Yes, she went to the taping of the ATFR. I would just read her posts and you will see her account of what happened. :Nod:laurentx wrote:Was agentcurls the poster who went to ATFR? Did she post a recap somewhere and did I miss it?

Thanks for posting this. It's very close to how I feel, as well. I did have to laugh at the bolded.sfrank wrote:I have not been able to adequately express my feelings on the whole Des/Chris outcome but I think David Jacoby on Grantland did it for me because this is EXACTLY how I feel...
This is excerpted from his column today...I can't wait for the podcast this afternoon:The Bachelorette had her heart broken, made out with a couple people, broke some other dudes' hearts, fell in love with someone else, and then got engaged all in the course of a week on a Caribbean island. She basically went on spring break. It seems like the episode aired a decade ago and I have emotionally moved on, but I can’t lie: While I was watching the finale on Monday night, at least twice I said to myself, “I have no idea what is going to happen. This is riveting.”
It was. It isn’t every day that you get to watch someone find true love — then get engaged to some other dude.
Chris: Imagine you have your best suit on, the ring in your pocket, your speech planned, and you’re hand-in-hand with the woman you are about to propose to. As you drop down to one knee, she asks you to stop. You’ve seen this before. The sweat and terror-tingle wash over your body at the realization that you are now the runner-up.But maybe not.
She says she has something to say, but it doesn't sound like “What I have to say is going to Bane back-break you.” She gathers herself. Right before you are about to say, “What the **** is this all about then?” she confesses that a week ago she was in love with another man, then he broke her heart, then she fell in love with you, but didn’t tell you you weren't the only one she was considering, but now that everyone else is gone she is totally down to marry you, like, forever.
You don’t propose marriage to someone under those conditions. You just don’t. Unless, of course, you are surrounded by TV producers who won’t accept “Welp, didn’t work out this time” as the grand finale of their multimillion-dollar project. Then you kind of have to make out with her a bunch and get engaged regardless.
The whole episode felt like watching zookeepers put two pandas in the same cage and turn on the panda porn. Think about it: After declaring no one has ever loved her the way she loved them, then having her heart broken on national television because some bro didn’t love her the way she loved him, the producers could have flown Ariel Castro in and Des would have been down.
Thing is, even after watching her downgrade to Chris, and watching Chris settle for someone who never really loved her until he was the last man standing, I feel like they're good for each other. They look good together, are equally astonishingly boring, and share a synchronized delusion about the concept of “poetry.” At first it's hard to imagine that as their relationship progresses Brooks won’t be brought up during heated arguments, but then when you consider the depth of intellect in play here, you can totally imagine them never mentioning it again.
While marriage sausage may taste good, it's hard to forget how it was made. But I have to ask: Why is “Welp, didn’t work out this time” an unacceptable outcome?

Forget the proposal......who could believe any of it anyway. No matter when she brought up the Brooks issue, she didn't explain enough about it IMO to go on a few seconds later and accept a proposal from him. And what a predicament to put him in, what was he supposed to say at that moment? Maybe, he should have brought some reality to the moment and said, "maybe we should talk about this before we go any farther. They re-shoot the proposal all the time. I wonder if he was so nervous, he wasn't paying much attention to what she was saying other than she wasn't rejecting him. Maybe afterwards he went "Holy Crap! what just happened?"isittrue wrote:I definitely think that she kind of ruined any kind of romantic proposal bringing Brooks up right beforehand - think she should have discussed that before the FRC but oh well, everything happens for a reason....

Yeah, at the very least would have been a definite mood killer for me - like you said, he probably was nervous and not paying much attention but still it was supposed to be a happy joyous moment and she kind of made it not so happy...moonchild wrote:Forget the proposal......who could believe any of it anyway. I totally agree with everything you said. Do anyone think his mother and sister are going to tell him about her break down with Brooks. I know as a mother of a 33 year old son, I would have to tell him. And there is no question in my mind that his sister would tell him. It would be a hard conversation to have, but, better now than later. I know there are a lot of people who would not agree, they would say he is grown, he has to make his own decisions. This is true and I agree, but, there are somethings that you just have to take a chance and say. I did a little test today with a few of the young men that work in my office. I gave a brief summary of what happened and asked whether they would want to see the breakup that was shown on TV. Every one of them said yes. Two said, "I would hope my boys (friends) and my family would tell me. "
But, with all that being said, they look happy and maybe they will be able to make it work.

She is still in love with him and I know the feeling very well since I am also living proof of something very similar. You don't forget and your lies become very transparent eventually.
He did love her with his head which I get. He chose not to love her with his heart and I will not hold that against him. He made a choice and as a guy who is as he claims ready for love will find the right girl sooner or later. Believe me, I don't think he's sweating it. He's ready to move on and face life and its ups and downs with as much gusto as possible. There's new adventures to be had and other things to conquer. He conquered a heart on national TV and so many of us were under the same spell. I just hope he goes back to being himself and as he's conquering new things he does so with as much grace as he did in front of our eyes. I just couldn't handle seeing him chasing women, fame, and celebirty after all this. I just feel like I couldn't handle that after everything else we've been through!
I'm going to say that he still has feelings for her. Is he ever going to admit it to anyone let alone himself? I doubt it. Poor Brooks. I wish him well and hope that there are no hard feelings due to unresolved questions hanging over both his and Des' head.
Still wondering what that scene was of him crying with that mystery object. Still wondering why I'm sure he said "I'm as in love as I've ever been." Still wondering why he'd follow her on twitter all that time when he knew he'd hurt her so bad. Still wondering if they could have made it had he been more willing to let his guard down and give her a chance.
Long post. But anyway I'm here cos it feels like a good place to go and share my feelings with people who will hear me out. Thanks!
