canyonvue wrote:I have yet to give my opinion of the episode yesterday. I've just been responding to everyone else.

Zac: I never thought she'd end up with him. I don't think he'd make a good Bachelor. He would be exhausting to be married to.

Drew: He is in love for the first time. That means it probably wouldn't last. I'm now a lot less worried about him "interfering" with her and Brooks. Of course, he could be one of the twists. If she chooses him I'd have to rethink Desiree.

Chris: They're making fun of him. I've noticed it several times before, all the way to the early part of the season. They wouldn't make fun of the F1 like that. Cue: relief. I don't understand why they're making fun of him, though. He seems too nice to be made fun of.

Brooks: (This will be a long one) His HTD could not have been any better. They've always shown Brooks as having a conflict (being the first date, a broken finger keeping him from the RC—cue the hero returns music; slow to the finish line, fear of getting his heart broken), but they've always given him respect in the editing. And attention. I'm grateful for that.

I loved that he almost dumped them in the lake. That couldn't have been any more perfect. I was hoping they'd fall all the way in, though. Hugesmile

I love that he told his family that he likes kissing Des, so blatantly. Well, I guess that question's answered.

No wonder his family means so much to him. I think he's lucky to have them.

The home for his date was amazing. That view.

Brooks had a lot he was hiding because his family's extraordinary. He has hidden depths.

Des said she liked that he still managed to be adorable when he was lying on the ground with a broken finger, in pain. Ahhh.

The gallant man waving goodbye to her and running his fingers through his hair.

I even loved the sweater he wore. He has interesting style, but sometimes it's a definite hit.

His mom is a strong leader and he adores her. She trusts his judgement completely, which makes him trustworthy. His sister is striking and direct with her brother; his brothers are fun and sarcastic, just like him, and want to know if she can "hang" with him, because they think their brother is a catch. They also want to thank her for "not being a waste of time." The Foresters are amazing.

But all of this did make me wonder about Des. His family is amazing. Seeing Brooks in his element made him look different, gave him new depths. DOES she really fit into his life? CAN she really "hang" with Brooks, or, *gasp* is he actually too good for her?

She always loves the wrong men.

Would he want to align himself with her bullying brother? Or, will her creeper brother (lurking in the doorway is funny) become noble and play the hero in the end? (Making her seem slightly more equal). Yes, if her brother did Brooks a good turn, his own sister a good turn, that might start to equal out the scale a little more.

Did he make a decision out of true love and the knowledge that he should be with her forever? I hope someday he finds that, that's for sure.

RC: They showed Brooks commenting about Zac, more than once, which I thought was interesting and just another strange change this season. Brooks is thinking when he says it, and frankly, I like thinking Brooks, a lot. Don't change, Brooks.

Coming Up: Brooks says something, feels a certain way and Des doesn't like it. She is angry/hurt, storms off. He is blindsided and beside himself wondering how he can fix it/if he'll lose her. He leaves. She's sad. This lover's rift won't last.

I'm curious about the two bolded points.

Why do you think Zak would be exhausting to be married to? I actually think he would be very easy to be married to...for me.

Also, why would Des picking Drew change your opinion of her?...Is it because she would be changing her mind from what she has previously said about being in love with Brooks or is it something to do with Drew himself?

ITA! Don't get the dig for Des picking Drew. Des can't go wrong with Drew, IMO. And what a lucky girl she would be because he seems wonderful!  Based on what Michael said there is more to Drew than meets the eye apparently he is very funny and has an awesome personality that they have failed to show in the editing!
I agree, I don't get the Drew dig either.

I totally agree that both Zac and Drew are world class husband material.  Keep in mind, though, that at this point many here are VERY emotionally invested in one guy or another and choose to "dig" on those who are not their favorite.  Happens every season, every year.  Nothing new.  I don't have a favorite and, frankly, I haven't all season long.  They are all nice guys with seemingly little baggage.  Perhaps that is why I have trouble understanding an obsession for one guy...any guy.  It's not like in past seasons where the "trouble" guy was in the finals.  Any would be fine -- I just hope that Desiree picks one that will love her deeply and forever!!

I didn't "dig" on anyone. Rolling Eyes Well, Brooks is immature and needy, so I guess I dug on Drew. Actually, I don't really dig him at all.

Some people get favorites. I usually don't. BUT, Brooks is gorgeous! Totally my type! The ONLY contestant ever that I've ever been able to say that about. And on top of that he turned out to be so adorable in personality AND have a great family. So, well, that's how a contestant will become my favorite. The only other time I had a favorite was Jef, and that's only because he was from Utah, and Mormon. Brooks is from Utah and possibly Mormon, but that's not why I like HIM! :eyesigh:

And I still stand by what I said that if Des picked Drew OR Chris I'd really have to rethink Desiree. I really don't see how that's a dig. These contestants are NOT as similar as people say. They're all very different people. And I've always seen her as fitting nicely with Brooks, so far. And frankly, she's SAID she fits nicely with Brooks so far.

You can't tell me Brooks and Drew are much alike. Nice guys. Like Des. Here for a the right reasons. Good families (but very different families). Both good-looking in their own ways. But there's a lot more to them both.
regarding the bolded, I haven't said a negative thing about Brooks. I have said positive things about Drew. I have no idea why you got to make Drew sound so bad to make your fave of Brooks sound better? With the underlined part, you have made digs at both guys before because of what you have said about them, therefore, when you make other comments that have a negative undertone to them, no wonder people assume you are making a dig at either Chris or Drew. Again, I don't have a favorite as I do like different aspects of all three final guys BUT I will say that I am more partial to Drew and Chris as I see different aspects in both of them that remind me of my husband and don't see things in Brooks in that way. With Des, she has said different things about all three guys including what a great kisser Drew is(not to mention she can't keep her hands off him as well), she loves the energy and feelings she gets from Chris as well, so needless to say, Brooks isn't the only one getting great comments from Des.

Bottom line, I hope that Des is happy with her final choice no matter who she chooses and I don't have to re-assess how I feel about her after the fact either.

Nah, what I meant there—I really do talk in rhymes—is that people are making up stories about Brooks being needy and immature, so I'll just join him in people making up stories about me, that I dug at Drew. I then went on to say I don't dig him at all, actually. Now was that a dig? I don't know. Or, just truth. Well, it's truth, but does truth dig? Because I really don't dig him. OR Chris. OR Zak. I probably wouldn't be interested in the show at all anymore if Brooks left at anytime during it. I did kind of like Michael G., but not enough to stick around for him.

My opinion is all it is. If I don't feel all warm and fuzzy towards any certain contestant I don't have to. Many people had a strong opinion (and that's what my opinions are—strong) about Michael G. and I didn't say much except that I like him, I liked his cross-examining ways. I guess people just didn't feel sorry for Michael?

I'm curious, why would you have to rethink Desiree if she chose Drew or Chris? It's understandable they're not YOUR type, but if 1 of them ended up with Des (obviously not, Brooks is F1). I think she fits best with Brooks mainly because it's been obvious and she's been honest about it. But if Brooks was never in the picture, I think Drew or Chris are great- possibly even for Des.

Nah, what I meant there—I really do talk in riddles—is that people are making up stories about Brooks being needy and immature, so I'll just join him in people making up stories about me, that I dug at Drew.

So, if I am understanding you, even if you made negative undertones towards Chris and Drew, you aren't taking digs at them and you don't mean the negative things you say?  I am just confussed as you have definately said negative things towards both of the other two guys.

And this all started because I said I'd have to rethink Desiree if she picked Drew. Definition of rethink: re·think Verb Think again about, esp. in order to make changes to it. / Noun A reassessment of something. / Synonyms verb. think over - reconsider / noun. reconsideration

It doesn't say anything about a dig here.

Seems pretty innocuous to me.

If Brooks was never in the picture or wasn't the spoiled F1 then I don't think I'd have to rethink her. I mean, because I wouldn't have put them two together, right? Oh, I'd try, like everyone tries, but I wouldn't see her as sold on his type, yet.

I'm just grateful that Des has good enough taste to keep him around for a while. And Michael G. would agree with me. He said that it was obvious she was smitten with Brooks which proves that she has great taste. That's probably why I like Michael G. He's smart (as a side) and he has great taste, too. Invited Brooks to even hang out with him already.

WOW, all I said is that you have made negative connotations towards Drew and Chris. It has riled up others and as such, I can see when you make other negative comments regarding them, it can easily be taken a certain way.

I still don't understand why you would have to re-think Des if she picked either Chris or Drew. your explaination or lack there of, hadn't really made it clear, other than you said more negative stuff regarding both Chris and Drew.

I know your fave is Brooks, but even Michael G said Drew is a really good guy, funny, quirky and great to be around. SO, if Brooks was in the picture but not the spoiled one, how would you of felt? Would you of been upset that Des didn't pick him? I am asking these questions as you opened the door above but didn't really explain so just asking for a bit of help. Thanks.

I think I might understand what you're trying to say.

So you would rethink Desiree's decision if she picked Chris/Drew because you think Chris/Drew are similar and not her type? It seems like you maybe identify with Des and would pick Brooks because he's your type and the others not so much.

Episode 8 (HTD's) - 7/18 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers - Page 56 Empty Re: Episode 8 (HTD's) - 7/18 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers

Post by Guest Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:49 am

HI all,

looking at this whole thread, I think people may be reading between the lines something that do not exist in Canyon's initial posts. (canyonvue let me know if I am incorrect or out of line!)

Brooks seems a lot more free-spirited and adventurous than Chris or Drew for example (this is NOT a critic, just an opinion.. I wouldnt want to marry someone like that myself as I am a lot more home-bound!), etc...

The point made I believe was that knowing (according to spoilers) that Des picks brooks, you watch the season differently. Most of us do anyway. And the qualities/personality we see of Des when thinking of her with Brooks are different (not meaning better, just different) than with Chris or with Drew.

So when saying "rethink Des", I think it means that who she chooses would tell us a lot about what she wants in life. If it's not brooks, it would be different to what she has said or to what we have been assuming she wants (as we were under the impression what she wanted was Brooks).

I see NO criticism or negativity towards Drew or Chris in the post. Just the fact that Des chosing them would change how we see her (some will think her better and some not, all personal judgement!)
