Has anyone said Brooks doesn't have the right to fight for her? But his actions don't seem like those of a fighting man. Let's see, he delayed his arrival in Antigua so he could run home and cry on mommy's shoulder cuz he's not sure he's really in love. That right there should disqualify him. Then when he finally shows up in Antigua he does something that devestates Des. If she has any brains she will say "Hit the road, Jack, and don't you come back no more no more no more!"
Love this!

Des comes from a small family with only one sibling with whom she is obviously estranged (and for good reason, it appears:shocked!: ). Per her, she has lived independently from her parents since age 18 and only visits them once a year. That is in complete contrast to Brooks' huge clan of a family, with whom he lives. I'm sure it is like most of the big families I know where everybody is in everybody else's business and the siblings all feel entitled to butt into each other's decisions, so much so that the person "needs" the approval and validation from the others before they can make a choice. Big family not only brings be fun and a warm welcome, but it can also bring a sense of smothering and intrusion to those unaccustomed to it. I just cannot see Des tolerating that sort of dynamic for very long after growing up so autonomously. Just my little old opinion. :hidingchair

The bolded is what I'm referring to. It will make no sense for Des to go on a LCD with Drew after taking Brooks back. So why wouldn't Des be afforded the same latitude as Ali & Emily? :Beeleever wrote:It may not be a choice whether Des wants to go on the LCD with Drew or not. It's how the show works. They do, however, seem to give the girls more latitude if it suits their needs. Ali was allowed to let Chris L go and Emily was allowed to let Arie go before the LCD.

Do you think she had a choice to not go on 4 HTDs? Fans love those dates to see the contestants in their hometown settings and see their wacky/normal/fabulous families.LLiza wrote:2observe wrote:
Since Des would have already had a LCD with Brooks, why would Des go on the LCD with Drew??? All Des would have to do is go to Drew's room and let him go from there. To take him on the LCD would just be giving Drew "false" hope imo.
Giving "false" hope is nothing new on this show, or even specifically with Des. She essentially took FOUR trips to guys homes last week when she already was sure that she was in love with just ONE of them!! Forget chastizing her now for giving one or two men false hope -- how about THREE FAMILIES being tricked into offering their homes, their lives and their deepest feelings??

He's not manly enough?
So, I heard there was crappy stuff going on in other threads. I see I see some of it. What exactly has Brooks done wrong? We don't even know what he's done yet. Brooks is a good guy with a big heart and, well, we'll see if they actually end up together. We shall see.

ALI SWEEPS THE FINAL THREE MEN AWAY TO THE ROMANTIC PARADISE OF TAHITI
FOR STEAMY FANTASY OVERNIGHT DATES, BUT FRANK HAS UNFINISHED BUSINESS
TO ATTEND TO BEFORE HE CAN COMMIT TO ALI, ON ABC'S "THE BACHELORETTE"
"Episode 609" - Romantic adventures await Ali and the final three bachelors - Chris L., Frank and Roberto - as they travel to the tropical heaven of Tahiti and the possibility of intimate overnight dates. There's electricity and passion in the air during these wonderful sand and surf excursions, as Ali continues to explore what her future would be like with each of these potential partners and is faced with extending an invitation to each bachelor to spend the night in a "fantasy suite." However, while Chris and Roberto head to the South Pacific, Frank needs to stay behind in Chicago to make some major life decisions that will have serious repercussions for Ali's journey to find love, on "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, JULY 19 (8:00-10:02 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Ali kicks off her Tahitian escape with a spectacular helicopter tour over Le Taha'a with Roberto. They land in the middle of a heart-shaped island where they spend an intimate day swimming in the crystal blue water. Sparks fly as the couple share a romantic dinner, but will Ali learn that there's something more behind this bachelor's passionate kisses than just plain chemistry?
The next day Ali surprises Chris L. with a boat ride on a luxurious 75-foot catamaran. Although this relationship grew out of friendship, their steamy connection on the yacht proves there is romance in the air. After the boat docks offshore of a private island, the couple dive, hunt for pearls and swim ashore, and are treated to a gorgeous Tahitian sunset. That evening during a private dinner on the island, Chris continues to open up to Ali, but will she offer him the fantasy suite card, giving him an opportunity to share precious private time that could take their relationship to the next level?
The following day, Ali eagerly awaits her final exotic date - a day of sailing in paradise - with Frank. But he has other things on his mind. Shortly after Ali arrives at his hut, Frank delivers some shocking news that leaves Ali reeling and instantly changes the course of her search to find love.
Ali has experienced a different path to love with each of these men, but now she's more confused than she ever expected to be. After an emotional deliberation, she moves forward. She and the final two men toast to their final destination - Bora Bora - where the bachelors will meet her family. Is there a fairytale ending in Ali's future?
The three remaining men are:
Chris L., 33, landscaper from Cape Cod, MA
Frank, 31, retail manager, from Geneva, IL
Roberto, 26, insurance agent from Charleston, SC
Does anything sound familiar?
Meanwhile, Brooks is back with his family in the U.S., torn between his strong feelings for Desiree when he is with her and the insecurities he feels when he is not. His mom and sister offer heartfelt advice about the tough decision he is facing. Desiree is everything he would want in a wife, and there is no denying their emotional and physical attraction to one another. Brooks wants to make sure that, if he is the last man standing, that he has the confidence to put an engagement ring on her finger. After his mother and sister express their fondness for Desiree and their thoughts about her being a perfect fit for their large, boisterous family, the bachelor, now with the reassurance he needs, boards the plane for Antigua.
Desiree is excited to see Brooks and to spend time with him. But first Brooks has a heart-to-heart with Chris Harrison. When some shocking news is shared, Chris insists that the bachelor meet with Desiree. What unfolds is one of the most explosive, dramatic and emotional moments in "Bachelorette" history.
It takes a heck of a lot of effort for Brooks to stay behind while the rest of the group moves on. So they must have flown his mom and sis to LA to speak with him? During Ali's season, Frank wanted to leave the show earlier, like, episode 4 or 5, I can't remember. He was not able to leave until TPTB deemed it appropriate to pull the plug.
Either this whole thing was planned by the show to dramatically affect the final outcome, or it's just an unfortunate series of events. It looks like emotional torture for all of them.

Great point Veg, and it definitely sounds familiar. Also, did you notice that Roberto got the 1st FD?veg_out wrote:Here's Ali's F3 press release:
