This leg crossing thing has me puzzled... I saw my dad cross his legs from time to time and he fathered 8 children. I also saw more than a couple men with their legs crossed in the group sitting I was in last week, so I don't think just because a man crosses his legs from time to time makes him less of a man Of course, this is JMHO, but I can also agree with some of the things that have been brought up such as having to fight for time in front of the mirror and such ( I wouldn't want that.)...I think beside the meat heads we've had this season it's just makes some things more noticeable like the leg crossing... I can remember Sean from last season crosses his and Brad did his, so does Chris H. See what I mean? I don't think that makes them any less of a man. My 2 cents. LOL
That's why those possibly archaic generalization male leg crossing irks me. Why do women do it? I know at times it feels more comfortable . Are men supposed to be denied that comfort? The Brad I mentioned was Pitt. He totally crosses his legs along with Hugh Jackman. And so????

Another thing we can't generalize about is the type of man who will spend the most time in front of the mirror. Some of the toughest, athletic alpha males I've known spent far more time primping than I did. People are too multi-faceted for labels, imo.

Not only that, double sinks/mirrors are in these days so who cares who hogs one when another is available. Hurray for double sinks and mirrors in bathrooms. Probably saved their share of marriages ;)

I can see Drew spending a bit of time in front of mirrors, and maybe Michael G., but not the others.

LOL I have 2 bathrooms so I don't have to worry. : ) I'd much rather a man take pride in his looks than to not do so.

I don't quite understand your generalizations about Drew. Not all guys go for the windswept look, doesn't mean they're vain. Having seen a few candid pics of Drew, he often wears a ball cap and doesn't dress up.

Awwww.. charriots.. I'm mourning with you. I've watched every season and it seems to be dying a slow and painful death right now.charriotoffire wrote:sophienette wrote:
Of course I would! Why would anyone go somewhere they can't get food they like???
More to the point, I don't think you were asked "why you post" but why you watch... Which you answered, since you don't
Because we cannot get McDonalds from Jack in the Box sophie, that is the point
as to the last question, I think that was rude to tell people 'Why dont you just stop watching?"
We cant all be a stepford fan.
Its like telling the people on here to stop participating in this forum if youre just gonna complain about the show.
Its hurtful and very dismissive. I am going through withdrawals but I have to go through the Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance
phase. I dont understand why people have to be rude about my process of grief.

LOL. I feel the same "ew" about Des' kisses with Brooks. But I am just not as vocal about it. Different stokes for different folks!!
I am actually looking forward to Zak's 1-on-1 date with Des. And I can totally see what she sees in him, and what made her keep him around as long as she did. To me, Zak has proven to be an interesting man, with a multi layered personality. I can see that Zak and Des found many things that they had a shared interest in. And Des DID say that Zak is a good kisser as well.
I doubt that Zak is the " surprise model" that is mentioned in the preview for the next episode.
I so agree. Brooks's kissing looks so gross. I like long hair on some guys, but that overly greased mess that Brooks has--yuck! His voice--so not for me. Give me a man like Zak any day. I'll leave the metro's for someone else. I'd be totally surprised if Brooks isn't hoping to get a soap opera gig. That's where I can totally see him.
So funny because I love Brooks and Zak best (Chris and Drew seem nice but do nothing for me). So while I completely disagree on the Brooks comments - I love that they both are really kissing each other and their kisses are hot to me - I totally agree about Zak and wish we got to see more kissing with him.

Re the bolded: thank goodness for that! Men come in various degrees of machismo: the world would be so homogeneous if we were all attracted to one type.
I like the freedom of expression we have on the boards. Thus, I will express mine, overly PC as they may be ... I rather object to calling men "pansies" if they are not what we imagine as the masculine ideal. My 20-year-old nephew, after a long struggle, made the brave choice of coming out, in the face of disapproval from his parents. Granted, he's not on a reality show competing for the love of a woman, but I would like to think that his sexuality doesn't make him less of a man or reduce him to an unkind effeminate stereotype.

Here here. After all aren't we the ones as their SO staring at them the most ? If they need that time to look good for me , I say go for it! Take the mirror while I go apply some makeup using my makeup mirror.

this makes a world of difference.

Rolly wrote:charriotoffire and Sprite just wondering, if this show is so painful why don't you just stop watching?!?
Several people have already answered you and I agree with most of their reasons.
I enjoy the travel.
Some of the things they do are fun and give me ideas.
Sometimes I really like the lead...Sean and Jillian.
Sometimes I really like some of the contestants...Chris L from Ali's season, Reid and Ed :hidingchair from Jillian's, Cat from Sean's.
Sometime we still get to enjoy the sleuthing.
Other times I want to see how they edit things to try to hide the "love" story or how they cover up the fact that there isn't one.
I watch to see if I see the love story...mostly no, but, occasionally like with Ashley and Sean, it is crystal clear.
I enjoy comparing notes with my friends and snarking about the show, contestants and producers...others might call it bitching.
I have watched the show for years...Since Andrew. I feel I have invested a lot of time in it and, as a result, I kind of feel as if I must see it through. (Those people familiar with pshychology will recognize the phenomenon.) Mostly it is a habit that is hard to break, and honestly, if it wasn't for the advent of boards like this one, I probably would have stopped, but, most of my friends are unspoiled and it is nice to be able to come somewhere, with people who enjoy the show in the way that I do and compare notes.
As for Des and her season specifically...I live in hope that something will happen that will turn things around and make my watching worthwhile...and I still want to see Spain and Portugal.
I also want to address the whole wimpy/metrosexual/gay discussion some of you have been having. The reason that I don't care for...well, pretty much every man this season (other than Zak who has grown on me), is not that I think that they necessarily have gay/feminine tendencies because they spend hours on their hair or are soft spoken...or cross their legs. I have no problem with a man who cares about his appearance....I wouldn't be attracted to a slob either. It is a matter of balance. You can look nice, clean, attractive, smell nice, etc. without taking forever to get yourself ready. I know there are alpha males who take hours to get ready....I wouldn't be attracted to them either. Same goes for women. Most of my friends are fairly low maintenance...and enjoy sports. Personally, I am attracted more to funny, smart, kind, easy going, low maintenance types. I don't like whiners or people who feel the need to put others down in order to make themselves feel better. Looks really has very little to do with it. That is one of the reasons I am enjoying Zak. To me he is interesting, thoughtful, funny and I think, sincere. He is not necessarily the best looking...although, that is a matter of taste. He could do with a little less Crest Whitestrips and probably spends more time in the gym maintaining those abs than I would care for, but, nevertheless, the other qualities I see in him trump those issues. Chris I think also has some of those qualities...and I would venture to guess, Kacey although we have not seen a lot of him. These are my preferences. Other people clearly have different preferences. Viva la difference!!!
You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.
