Yea, like promising him a shot on DWTS, and now dropping him from the show.  That is one way TPTB has turned on him.  So unfair!

Ever think he lost that opportunity himself based on his comments? I think that's exactly what happened. And who does he have to blame for that? Himself.

If they can have Bristol Palin on the show, not once, but twice, who has made comments such as "Gays are forcing their lifestyles on others."  Then I don't think Juan Pablo's comments are really a deal breaker.

True, but Bristol's mother had a lot of followers who could potentially become viewers and increase ratings. I don't see that potential from JPab.

I doubt the contract everyone signs says anything about making sure the lead is well-liked or treated honestly.

The contract says exactly the opposite...They can do anything to the edit of the contestant, misrepresenting them and making it seem things happened or things were said, that didn't. It is an eye opener. That is why I said that I can't understand that anyone ever signs it.

I think if they keep demoralizing JuanP they may be surprised how much people get in his corner. I wasn't even interested in this season and he is the one who is growing on me fast. I'm sick of CH knocking him every chance he gets when he is saying they'll never have a chubby guy, etc. Juan's comments are no different.JMO

Yes it was in reference to the gay Bachelor question. As to Sean being asked his reaction to Juan Pablo's statement, he had plenty of time to prepare a response with professional assistance.

If memory serves, Sean was asked about interracial dating by the lovely African-American contestant that was on his show. Hardly a shocking question given the circumstance and one he would have been well prepared to answer.

  All of these contestants get prepped on how to handle press...some are just better at it than others. I think some take the responsibility more seriously and make more of an effort to learn and it shows. You can clearly see that Sean did the best at it since the man was everywhere...pre, during and post show. I never saw any other contestant do such an all out media blitz and you could see him getting more comfortable and polished the more experienced he got.

It wasn't just because Sean was a "good student. It was because he is very well spoken and very likeable if popularity is any indication. There's a reason TPTB continue to bring back him and his wife on the various Bach related programs and doing random media appearances just because. Being liked by the public pays, as does actually finding spouse on this show.

Interesting comments from all sides. I really don't see where JP is being thrown under the bus more than others on the show before him - Ben for sure. That's not to say it's fair but it's the nature of the show. I think he did bring some of it on himself (gay comments for sure) and possibly attitude. I don't know if those going in think it won't happen to them but some come back for more (Brad). I think half the problem in this case is that they didn't really think it out when picking JP for the lead. They decided it would satisfy the complaint about no minority lead, he was good looking, women thought he was hot, and that was that. I actually think he was way better than I expecting early on especially. It's now, late in the season, that the cracks are really showing. I don't think he's a terrible guy and it would be nice if there was a good outcome but I'm just not thinking that will happen because I don't really think he wants one. I like him with Nikki so we'll see but don't expect much.

Well, one things for sure, depending on how this season ends, some are/could be really shocked. Just because RS says stuff don't make it so; imo. Last season with Des said that in spades and I got a feeling this season could back that up too.

I think if Juan Pablo was filming this for a Spanish-speaking country, the audience might have a different opinion. His English is very good, but it's not good enough for free-flowing, in-depth conversations. I think that's one reason why his dialogue doesn't play well. Whether or not he is self-centered and arrogant, or just a victim of ABC's edit, is up to the viewer. I think most will decide, like RS, that JP was not in this to find love.

I thought the shaming of Clare was strange and probably a Fleiss manipulation more than a reality. He lost fans with that one. He should have said "no" and refused to humiliate her. I believe a lot of past bachelors wouldn't have played along. Not a gentleman when you do what he did on that one.

And...... Pervert is a very strong word. Not defending Bristol's remarks, just saying they were more of an opinion that an outright slur. I really don't think DWTS would have cut him had he just expressed an opinion. All would have died down by now with many choosing to disagree.

Overall, this show has been dull for me. With Jeff or Arie they would have had a show worth watching, no matter what the bachelor's real intentions. This time out, I have half-watched some shows; and missed a couple that I had no interest in going back to watch after the fact. Crazy for me since I have always (starting with B2) watched this series.

Enjoyed reading everyone's comments in this section.  Also, on my post regarding Juan Pablo's tweet on 2/28.  To be honest, I've been watching this season off and on.  I don't know why but for some reason I can't really get into it.  It's sad, but Juan Pablo is learning things the hard way.  I honestly don't think he knew what he was getting himself into and trusted TPTB, which is something you never do ....EVER!

The bottom line is ...they chose him for the ratings and thought they could manipulate and control him.  However, they quickly founded out different when he wouldn't play along to their rules.  So now, it's pay back time.  And we all know ... TPTB don't play fair!!  Something tells me the WTA - by its previews and the ATFR will be all DRAMA and will make him look even worst, if that's possible.  But they better be careful, because everyone has a breaking point and when it's all said and done ....Juan Pablo just might spill the beans on this franchise.  Contract or no Contract!

All that you have written is why this conversation is on going at this time. Jason Mesnick said it in his last podcast that the producers used to threaten to give him a bad edit whenever he refused to do what they wanted. Of course JP is not perfect, but I strongly believe that the JP we are seeing on our TV's, the one most people have come to dislike, is a "character," a victim of clever and manipulative editing.

I have never listened to any of Jason's and Molly's podcasts, but I have seen some posts that describe it as them "peeling back the curtain" on the underbelly of what really goes on behind the scenes - while producing the Bach/Bachelorette show. But how can Jason say that he was threatened with a bad edit if he refused to go along with what they wanted him to do? Wouldn't that be breaking his contract, which would then leave him vunerable to a law suit? Or has enough time passed since his and Molly's televised wedding? It does sound like they are now able to say whatever they want to?
