So actually being in the moment can't have any affect? Living something certainly changes my perspective at times, gives me pause or gives me more clarity.Ariela wrote:dw_a_mom wrote:BarbB222 wrote:agentcurls wrote:^But the manufactured love story vs. real love story is in the eye of the beholder. So very true! Sometimes it is what it is. Can't make this stuff up. The first guy to doubt this process and question it although he fell for the lead. Just needed to separate the bubble from real life before he proceeded to the proposal.
We'll see what Brooke really does, if he does walk away in some way, but I will point out that Ian very much questioned the process and if he could propose at the end of Meredith's season. It earned him a lot of dislike back then. Fortunately, more people have since figured out how unrealistic the process is and may be more willing to accept the storyline. To me, it is very real to have questions and how things can carry into real life.
Yup, and you think about them BEFORE sign up for this show.

Totally not true. You can never prepare to fall in love no matter the premise. Some even pre-planned their love for Des and one by one they are falling by the wayside.

I agree, there is too much of a "fantasy love" comparrison with Brooks which leads me to believe it will be one of the other 2 guys who will actually be her "true love story" and one that I think will last the crunches that the couple will have coming.2observe wrote:Sounds an awful lot like the fantasy lovestory that was been created by MF & Co. for Brooks. Imo, that means that the "true" lovestory is with either Chris or Drew; and, I'm going with Chris being the one with the "real" lovestory because of his "safe-house" picture.HowSoonIsNow wrote:albean99 wrote:northernviewer wrote:I wonder if she lets Drew and Chris go, with the intention of just going home alone... and then Brooks shows up...to say that he regretted leaving and she's thrilled and they walk hand in hand to the sunset , and a twirl, we can't forget the twirl....
That would be too Hollywood. I hope she holds out for more than his regret.
It would be the ultimate Bollywood ending. Maybe Millsy started watching Indian films before story-boarding Desiree's season?
Brooks archetype: the handsome charismatic vagabond, loner, boy-man, or confused soul
Des archetype: the grounded pretty girl-next-door with an edge (in Des' case, her independent streak and her dress-designer dreams)
Des quickly falls for Brooks body and soul. Brooks flirts with Des and starts to fall, but he gets scared off by his feelings and leaves. Des turns to the stalwarts that have always cared for her (cue Chris/Drew). After some time away, Brooks has an epiphany, suddenly realizing his love & seeing his future before him. Brooks comes back, proposes, says he's not scared anymore, and proclaims that he will love Des a 1000 times more than she loves him. Des accepts.
Audience wish-fulfillment fantasy realized.

Well-- I'm starting to change my mind on what is going to happen tonight. Based on the banner pictures and the previews that I've seen today, I'm thinking that Brooks either tells her that he isn't on the same page that she is on, doesn't want to be engaged or that he takes himself out of the process altogether. I guess this is why tptb kept in all of her pronouncements of love for Brooks early on.
this is exactly what I've been hearing for the past few days from a few friends and family members who are watching and not on any boards... just reading the rags in line at the grocery.

Of course it has effect, but can that effect transfer? I think Emily and Jef were real in the moment, but it fell apart fast out of the bubble (I know opinions differ, its just one example so lets not debate it). They all are aware of that, of what the track records look like and how limited their conversations on the show are. If you listen to Jason and Molly's podcast, they note that one of the factors going against having any real relationship is that you can't talk about any of the things most of us want to know when dating. Conversations are very strictly limited. They also spend a lot of time doing and saying things the producers asked them to, that aren't representative of who they are at all. They finish this show knowing so little about each other.
Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

Messy end.
They should all walk away with dating in the future and see how real life plays out.

For me, I can't for the life of me imagine Desiree with anybody but Brooks..Sure she's had lots of make out sessions with other guys, but that doesn't equate being in love with them. Even Brooks mom said she could see the tender love looks between them. That's a vibe you can't pretend to have ...it's chemistry ..something unexplainable, but there. I still have an hour and a quarter before the show airs here ..but had to come by and see what you are all talking about...OMG This is driving me crazy for some reason. ( duh) I can't wait to see if this is as big of a dumpster fire as Chris Harrison reported...LOL We shall see !!
