Re: Chris Harrison's The Bachelorette 9 Blogs & Interviews - Discussion
Chris' job now is to set it up for the "ending no one saw coming." He's doing a good job. If he were hinting at a Brooks return, or defending him, people would be "guessing" Brooks comes back. Showing no screencaps, giving no hints, being "mad" at Brooks, gives abc what they want.

Just because CH is a company man (and he definitely IS -- he would be nothing without this show) doesn't mean that he approves of or likes the way that Brooks treated Des. I bet that it is easy for him to tear Brooks apart now and then later chalk it up to keeping MF's secret. Any decent human being could never believe that Des deserved any of that humiliation, even if you did see it coming a mile away.

Sadly, in my opinion, worse than the Brooks-inflicted humiliation will be the self-inflicted humiliation she will ultimately have to face if she takes him back.LLiza wrote:Just because CH is a company man (and he definitely IS -- he would be nothing without this show) doesn't mean that he approves of or likes the way that Brooks treated Des. Indeed! It's too bad that MF is playing to crowd of girls who just want a love story at any cost. It's pathetic in my mind that a (formerly) strong and independent woman can take back such a bozo who admittedly will never love her. It's not as if they had dated for years and have plenty of history that they want to preserve. You are correct -- both of them will forever look like idiots. Don't forget, though, that some viewers will be thrilled that they picked the winner from the start, and won't be concerned with the manner in which women are portrayed in dating.
But they picked the winner!!! LOL

thanks, LLiza. Also, many will believe they have witnessed a love-conquers-all ending... as opposed to the more experienced among us (yes, that's me) that can't help question the folly in that kind of thinking.LLiza wrote:SueSt wrote:Sadly, in my opinion, worse than the Brooks-inflicted humiliation will be the self-inflicted humiliation she will ultimately have to face if she takes him back.LLiza wrote:Just because CH is a company man (and he definitely IS -- he would be nothing without this show) doesn't mean that he approves of or likes the way that Brooks treated Des. Still, it's what they both signed up for... and if they say they're happy... I wish them well!

Re: Chris Harrison's The Bachelorette 9 Blogs & Interviews - Discussion
A very common theme among the successful post-TV reality show couples is that "falling in love" does not really start until the cameras disappear (Ali said that this week, didn't she?). I think Brooks would be a normal human being who cannot "fall in love" under the condition of two other suitors with whom she has a physical relationship as a matter of contract, handlers/meddlers, and cameras. But the naked, credible, unmanipulated declaration of unique love from Des might reasonably trigger a real world "maybe I can trust my heart to this person after the show" response that the fake circumstances of the TV Show had previously blocked. It's a credible path to a Non-Show romance. (I don't think these two are ready for marriage individually or together, but it's more fun to pretend (a) Love Exists, and (b) Conquers All, so I'm going with that ... until the Happy Couple clause expires in October. : )
And to add a Chris Harrison point -- 100% sure he is playing a brilliant company line to maximize ratings ... this season's "doubt" could not have been "Will she fall in love" or "who will she like best". Des didn't give them that footage in Antigua to work with really. This season's only doubt therefore is "will her favorite love her back." And they need the PR machine to hype the negative possibility to make that "suspense" credible.

I think the more likely scenario is that CH, Des and Brooks are killing themselves laughing at what he's saying in his blogs.

I wonder if the early spoiler about Brooks was intended to increase by it the positive look on the Bres relationship. And CH blog post reflects in fact his real and personal feeling about it. TPTB could hide us completly Des' infatuation by editing. But they don't. So they choose to spill it with "I'm in love with Brooks" PI.
