MIKE FLEISS:
Regardless how much viewers plead and fuss, they will NEVER EVER get a straightforward "love story" from start to finish, UNLESS there is already trouble in paradise. We know which seasons THOSE are... Jake/Vienna, Brad/Emily, Ben/Courtney... in which the lead was intensely focused on one from start to finish and then "poof"... gee, they didn't last long, did they?

Absolutely love Ryan's line. He is very much king of the lines - especially the ones that aren't meant to be funny but are ;) Totally agree that line should be the banner.JBF wrote:I think we should make Ryan's statement a banner logo for this site.grace8136 wrote:Interesting comment from Ryan:

Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?
