The funny thing is about all of this - if there is something to be found funny - is for once we can't blame the lead for not picking our favorite - she did pick him, he did not pick her though.. I guess I really need to move on from this now and stop dwelling on it. Everyone seems happy now so that is all that matters, no use lamenting what could have been at this point.

Oh Brooks, Brooks, Brooks....where do I begin? You broke so many hearts. I still have so many questions and the hurt isn't going anywhere. After kissing her on the Hollywood sign he said he could be sharing the first kiss with the person he would be with for the rest of his life. He bounced back after the dodgeball game and ran to her with a broken finger and looked so smitten. Did the competition and the format of the show get in the way of the love we all saw developing? Or was it just that he was enjoying the wooing process at the beginning and not paying attention to anything else? Some guys like to get the girl but once they do they turn around and run the other way. Was that what happened to Brooks? Or was he feeling it and getting close to it and then after hometowns decided it wasn't worth it since he wasn't there yet with only one week to go?

She is still in love with him and I know the feeling very well since I am also living proof of something very similar. You don't forget and your lies become very transparent eventually.

He did love her with his head which I get. He chose not to love her with his heart and I will not hold that against him. He made a choice and as a guy who is as he claims ready for love will find the right girl sooner or later. Believe me, I don't think he's sweating it. He's ready to move on and face life and its ups and downs with as much gusto as possible. There's new adventures to be had and other things to conquer. He conquered a heart on national TV and so many of us were under the same spell. I just hope he goes back to being himself and as he's conquering new things he does so with as much grace as he did in front of our eyes. I just couldn't handle seeing him chasing women, fame, and celebirty after all this. I just feel like I couldn't handle that after everything else we've been through!

I'm going to say that he still has feelings for her. Is he ever going to admit it to anyone let alone himself? I doubt it. Poor Brooks. I wish him well and hope that there are no hard feelings due to unresolved questions hanging over both his and Des' head.

Still wondering what that scene was of him crying with that mystery object. Still wondering why I'm sure he said "I'm as in love as I've ever been." Still wondering why he'd follow her on twitter all that time when he knew he'd hurt her so bad. Still wondering if they could have made it had he been more willing to let his guard down and give her a chance.

You've come to the right place to share, because I am wondering the same things as you, I am asking some of the same questions as you, and I, too, hope that Brooks is in a good place, remains in a good place and continues to be social so that we are able to follow what he's doing.

On the Madeira date, he said he was glad to be sharing that moment in the clouds with Des, and also made reference to that possibly being a moment with his future wife. I just don't get why people thought he was checking out already at that point. I thought by dinner, and after dinner watching the fireworks together, etc., that he was ready to introduce her to his family.

Love your post and I feel the same as you.  There are so many unanswered questions that we will never know the answers to.  But it's good that we can discuss our feelings on this board.

every thing we come up with are just guessing but I guess it's part of the 12 step program.  I feel to some degree he did love her.  He admitted their first date was awesome, their alone time was great from what I have seen and the ones we have not seen.  

One the alone timeforgot which country where she ends up sitting on his lap, he tells her how much he liked being there and he was emotional involved.  Everything looked like it was going great.  So what the hell happened is the million $ question.

One  theory is that the closer it got to the end he was more uncertain on how she was feeling and was scared of getting his heart broken again and the walls starting going up again.  Because when he was breaking up with her and she said I love you, why did he say, why didn't you say something earlier?  If he did not love her why would that have made any difference?  Why did he tell her he was hoping to meet her parents but did not know how conflicted she was with the other relationships?  He asked her if he should go because he didn't know what to do or what to say.  Why was he so emotional at the end?
Why was he already missing the moments they shared?  It all does not add up to not loving her no matter what he says.  He may have been scared to admit it to himself.

He's tweeting left and right and is being very funny and witty in the process.

I'm still coming to terms with how one of the most awesome first dates this show has had, with Brooks declaring "I could easily fall in love with Des", ended so miserably.  Where Brooks is concerned Des didn't do herself any favors by canoodling and kissing many of the guys, and more than just pecks.  And as guys do, I think they compared notes - Brooks comes from a conservative family and probably lost some respect for Des, which caused him to start detaching from her.

During the season RS was steadfast Brooks and Des would never make it to the altar, that he was not ready to get married.  Reading into that I gather he was getting alot of emails from people who know him...  I will say that Chris seems like he's ready to settle down, so if she's ready to lead a quiet life in Seattle it may work out.  However if she's restless, missing friends, or career driven ala Ali, it may turn out like Ali & Roberto.

Actually, that was from the sources about him not ready to get married any time soon and RS even claimed that was a clue of the outcome.  I said that myself to put with agentcurls sticky.

Well, truthfully, neither am I! But I figure if I say it enough, eventually I'll get there! Plus, can you imagine all the naysayers he'd be dealing with had he come back. Everyone would be questioning his motives and predicting all gloom for their relationship. At least this way, he shows that he can stick to his guns and stay the good guy in all of this. He did the right thing for him and Des at the time - would more time have made a difference - who knows but what's done is done I guess.
