He never said the ending comes out of left field. He said it comes out of left field. Maybe he's not talking about the moment she chooses someone. Maybe that doesn't come out of left field (Brooks). But maybe the route to get there does.

MF does say the ending comes out of left field. Here is his quote:

"I can't tell you [if Desiree found love]. All I can say is, you will be shocked by how this ends! It doesn't make sense in some ways; It comes out of left field in other ways. It's just the weirdest ending we've ever had, that's for sure!"

"IT", to me, refers to the ending.

I don't know that Drew or Chris as F1 would be considered a weird ending.

Expressing love for one person throughout the season and getting engage to another would be a weired ending. JMO

I definitely don't think her choosing Brooks even if he returned would be weird or out of left field. I think so many people are expecting that vs her choosing Chris or Drew.

i am with you, rosepetal..i do think thats what happened...plus, doesnt make sense to reject one guy who- being edited- you want throughout the season.

I've used that phrase (left field) myself, many times. Obviously it means UNEXPECTED, or when all hope is lost, something comes through.

I could see 2 possibilities:

1)She chooses someone who wasn't even been in the running (Drew). We know Brooks and Chris to a lesser degree are her choices. She talks about Brooks, and Chris got MEGA amount of screen time. Chris would not be a surprise as f1, to me.
or
2)Brooks does a 180 and proposes, comes in being 100% sure. This happens as she's thinking of going with another(Drew or Chris).

If she leads one or both (Chris & Drew) thinking that they are in the running, and changes her mind the last minute, I can see them being very upset, and so will their fans. If she's honest with them (I think she is with Drew on the beach) that she wants Brooks only, people will understand, and so will the guys, so even if Brooks comes out of left field (all hope was lost) to propose at the end, all things will be fine-They'll live happily ever after.  :cutesmile!:

What may be a weird ending for unspoiled viewers is that Brooks returns after being in doubt and Des decides to gives him a go, even though she will be giving up the 2 men who stood by her and are sure things. Some viewers won't be happy about that. I take what MF says with a small grain of salt, but he may be trying to buffer viewers in way. It may not be an ideal fairy tale ending that some viewers really get thier jollies off of.

The ending is never "fair"... somebody get's let go, feelings are involved and people get hurt. The lead is accused of leading somebody on blah blah blah. The lead chooses the one who they're the most attracted to (usually lol, not Em though, but she's the exception to every rule) it is what it is for a show like this.

You know that if Brooks does come around and proposes to her she'll accept from him. It would not be easy for her not to, she's been so into him this whole time. If he finally got it together, told her a heartfelt I love you and proposed I cannot see her going with anybody else. I think them breaking up may be the surprise to most people, but so could him coming around and saying he loves her and proposing. Both may be shocking to viewers.

I wonder if she lets Drew and Chris go, with the intention of just going home alone... and then Brooks shows up...to say that he regretted leaving and she's thrilled and they walk hand in hand to the sunset , and a twirl, we can't forget the twirl....

Nothing MF said meant anything in hindsight after Emily season. They just want to get folks going in circles IMO.
