Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

I know Brooks wouldn't be able to relate to a girl who can throw those words out and then be engaged 5 days later. Brooks is more careful with his feelings. In defense of Des though, she doesn't have to go about punishing herself because Brooks doesn't love her back and in reality they didn't have ALL that much to mourn over. I think her heartache was not what they had but more of the loss of what could be. In addition, Brooks never dated 25 women at once in a situation like this. Every lead said they understood so much better what the last lead went through after they were there themselves. I think that's why Brooks wouldn't be a lead in this show. He wouldn't be able to be real to himself.
I agree to the bolded. First - she was infatuated with him and was hopeful about what they could build on. Second - This is why I wish someone asked him if he regretted going on the show at all. He probably would have said no - but since he goes on and on, it might have been telling.

He knew he'd made the right decision going into the ATFR, too. No matter what she did she wouldn't have been able to change his mind. Once he makes a decision it is obvious he never goes back, even if the initial separation is painful and the loss of love or the loss of the hope of love is painful. He is able to separate the head from the heart. He was even in love with his last girlfriend, enough to consider marrying her and he found out she was cheating on him (something I always suspected) and ended it. No amount of pleading on her part or his heart's part could bring her back.
I really admire Brooks for that, but boy, never get on his "you've hurt me so you're dead to me" list.

There is just no way someone puts ALL their eggs in one basket, loses that basket then gathers her eggs to put into another basket that soon. She has to know denial ain't just that river in Egypt. The more she denies the obvious, the harder it will be to move on. She might throw herself in this new relationship but that doesn't erase her intense feelings for another. After Brooks' breakup I was mad at Des and said it was her karma. Loving Brooks but going with the gusto with the other two. Des should have let her heart heal rather than going from the fire into the frying pan. It doesn't matter how much Chris loves her. She's going to learn that when you settle, you somehow aren't as happy as when you don't. I don't think we're alone in thinking Des was just desperate for love. When does desperation ever result in anything good or long lasting?
